SV: @EternalSnowman vs. @Chris32156
EternalSnowman should not be allowed to play week one and there is precedent disallowing it in an official capacity. You guys can do what you want for DOU tournaments of course, but this feels more common sense than it does controversial.
I am not sure how hosts wish to define “the first few weeks” or “end of March”, but week 1 starting March 10th surely does not qualify. This is not something that is up to interpretation so much as it is black-and-white based on the wording in the post — it’s clear this post indicates the user is not available to play week 1.
This leaves us in a situation which at absolute best is coincidental schedule changing and at absolute worst is pricefixing. I am not going to assume anyone’s intention, but the premise in official tournaments is that if someone indicates in a sign-up post they cannot play for X amount of time, they simply aren’t allowed to. Otherwise, some managers may bid knowing they actually will while others do not get the same treatment.
There is no loophole like this we would permit and there is no way to account for circumstances changing later when it could change the price of a player. The most recent example of this is Luthier in the current SPL, who had to sit out the first four weeks, but it also applied to Suapah and others in years prior. I am sure everyone is innocent or at least had ok intentions if they say that, but it doesn’t change the fact that this is an uneven playing field and goes against the spirit of a competitive tournament.
This is up to the hosts, but in an official and any serious tournament I follow, this wouldn’t be permitted.
