We won!!! I could not be more proud of this team. This is my first win as a manager and I have to say this was a great team to crown this achievement with. It also feels a lot better for my personal record - my DPL and DWC wins were 2-3 performances, compared to this tour where I went 6-3 in games I actually played... which I think marks some of my improvement in the time I've been playing this tier. If you can't tell already though, I'm about to write a lot, including some backstory and shoutouts.
I had a ton of fun in DPL this year. DPL X is probably the smoothest team tour experience I've ever had in DOU. So when Derby signups rolled around, I figured I'd take a shot at redemption with
Arcticblast since he generously sat out and let
tyo and I manage in DPL. I figured I would similarly have a pretty decent run in this tour, with my involvement in ADV and DPP, my general skill level in ND and SV DOU, and the amount of DUU I picked up on while supporting my players in DPL.
At the draft, I knew I wanted to get
EternalSnowman again. That guy's the goat. Did not care about the price one bit. Tyo fell to us shortly after and the Cratermakers v2 core was complete. We got
Yellow Paint shortly after because I knew he was one of the most reliable picks around (foreshadowing...) and
fespy because he promised to tryhard in DPP which I didn't really feel like doing. I had to dip and Arctic filled out the roster.
The tour did not start off great. At all. We were in last place after week 3, with two losses and a tie. Yep, with the tour almost halfway through regular season, we had a singular point. Then we locked in and managed to sneak into playoffs at 4th seed, and blew a 4-1 lead to play the guys that hadn't lost a single week yet. Through some crazy plot armor, we made it in the end though.
Yeah this is the mickey tour that doesn't come with a custom avatar and has cursed ass adv in it, but every tour is what you make of it. Mons is mons, if you put in effort and seek to improve you'll learn something from anything you play.

Arcticblast glad we could finally pull one off after our like third or fourth attempt. You're a great friend and I'm glad to have you in my corner. Your logical thinking and maturity balances out my hot headedness and I think this is what makes our synergy so strong.
EternalSnowman yeah I don't even need to say it dawg, 7-2 into 9-1 performances is insanity. Perhaps we flew too close to the sun with Bruxish but stunt or die is the motto. I have no idea how or when you became so cracked at this game, but you are clearly at the top of the top right now in DOU and VGC too. See ya at worlds, we'll have to photoshop tyo into our selfie. And I can't wait to see you kill it in SCL.
tyo I know this is probably not the season you were looking to have but you clutched hard as fuck in the back half and got us some crucial wins. You really do have some crazy team tour plot armor. Would be happy to team with you again anytime, and I wish you continued success in VGC.
LogIce I cannot sing enough praises for you man. I know I already told you this but your value as a 3k pick is genuinely insane. Thank you for forcing me to be useful and actually grind tests with you week after week, we cooked up some heat squads and you piloted them incredibly well. 6-3 for a debut team tour run is super solid. You also had a great attitude and were useful in the other slots as well with scouts and some words of advice. The goat

You got me my start in this community by drafting me for DPL years ago (can't believe I've really been here for YEARS at this point) so when you reached out I was always gonna be picking you up. Nashrock for someone new to doubles you did pretty damn well! Whether it's dlc or fully evolved Pokemon, hope to see you in some more doubles tours and thanks for picking up some clutch wins and being so thorough even though I did not understand what was going on. I only put my tiebreak team together from your pastes/replays.
Toxinalpaca I'm sorry you did not get the run you were looking for in this tour, but I was impressed by how solid your mental remained week after week, the positivity was certainly much needed. Good luck in your next tour, congrats on defending the derby title, and thanks a ton for clutching up in the finals.
