RU Ditto [GP 2/2]

Mavis

Banned deucer.
[OVERVIEW]

Through a combination of Imposter and Choice Scarf, Ditto can turn the tables on a plethora of dangerous setup sweepers, like Barbaracle, Virizion, and Salazzle. Ditto functions well as an offense revenge killer, since after copying one of the opponent's powerful Pokemon, they will usually lack effective switch-ins to it, allowing Ditto to claim one or two KOs before it's forced out. In addition to this, Ditto's ability to refresh its PP indefinitely by switching in and out can be used to PP stall defensive teams, and it can also copy enemy moves as well as utility moves like Heal Bell or Defog for its team's benefit against such teams. However, Ditto does not copy the enemy's HP stat and therefore can only be switched in if predicting an attack that the target Pokemon resists, such as Salazzle's Sludge Bomb, as a pathetic base 48 HP often means it can be severely damaged or outright KOed without good prediction. Despite the move being rather uncommon in RU with the exception of Raikou, Imposter is blocked by Substitute, meaning Ditto can often fail to beat Substitute sweepers. Additionally, Ditto can struggle versus balance, as even if it copies something theoretically dangerous, the enemy team will usually have a sturdy defensive answer. The potential entry hazard stacking nature of these teams can also give Ditto trouble.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Transform is Ditto's only move.

Set Details
========

Choice Scarf is chosen as the necessary item so Ditto doesn't have to rely on Speed ties to beat its chosen targets. If the opponent is also holding a Choice Scarf, it results in a Speed tie. The defensive investment helps in the rare Ditto mirror matchup by minimizing opposing Ditto's Struggle damage. Imposter gives Ditto its entire niche, allowing it to transform into the opposing Pokemon immediately upon switching in. The chosen IVs are used for Hidden Power Ground, helping Ditto revenge kill Salazzle. However, depending on the chosen target, IVs can be changed, like Hidden Power Fire for Roserade, but this relies on the opponent carrying Hidden Power.

Usage Tips
========

Ditto's primary purpose is to revenge kill boosted setup sweepers like Salazzle, Virizion, and Ninetales. By far the safest way to use Ditto is to bring it in after a teammate falls and click the appropriate move for the situation. Bringing it in with slow pivots is also helpful, as Ditto only gets a maximum of five chances to come in if you restrict yourself to only switching it in after one of its teammates faints. Predicting a move that will be not very effective against whatever Ditto transforms into, like Virizion's Leaf Blade, is also a good way to get it in safely. Do not switch Ditto in on Pokemon whose STAB moves are neutral or super effective to themselves, as Ditto will easily be KOed if it tries thanks to its low HP. The opponent will most likely assume Ditto will always be locked into one move courtesy of Choice Scarf, so they may try to play around it by switching appropriately. It is advised to scout what possible moves your opponent may make and predict accordingly. Foes with too big of a difference in base HP, most notably Snorlax, are very difficult for Ditto to take on effectively. Against defensive teams, Ditto can infinitely copy foes' PP by switching in and out, therefore able to turn the tables by using their own Heal Bell, Defog, and Recover to benefit its own team and stall out the PP of opposing teams that rely on residual damage to win. Ditto can also be used for scouting purposes, able to check for surprise coverage moves such as Zen Headbutt on Virizion and Rock Slide on Passimian. Great care should be taken to keep Ditto away from Knock Off and Trick users, as Ditto loses most of its value if its Choice Scarf is removed. For instance, switching in on Passimian's Knock Off may seem appealing due to Passimian's Dark resistance, but Ditto should always attempt to keep its Choice Scarf as long as it can. Ditto should also be kept away from Toxic, as it massively cuts into its ability to switch in and do its job, in tandem with possibly taking entry hazard damage.

Team Options
========

Ditto fits well on balance and offense teams in need of a versatile revenge killer, notably ones carrying Fighting-types to deal with Snorlax and Bewear, both of which Ditto has difficulty beating. These teams also struggle with very bulky teams, so Ditto's ability to infinitely copy their utility moves is beneficial to helping its team beat those sorts of opposing Pokemon. Cleric support from the likes of Florges, Diancie, and Vaporeon is great for keeping Ditto's health up and keeping it free of status. Pokemon that are hard to break through without setup also make for good partners, such as Mandibuzz and Cresselia, due to Ditto's ability to punish setup. Entry hazard removal is also very good alongside Ditto, making sure it doesn't take any unnecessary damage. Donphan, Mandibuzz, Mega Blastoise, and Flygon can all take on the entry hazard-clearing role. Grounded Poison-types, like Nidoqueen and Roserade, can be used as well to clear the field of Toxic Spikes more easily. Pokemon that can switch in on Knock Off and Trick make good partners, namely Fighting-type Z-Crystal users that don't mind Knock Off, like Bewear, Toxicroak, and Virizion.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========

Other Hidden Power types can be used instead to try to eliminate specific threats. Hidden Power Ice can be run in order to lure in and KO Noivern if copied off something like Ninetales, and Hidden Power Fire can be used to beat Roserade. However, these are very specific instances and are usually not worth giving up the Salazzle-beating property of Hidden Power Ground.

Checks and Counters
========

**Substitute Users**: Substitute blocks Imposter, making Ditto completely useless against setup threats that carry it, most notably Raikou.

**Bulky Setup Sweepers**: Pokemon that can boost their defensive stats along with their offensive ones can use Ditto as setup fodder, like Espeon, Snorlax, Sigilyph, and Necrozma.

**Choice Scarf Users**: Due to holding a Choice Scarf itself, Ditto will end up forcing a Speed tie between itself and the foe. They can also switch in if they are faster than whatever Ditto has already transformed into.

**Item Removal and Paralysis**: Removal of Ditto’s Choice Scarf via Knock Off from common users of the move like Passimian, Mandibuzz, and Donphan prevents Ditto from doing its job, as it's reliant on its Choice Scarf to outspeed whatever it transforms into. Paralysis will also hinder this, preventing it from outspeeding any foe whatsoever.

**Residual Damage**: Ditto hates having to take entry hazard damage as it switches in, with Toxic Spikes being especially detrimental to its longevity.

[OVERVIEW]
Everyone’s favorite pink blob comes to bring its unique bag of tricks to RarelyUsed. Through a combination of Imposter and Choice Scarf, Ditto can turn the tables on a plethora of dangerous setup sweepers, like Barbaracle, Virizion, and Salazzle. Its PP also refreshes every time it switches in and out of battle, allowing Ditto to copy and use support moves infinitely against defensive teams if need be. However, Ditto does not copy the enemy’s HP stat and therefore cannot be directly switched into attacks, as a pathetic base 48 HP often means it can be severely damaged or outright KOed without good prediction. This also means that Ditto usually needs to be brought in after a teammate has already fainted, limiting its switch-in potential. You already stated this in the previous sentence. Remove. In addition to this, Imposter is blocked by Substitute, meaning Ditto can often fail to beat Substitute sweepers. I would also mention how Ditto i screwed by Toxic and Toxic Spikes, as well as mirror matches: Ditto can't transform against another Ditto.

Your overview needs to be in bullets until after the second official check, my dude.

move 1: Transform
item: Choice Scarf

Moves
========
  • Transform is Ditto’s only move, but it will most likely never end up using it since Imposter activates upon switching in. However, having a move is required for a valid set, so Transform is necessary. That last sentence was not necessary. I would instead mention that it fails to copy Pokemon behind Subsitute or another Imposter Ditto.
Set Details
========
  • Imposter gives Ditto its entire niche, allowing it to transform into the opponent immediately upon switching in.
  • Choice Scarf is chosen as the necessary item so Ditto doesn’t have to rely on speed ties to beat it’s chosen targets. Unless the opponent is also holding a Choice Scarf, Ditto will always outspeed them, and if they are, it’s a 50-50.
  • The chosen IVs are used to choose Hidden Power Ground, for revenge killing Salazzle. However, depending on the chosen target, IVs can be changed, however, keep in mind that the desired target may not have Hidden Power for Ditto to copy at all.
  • 252 HP and 252 Defense EVs are chosen Maximum defensive investment is necessary to minimize damage from opposing Ditto’s Struggle, in the rare event of a mirror matchup.
  • The Relaxed nature is chosen so that in the event of a Ditto mirror matchup, Ditto will use Struggle second, and not die to recoil.
  • The remaining EVs are put into Attack to slightly boost the power of Ditto’s Struggle, should it be using it.
  • Rearrange this to talk about EVs and IVs first, then go into Item and Ability. Also, combine the Relaxed bullet with the EV bulk. It will read a little better and be less repetitive.
Usage Tips
========
  • Ditto’s primary usage is to revenge kill boosted setup sweepers like Salazzle, Virizion, and Ninetales.
  • By far the safest application for Ditto is to bring it in after a teammate falls and click the appropriate move for the situation. Bringing it in with slow pivots is also helpful, as Ditto only gets a maximum of five chances to come in if you restrict yourself to only switching it in after one of it’s teammates faints.
  • Do not switch Ditto in on Pokemon who’s STAB moves are neutral or super effective to themselves, like Virizion’s Close Combat or Dragon Dance Flygon’s Outrage, as Ditto will easily be KOed if it tries. Being able to bait out a move that the target Pokemon is resistant or immune to can also be used to get Ditto into play, though this is still quite risky. DD Flygon isn't really a thing anymore. I would pick a more relevant example.
  • The opponent will most likely assume Ditto will always be locked into one move courtesy of Choice Scarf, so they may try to play around it by switching appropriately. It is advised to scout what possible moves your opponent may make and predict accordingly with whatever moves you are given.
  • Foes with too big a difference in base HP are very tough for Ditto to take on. Snorlax and Bewear showcase this perfectly, as Ditto has no feasible way around Snorlax and Bewear is very difficult to KO without prior chip damage.
  • Due to the mandatory Choice Scarf, Ditto is completely unable to kill Trick Room sweepers, always outspeeding them and thus needing to take a hit. Such sweepers, like Machamp and Alolan Marowak, can easily dispatch Ditto with the appropriate move. I don't know if this bullet is necessary. Trick Room sucks ass in RU. But I would wait and see what a QC member says.
  • Against defensive teams, Ditto can infinitely copy enemies’ PP by switching in and out, therefore able to turn the tables by using their own Heal Bell against them.
  • Ditto can also be used for scouting purposes, able to check for surprise coverage moves such as Zen Headbutt on Virizion or Iron Tail on Flygon
  • Maybe mention status conditions. Ditto doesn't like Toxic at all and will be poisoned by Toxic Spikes before it transforms, so get rid of those before sending Ditto out. Also, mention keeping Ditto away from Knock Off or Trick.
  • I would rearrange this so it flows better. Try like this:
  • 1) What Ditto does and how to use it.
  • 2) When to bring it in
  • 3) Keep it away from...
Team Options
========
  • Cleric support is great for keeping Ditto’s health up and keeping it free of status, so teammates like Vaporeon, Florges, and Diancie can all fulfill this role.
  • Pokemon that are hard to break through without setup also make for good partners, such as Mandibuzz and Cresselia, make for good partners too, due to Ditto’s ability to punish setup.
  • Hazard removal is also very good alongside Ditto, making sure it doesn’t take any unnecessary damage. Donphan, Mandibuzz, Mega Blastoise, and Flygon can all take on the hazard-clearing role. Also mention Poison-type partners so they can absorb Toxic Spikes.
  • Infiltrator users like Noivern and Golbat can also be nice to take on Substitute-using targets that Ditto can struggle against. This is correct, but Raikou is probably RU's best Substitute user and neither of these beat it.
  • Maybe make a note of balanced and bulky offense teams that need a revenge killer. I would also mention stuff that can take Knock Off or Trick, since Ditto absolutely needs its Choice Scarf to succeed. And maybe wallbreakers, since they can KO or chip Pokemon with high HP like Snorlax or Bewear.
Other Options
========
  • Not really. Hidden Power Ground can be substituted out for other IV spreads types, such as 31/30/31/30/31/30 for Hidden Power Fire or 31/30/30/31/31/31 for Hidden Power Ice, but you’re gambling on the opponent carrying Hidden Power, which outside of Ninetales and Venusaur, none of Ditto’s setup targets carry often. In addition to this, Ninetales often carries a Hidden Power type that isn’t very effective against itself, Venusaur’s Sludge Bomb will still OHKO itself at +2, and both foes are less common than Salazzle, so it’s best to stick to Hidden Power Ground.
Checks and Counters
========

**Substitute Users**: Substitute blocks Imposter, making Ditto completely useless against setup threats that carry it, most notably Raikou, but also some variants of Salazzle.

**Curse and Calm Mind users**: Pokemon that can boost their defensive stats along with their offensive ones can use Ditto as setup fodder, namely Espeon, Snorlax, and Sigilyph. Add Necrozma here.

**Choice Scarf users**: Due to holding a Choice Scarf itself, Ditto will end up forcing a Speed tie between itself and the opponent. They can also switch in if they are faster than whatever Ditto has already transformed into.

**Item Removal and Paralysis**: Removing Dito’s Choice Scarf prevents it from doing its job effectively, as its reliant on its Choice Scarf to outspeed whatever it transforms into. Paralysis will also hinder this, preventing it from outspeeding any opponent whatsoever. List some examples of Knock Off or Trick users.

**Trick Room**: While relatively uncommon in RU, Ditto is completely ineffective against Trick Room, due to it always carrying Choice Scarf, ensuring it moves after the opponent while Trick Room is up. Like I said earlier, I don't think this is necessary, but up to you.

Residual Damage needs a mention here since Ditto hates switching into hazards and status conditions. And again, Ditto will be poisoned by Toxic Spikes before it transforms.

  • Its PP also refreshes every time it switches in and out of battle, allowing Ditto to copy and use support moves infinitely against defensive teams if need be. this is true but worded in a weird way that might leave newer players like why does that matter. id go with something like "ditto is able 2 endlessly copy an opponents pp by blah blah. this means its able 2 put in work vs fat"
  • Ditto does not copy the enemy’s HP stat and therefore cannot be directly switched into attacks, as a pathetic base 48 HP often means it can be severely damaged or outright KOed without good prediction. not necessarily true. you can explain how it should switch into resisted stabs - eg lazzle sludge or whatever
  • Additionally, Imposter is blocked by Substitute, meaning Ditto can often fail to beat Substitute sweepers. general analysis tip - you always need examples. you can also mention sub isnt super common anyways
  • Ditto absolutely hates entry hazards, especially Spikes, as it has no way of offsetting hazard damage itself. doesnt it? it can recover/regen off the dmg vs fat and doesnt really mind the chip vs offenses so. if you wanna keep this tie it 2 the shakier balance mu
  • id say something about its great offense mu and how it achieves this
  • also how balance is a hard mu cause you do face sweepers but the opps team does usually have ways to wall them

Moves
========
  • Transform is Ditto’s only move, but it will most likely never end up using it since Imposter activates upon switching in. Additionally, Transform will fail if used on an already transformed opposing Ditto. this info isnt really useful lol
Set Details
========
  • Maximum defensive investment is necessary to minimize damage from opposing Ditto’s Struggle, in the rare event of a mirror matchup. A Relaxed nature is chosen so that in the event of a Ditto mirror matchup, Ditto will use Struggle second, and not die to recoil. you can condense this just by saying "the given spread helps in the rare ditto mu by lowering struggle damage.
  • Choice Scarf is chosen as the necessary item so Ditto doesn’t have to rely on speed ties to beat it’s chosen targets. Unless the opponent is also holding a Choice Scarf, Ditto will always outspeed them, and if they are, If the target is holding a Choice Scarf, it’s a 50-50. this is by far the most relevant aspect of set details here. move to top

  • The chosen IVs are used to choose Hidden Power Ground, for revenge killing Salazzle. However, depending on the chosen target, IVs can be changed, however, keep in mind that the desired target may not have Hidden Power for Ditto to copy at all. if youre going 2 mention alternatives - list them.
  • The remaining EVs are put into Attack to slightly boost the power of Ditto’s Struggle, should it be using it.
  • i dont like this section atm. youve written a lot on a really forward mon - its not incorrect but like why. theres a lot of info that doesnt really help
Usage Tips
========
  • Ditto’s primary usage is to revenge kill boosted setup sweepers like Salazzle, Virizion, and Ninetales.
  • By far the safest application for Ditto is to bring it in after a teammate falls and click the appropriate move for the situation. Bringing it in with slow pivots is also helpful, as Ditto only gets a maximum of five chances to come in if you restrict yourself to only switching it in after one of it’s teammates faints. also mention switching into resisted stabs/coverage
  • Do not switch Ditto in on Pokemon who’s STAB moves are neutral or super effective to themselves, like Virizion’s Close Combat or Noivern's Draco Meteor, as Ditto will easily be KOed if it tries. Being able to bait out a move that the target Pokemon is resistant or immune to can also be used to get Ditto into play, though this is still quite risky. you could substitute any offensive mon here and it would be correct. how is this usage tip specific 2 ditto?
  • The opponent will most likely assume Ditto will always be locked into one move courtesy of Choice Scarf, so they may try to play around it by switching appropriately. It is advised to scout what possible moves your opponent may make and predict accordingly with whatever moves you are given.
  • Foes with too big a difference in base HP are very tough for Ditto to take on. Snorlax and Bewear showcase this perfectly, as Ditto has no feasible way around Snorlax and Bewear is very difficult to KO without prior chip damage. not sure if id count bewear here - sd is pretty dead if you copy it, while cb usually carries superpower which does like 72 or something
  • Due to the mandatory Choice Scarf, Ditto is completely unable to kill Trick Room sweepers, always outspeeding them and thus needing to take a hit. Such sweepers, like Machamp and Alolan Marowak, can easily dispatch Ditto with the appropriate move. trick room is unviable
  • Against defensive teams, Ditto can infinitely copy enemies’ PP by switching in and out, therefore able to turn the tables by using their own Heal Bell against them. add some more examples - recover/defog/knock are some utility moves i can think of off the top of my head. also say this is relevant vs fat teams cause you can just pp stall them 2 death
  • Ditto can also be used for scouting purposes, able to check for surprise coverage moves such as Zen Headbutt on Virizion or Iron Tail on Flygon. iron tail flygon is.. not used. use something else
  • Great care should be taken to keep Ditto away from Knock Off and Trick users, as Ditto loses all of its value if its Choice Scarf is removed. not necessarily. youre just forced into a ton of 50/50s - which is not ideal but can work anywyas. make it clearer that even if you transform into, say, passimian, knock is still a bitch cause new ppl might be like oh dark resist and take a knock
  • Ditto should also be kept away from Toxic, as it massively cuts into it's ability to switch in and do it's job, in tandem with possibly taking entry hazard damage.
Team Options
========
  • Ditto fits well on balance and offensive teams in need of a versatile revenge killer, notably ones carrying Fighting-types to deal with Snorlax and Bewear, whom Ditto cannot beat. mention its good fat mu here too, and move 2 first bullet
  • Hazard removal is also very good alongside Ditto, making sure it doesn’t take any unnecessary damage. Donphan, Mandibuzz, Mega Blastoise, and Flygon can all take on the hazard-clearing role. Grounded Poison-types, like Nidoqueen and Roserade, can be used as well to clear the field of Toxic Spikes more easily.
  • Pokemon that can switch in on Knock Off and Trick make good partners, namely Mega Blastoise and Z-move users that do not fear super effective damage from Knock Off. mega blastoise is not a knock absorber. use another example and also give z move examples
Other Options
========
  • Not really. Hidden Power Ground can be substituted out for other types, such as 31/30/31/30/31/30 for Hidden Power Fire or 31/30/30/31/31/31 for Hidden Power Ice, but you’re gambling on the opponent carrying Hidden Power, which outside of Ninetales and Venusaur, none of Ditto’s setup targets carry often. In addition to this, Ninetales often carries a Hidden Power type that isn’t very effective against itself, Venusaur’s Sludge Bomb will still OHKO itself at +2, and both foes are less common than Salazzle, so it’s best to stick to Hidden Power Ground.
  • why is this bullet so long............................... just say "hp fire and ice are an option however it makes you vulnerable to salazzle". also if those other hp targets arent worth running hp for - then what is? surely other hidden powers are worth it in some scenarios if youre adding them in oo.

**Curse and Calm Mind users Bulky Setup Sweepers**: Pokemon that can boost their defensive stats along with their offensive ones can use Ditto as setup fodder, namely Espeon, Snorlax, and Sigilyph.

**Choice Scarf users**: Due to holding a Choice Scarf itself, Ditto will end up forcing a Speed tie between itself and the opponent. They can also switch in if they are faster than whatever Ditto has already transformed into.

**Item Removal and Paralysis**: Removing Dito’s Choice Scarf via Knock Off from common users of the move like Passimian, Mandibuzz, and Donphan prevents Ditto from doing its job, as it's reliant on its Choice Scarf to outspeed whatever it transforms into. **Residual Damage**: Ditto hates having to take entry hazard damage as it switches in, with Toxic Spikes being especially detrimental to it's longevity.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Through a combination of Imposter and Choice Scarf, Ditto can turn the tables on a plethora of dangerous setup sweepers, like Barbaracle, Virizion, and Salazzle.
  • Ditto is able to switch in and out, refreshing its PP infinitely, and this can be abused against more defensive or stall-oriented teams, allowing it to copy enemy Heal Bell or Aromatherapy and clear its team of Toxic. u need 2 explicitly mention something about pp stalling as well
  • Ditto does not copy the enemy’s HP stat and therefore can only be switched in if predicting an attack that the target Pokémon resists, such as Salazzle's Sludge Bomb, as a pathetic base 48 HP often means it can be severely damaged or outright KOed without good prediction.
  • Despite being rather uncommon in RU with the exception of Raikou, Imposter is blocked by Substitute, meaning Ditto can often fail to beat Substitute sweepers.
  • Ditto functions well as an offense killer, since after copying one of the opponent's powerful Pokémon, they will usually lack effective switch-ins to it, allowing Ditto to claim one or two KOs before it's forced out. put this near the positive attributes, rn its positive>negative>positive>negative again which doesnt read well
  • Ditto can struggle versus balance, as even if it copies something theoretically dangerous, the enemy team will usually have a sturdy defensive answer. The potential hazard-stacking nature of these teams can also give Ditto trouble.

  • Imposter gives Ditto its entire niche, allowing it to transform into the opponent immediately upon switching in.

Usage Tips
========
Predicting a move that will be not very effective against whatever Ditto transforms into is also a good way to get it in safely.
  • Do not switch Ditto in on Pokemon who’s STAB moves are neutral or super effective to themselves, as Ditto will easily be KOed if it tries thanks to its low HP.
  • The opponent will most likely assume Ditto will always be locked into one move courtesy of Choice Scarf, so they may try to play around it by switching appropriately. It is advised to scout what possible moves your opponent may make and predict accordingly with whatever moves you are given.
  • Foes with too big a difference in base HP, most notably Snorlax, are very difficult for Ditto to take on effectively.
  • Against defensive teams, Ditto can infinitely copy enemies’ PP by switching in and out, therefore able to turn the tables by using their own Heal Bell, Defog, and Recover to benefit its own team and stall out the PP of opposing teams that rely on residual damage to win.
  • Ditto can also be used for scouting purposes, able to check for surprise coverage moves such as Zen Headbutt on Virizion or Rock Slide on Passimian.
  • Great care should be taken to keep Ditto away from Knock Off and Trick users, as Ditto loses most of its value if its Choice Scarf is removed- which isn't ideal, but still workable. Switching in on attacks such as Passimian's Knock Off may seem appealing due to Passimian's Dark resistance, but Ditto should always attempt to keep its Choice Scarf as long as it can.
  • Ditto should also be kept away from Toxic, as it massively cuts into it's ability to switch in and do it's job, in tandem with possibly taking entry hazard damage.
Team Options
========
  • Ditto fits well on balance and offense teams in need of a versatile revenge killer, notably ones carrying Fighting-types to deal with Snorlax and Bewear, whom Ditto has difficulty beating. These teams also struggle with very bulky teams, so Ditto's ability to infinitely copy their utility moves is beneficial to helping its team beat those sorts of opponents. whys this also another color
Grounded Poison-types, like Nidoqueen and Roserade, can be used as well to clear the field of Toxic Spikes more easily.
  • Pokemon that can switch in on Knock Off and Trick make good partners, namely Fighting-type Z-crystal users who don't mind Knock Off, like Bewear, Toxicroak, and Virizion.
Other Options
========
  • Other Hidden Power types can be use instead to try to kill specific threats. Hidden Power Ice can be ran in order to lure in and KO Noivern if copied off something like Ninetales, or HP Fire can be used to beat Roserade and Venusaur. However, these are very specific and usually not worth giving up the Salazzle-beating property of Hidden Power Ground. remove venu

Moves

Transform is Ditto's only move.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Ditto's primary purpose is to revenge kill boosted setup sweepers like Salazzle, Virizion, and Ninetales. By far the safest application for way to use Ditto is to bring it in after a teammate falls and click the appropriate move for the situation. It is advised to scout what possible moves your opponent may make and predict accordingly with whatever moves you are given. Foes with too big of a difference in base HP, most notably Snorlax, are very difficult for Ditto to take on effectively. Against defensive teams, Ditto can infinitely copy foes’ foes' PP by switching in and out, therefore able to turn the tables by using their own Heal Bell, Defog, and Recover to benefit its own team and stall out the PP of opposing teams that rely on residual damage to win. Ditto can also be used for scouting purposes, able to check for surprise coverage moves such as Zen Headbutt on Virizion or and Rock Slide on Passimian. Great care should be taken to keep Ditto away from Knock Off and Trick users, as Ditto loses most of its value if its Choice Scarf is removed, which isn't ideal, but still workable. (fluff + contradicts rest of sentence) For instance, switching in on attacks such as Passimian's Knock Off may seem appealing due to Passimian's Dark resistance, but Ditto should always attempt to keep its Choice Scarf as long as it can. Ditto should also be kept away from Toxic, as it massively cuts into its ability to switch in and do its job, in tandem with possibly taking entry hazard damage.

Team Options
========

Cleric support from the likes of Florges, (AC) Diancie, (AC) and Vaporeon is great for keeping Ditto's health up and keeping it free of status, so teammates like Vaporeon, Florges, and Diancie can all fulfill this role. Pokemon that are hard to break through without setup also make for good partners, such as Mandibuzz and Cresselia, due to Ditto's ability to punish setup. Entry hazard removal is also very good alongside Ditto, making sure it doesn't take any unnecessary damage. Donphan, Mandibuzz, Mega Blastoise, and Flygon can all take on the entry hazard clearing (RH) role.

Other Options
========

Other Hidden Power types can be used instead to try to eliminate specific threats. Hidden Power Ice can be run in order to lure in and KO Noivern if copied off something like Ninetales, or and Hidden Power Fire can be used to beat Roserade. However, these are very specific instances and are usually not worth giving up the Salazzle-beating property of Hidden Power Ground.

Checks and Counters
========

In addition to this, Ditto's ability is able to switch in and out, refreshing refresh its PP infinitely by switching in and out, and this can be used to PP stall defensive teams, allowing it to and it can also copy enemy moves as well as utility moves like Heal Bell or Defog for its team's benefit against such teams.
