i don't think that's what he meant, that would be a big deviation from showdown

EDIT: OK I've read the whole thread now.

It should be done with the EXACT Showdown format. 4 vs 4, Item Clause and that's pretty much the only one, OPEN LEVEL with a maximum imposed at Level 50. Evasion Clause SHOULD NOT be in effect. In a format where you can target one Pokemon by two attacks, it's never used. And remove all the OU tier and stuff. The banned Pokemon are listed, all others are free game.

Guys don't bitch about sleep, deal with it. If you have followed anything regarding Showdown at all you'd know the top winners don't even use it.

I'm so glad I caught my Level 50 Zapdos earlier in the week.

Count me in please if the exact Showdown rules are followed :D.

~Rules~

Your Team must include 4 Pokemon and no more, no less.
You are allowed to change teams between rounds

You may use Platinum moves, but not platinum pokemon
Don't announce peoples teams, if you want to discuss teams do it via pm!
Disconnecting shall be resolved by the contestants of the battle, it shall be solved fairly and any major arguments may get both contestants removed from tourney.
Matches must be done within a week of announcment.
' Legal Hacks ' are not tolerated, neither are illegal movesets, both shall have you removed from this tournament.

Rules shall Also apply as showdown rules:

- No Judgement or Soul dew
- Open lvl, though max of lvl 50
- Sleep clause is not in effect
- Evasion clause is not in effect
- Item Clause is in effect

The following pokemon (below) are banned.

Banned

Non-ToysRUs Dragonite
Mew
Mewtwo
Tyranitar
Lugia
Ho-oh
Celebi
Kyogre
Groudon
Rayquaza
Jirachi
Deoxys
Rotom / Rotom - A
Dialga
Palkia
Giratina
Phione
Manaphy
Darkrai
Shaymin
Arceus

Now Eligible

Toys R Us Dragonite
Platinum Heatran - becasue it is caught at level 50 in platinum
Platinum Regigigas - because it is caught at lvl 1 in platinum

This will be a double elimination tournament, basically if you lose your not out, you must fight again and then if you lose AGAIN your out.

keeps going till no-one is left.

Rules, revised and everything.

And i never ment OU only, i'm not sure what i meant but that would fuck things up.

Remove any mention of the OU tier in the post, there is only 1 tier being used here and it is already being defined by the list of banned Pokemon. Mentioning the OU tier would imply that Latios is banned which it isn't.

You should also note very specifically that it is OPEN LEVEL with a maximum of Level 50, and not Level 50, cause might need to retrain stuff that they have above Level 50 and it limits some Pokemons moves as well.

I've got to ask but what's wrong with using the level balance? Nintendo official Tourneys, which I understand you are trying to replicate rather closely, only force your Pokemon to be level 50 ingame because there is no level balance for local battles. I don't see the problem with using Level Balance as long as all the sets are legal, without it it's just creating more work for people like me who already have a team for, say, the 4 v 4 Battle Tower but are just having to do more work than it's worth to enter a tourney for no aparent reason other than the guy I traded them off leveled to past 50.

Because some strategies rely on Level 1 Pokemon, such as Smeargle and Cubone, and there is no reason to limit those, when codes like unlimited Rare Candy's exist and I'm sure people would be glad to help out other people with Level Upping etc.

EDIT: I don't believe EVing 4 Pokemon is 'more work than it's worth' as you can do it in less than 30 minutes.

I would like to join.

@Pablo, that might be kind of hard for some pokemon, like cresselia and azelf. You know; the type of pokemon which are sometimes above level 50 due to rare candies used to determine better IV ranges.

but what if
a) that person isn't active anymore
b) you bred it yourself and never kept a copy for yourself for some reason
c) you don't want to re-trade for something you already have but over level 50
d)don't want to rebreed
EDIT: e) what blakblastoise said

and who said that you were stupid?

everyone had the same problem with the showdown itself and simply put, deal with it recatch it or something. Iv's arent as important in doubles as they are in singles

Well they are just other factors to consider when building your team, and maybe try and trade for some that are at Level 50 etc.

I'm sure 99% of the WiFi people would agree to give you an UT copy of the Pokemon they traded you free of charge so you can train it and use it in the tournament.

These are the official showdown rules

As an Egg Move, through breeding

From a Move Tutor

Already learned by a Pokémon, which was downloaded at an official Pokémon event or promotion

Already learned by a Pokémon, which was downloaded from another Pokémon game (such as the Pikachu, which knows Surf, from Pokémon Battle Revolution)

Competitors in each flight will play Single Elimination matches until 4 players remain in each flight. The remaining competitors will be re-paired into a top 16 playoff within their age division.
Each match during the elimination rounds and playoffs has a 15-minute time limit, and will be played using special Nintendo DS Lite systems, located at the event. When time expires, the tournament staff will determine the result of any unfinished matches using the tiebreakers outlined below.

Players who are found to be intentionally delaying the pace of their match will be disqualified from the event.

Players who are tardy to their match for any reason will be disqualified from the event.
The final match in each age division will be played without a time limit using Pokémon Battle Revolution.
 Tiebreakers:

When time expires, any games that are still in progress are halted, and players will be required to step away from their DS. Once all attacks and effects of the current turn have resolved, the tournament staff will determine the winner of the match using the following tiebreakers. If a player is choosing a move, the current turn has not started.
 Remaining Pokémon
The tournament staff will assess the number of Pokémon that each player has remaining.

If one player has more remaining Pokémon, that player wins the match. The losing player is eliminated from the tournament.

If both players have the same number of Pokémon remaining, the match is tied, and the result of the match is determined by Sudden Death, as described below.
Sudden Death
Players will have up to 3 turns to gain an advantage in number of remaining Pokémon over their opponent. After each turn has completed, the tournament staff will assess the number of Pokémon that each player has remaining.

If a player has more remaining Pokémon than his or her opponent at the end of any turn, that player wins the match. The losing player is eliminated from the tournament.

If both players have the same number of Pokémon remaining at the end of the first or second turn of Sudden Death, the match continues.
If both players have the same number of Pokémon remaining at the end of the third turn of Sudden Death, the match is a tie and both players are eliminated from the tournament.
 Other Information:

The use of external devices to alter a player’s Pokémon game is expressly forbidden. Random checks will be performed throughout the tournament to determine whether or not an external device has been used to modify a player’s game or Pokémon. Players found to have games that have been tampered with will be disqualified from the event, regardless of whether the player tampered with his or her game, or received a Pokémon or item that was tampered with by someone other than the player. It is the player’s responsibility to have legal Pokémon. Event officials have the final determination regarding the legality of a Pokémon.
A player should notify the staff immediately if he or she believes that there is a problem with an opponent’s Pokémon. At the end of the round, all match results become final. Issues that go unreported until after the round has completed will not change the result of that match, regardless of whether there is a problem with an opponent’s Pokémon or not.
Players and spectators are expected to demonstrate proper sportsmanship over the course of the event. A player may be disqualified from the event, based on actions taken by friends or relatives which disrupts the operation of the tournament.

I would like to join in if it is hold on weekends(because I'm in GMT+9:00).
I'm very excited to see this kind of doubles touney hold on Smogon. I'm going to use my team which I'm planning to use at the Japanese Showdown.

I can donate some Japanese Event Pokemons such as Ageto Celebi, Yokohama Pikachu or Shaymin.

Except showdown was playing for actual physical prizes. This is just a smalltime tourney in wifi where you can maybe win a few pokes.

I can help anyone in a very tight situation that needs level downing, if you know no one attacks me for doing it ?_?.

Also I lost my heatran apparently, and until I remember who I gave a copy to (if anyone) I can't offer it as a prize anymore
