Welcome to the Doubles OU EV Spread Compendium! This is a thread designed to help old and new players alike in choosing the optimal Effort Value spreads and Natures for the most effective Pokemon in Doubles OU.
More often than not, newer players use inefficient EV spreads for their Pokemon. It can vary from just clicking the Suggested Spread button in the teambuilder (which is almost always a terrible choice), or running random EVs to make oneself seem "competitive". A more experienced player may take an EV spread off of the SmogDex. While the QC team is indeed hard at work updating these spreads, Doubles OU is a rapidly changing metagame, and many spreads are no longer as effective as they were in the past. Here is where our thread comes in. This resource sets out to inform both new and experienced players of the most common or effective EV spreads for top-tier Pokemon, while simultaneously providing a thread where alternative, yet viable EV Spreads and Natures can be discussed.
This thread is sorted alphabetically, with the spreads for each individual Pokemon roughly in order of how common they are. The names of the Pokemon are colored based on their place in the Viability Rankings: Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4 or 4', Tier 5 or 5'. If a particular item is needed to make the given spread relevant, its sprite is included to the left of the EVs. If no item sprite is shown, multiple different items may effectively accompany the given spread. The spreads can be fairly easily inserted into Pokemon Showdown by copying and pasting them, then deleting the | and hitting 'Enter' to move the Nature to the line below.
How Contributing Works
In this thread, you may suggest EV spreads and Natures for all Pokemon on the Doubles OU Viability Rankings. Any Pokemon not ranked will not be added to this compilation. If you wish to see the Pokemon sorted by Viability, you can check the Viability Rankings linked above and then come over to this thread looking for a specific Pokemon that interests you. If the spread and Nature you are suggesting is not standard, you must provide rational reasoning for why these non-standard spreads are viable and effective and damage calculations that prove you aren't lying. Please, however, do not suggest gimmicky or unviable Spreads in an attempt to create more sets for a Pokemon. Including additional spreads to speed creep these new EV spreads are also discouraged, as speed creeping has to end at some point. Post replays of the spread in action for a greater chance for it to be added.
(Note: This thread is for EV Spreads ONLY. You do not need to include a moveset in your post, though you may mention it in the description, as the moveset will often help explain the reasoning behind your EVs.) The point of this thread is to note of effective EV spreads. Unique movesets belong in the Creative Sets thread.

By popular demand, the DOU Speed Tiers can be found in this spreadsheet.
Pokemon A-G
Bulky Utility
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD | Quiet Nature | IVs: 0 Spe
- Maximum Special Attack and HP for power and bulk
- Quiet Nature + 0 Spe IVs maximize chance to be taking hits in Shield forme
- If using with Tailwind support, Modest + 188 Spe EVs outspeeds Mega Manectric, Modest + 80 Spe EVs outspeeds Mega Metagross
- Survives Kingdra's Hydro Vortex in Rain
- Avoids 2HKO from Zygarde's Thousand Arrows
- Dump in SpA
Rage Powder Support
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SpD | Sassy Nature | IVs: 0 Spe
- Minimizes Speed to check Trick Room
- Takes Landorus-T's Tectonic Rage
- Dump in SpDef, which also hits a jump point
Water Bubble Attacker
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Atk / 88 Def | Brave Nature | IVs: 0 Spe
- Takes Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu's Wood Hammer
- Dump in Atk
- Speed is fairly flexible, as Araquanid can also set Sticky Web and may have certain threats it wants to outspeed under Webs
- With 116 Spe, outspeeds Hoopa-U regularly and any threats EV'd to outspeed Deo-A in Tailwind after Webs
- Using its Wacan Berry, ensures survival of both Modest Tapu Koko's Gigavolt Havoc and Life Orb Kyurem-B's Fusion Bolt in Electric Terrain
Z-Trick Room
Ability: Heatproof | EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SpD | Relaxed Nature | IVs: 0 Spe
- Avoids the OHKO from 252 Mega Charizard Y's Overheat in Sun
- Dump in Def
- Relaxed + 0 Spe IVs maximizes Bronzong's chances to move first in Trick Room and Gyro Ball's power
- Use this with Tapu Bulu as a partner to mitigate Earthquake weakness
- Survives 252 Mega Charizard Y's Heat Wave
- Dump in Defense, minimizing Speed to outslow foes in Trick Room
Trick Room Attacker
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA | Quiet Nature | IVs: 0 Spe
- Maximizes bulk and power to best take advantage of Trick Room turns
- Splitting up HP / Def like this allows Mega Camerupt to survive Adamant Landorus-T's Earthquake
- Minimizes Speed with a Quiet nature and 0 Speed IVs
Utility Tank
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Atk / 16 Def / 120 SpD | Sassy or Careful Nature
- OHKOes bulky Tapu Lele with Heavy Slam
- Avoids the OHKO from Mega Metagross Thunder Punch in Electric Terrain
- Takes Kartana's Sacred Sword + All-out Pummeling with Leftovers recovery
- Dump in SpD, which also hits a jump point
- Sassy preferable on Flamethrower sets to avoid weakening the attack, making sure Flamethrower will OHKO non-AV Genesect
Bulky Support
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD | Bold Nature
- Maximizes Physical bulk, as Chansey's Special Defense is naturally quite high already
- splitting 248 / 8 for Special bulk means that even without its Eviolite, Chansey can still take the strongest special attack in the tier - Deoxys-A's Shattered Psyche in Psychic Terrain
Sun Attacker
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe | Timid Nature
- Maximizes power and speed for quick damage
- Modest is also an option for more power, though that leaves it outsped by Tapu Lele and Kyurem-B
- Outspeeds neutral-natured Landorus-T - great with Icy Wind support since this means it outspeeds most -1 Scarf Lando-T
- Takes Volcanion's Hydro Vortex in Sun
- Survives a +1 Acrobatics from Tornadus
- Dump in SpA, OHKOes offensive Kyurem-B in sun
Calm Mind
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 68 SpA / 56 SpD / 120 Spe | Bold Nature
- 2HKOes uninvested Mega Salamence with +1 Icy Wind
- Outspeeds -1 Tornadus and anything slower
- Hits a Defense jump point, dump in SpD
- Works best with Electric or Grassy Seed, can also work with Kee Berry
EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 16 SpA / 24 SpD | Sassy or Calm Nature
- Takes two hits from Icium Kyurem-B (Subzero Slammer + any other hit)
- Takes two hits from Electrium Tapu Koko (Gigavolt Havoc + any other hit)
- Dump in SpA
All-out Attacker
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe | Naive Nature
- Maximizes speed and power, Deoxys-A should never invest in any bulk
- A Special Attack-increasing nature can be chosen over a Speed-increasing one, but that leaves Deoxys-A outsped by Mega Manectric, Modest Scarf Lando-T, and Zeraora
Trick Room Setter
EVs: 252 HP / 108 Atk / 52 Def / 96 SpA | Brave Nature | IVs: 0 Spe
- Takes Kartana's Leaf Blade; at +2 (after a Diamond Storm Defense raise), Diancie takes an Iron Head from Mega Metagross
- Minimizes Speed (Brave + 0 Spe IVs) to move sooner in Trick Room
- OHKOes +1 Kommo-o with Moonblast
- Dump in Atk, which ensures Diancie will 2HKO standard Incineroar
- If a bulkier spread is desired, using a Sassy Nature over a Brave one ensures Diancie can stomach Modest Volcanion's Steam Eruption
Mixed Attacker
EVs: 28 HP / 140 Atk / 68 SpA / 20 SpD / 252 Spe | Hasty Nature
- Maximum Speed
- Survives LO Tapu Koko Thunderbolt in Electric Terrain
- OHKOes Tapu Koko after it has taken LO recoil and 252/4 non-Shuca Heatran with Earth Power
- Maximizes Atk given above constraints
- Hasty lowering Mega Diancie's Defense is easily mitigated by Diamond Storm boosts
- For non-Earth Power sets, taking Koko Tbolt isn't as important
- 188 Atk / 68 SpA / 252 Spe | Hasty Nature guarantees that Diamond Storm OHKOes Zapdos after SR
Sand Rush Attacker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe | Adamant Nature
- Maximizes Atk and Spe to take full advantage of limited turns of sand
Bulky Utility
- Takes +1 Zygarde's Tectonic Rage
- Takes <50% from max SpA Life Orb Kyurem-B's Ice Beam
- Dump in Atk
- Minimizes Speed to power up Gyro Ball
Offensive Trick Room
EVs: 244 HP / 152 Def / 112 SpA | Quiet Nature
- Survives -1 Mega Metagross's Iron Head
- Survives Mega Charizard Y's Overheat in Sun
- Uses a negative Speed nature for efficacy in Trick Room, typically used on semiroom and thus doesn't minimize Speed IVs, can run Modest
- Dump in SpA
EVs: 28 HP / 80 Def / 152 SpA / 216 Spe | Timid Nature
- Outspeeds non-Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Tapu Lele
- OHKOes 0/0 Mega Salamence with Hyper Voice
- HP/Def split ensures it takes Kartana's Leaf Blade
Bulky Storm Drain
EVs: 236 HP / 152 Def / 36 SpA / 84 SpD | Relaxed Nature | IVs: 0 Spe
- Takes Landorus-T Tectonic Rage
- Ensures that 144 SpA Life Orb Kyurem-B's Ice Beam does 50% max, meaning Gastrodon can Recover off the damage
- Dump in SpA
- Non-Tectonic Rage sets can use 92 SpA (and thus only 28 SpD) to OHKO minimally invested Landorus-T with Ice Beam
Choice Scarf Attacker
- Speed ties with opposing Choice Scarf Genesect, outspeeds Choice Scarf Tapu Lele
- Maximizes Attack to boost the majority of its common moves
- 96 in SpA to OHKO bulky Landorus-T (Ice Beam) and 2HKO Mega Metagross (Flamethrower) even with the wrong Download boost
- Outspeeds non-Choice Scarf Tapu Lele and Kyurem-B; though max Speed is also useful for opposing AV Gene
- 96 in SpA to OHKO bulky Landorus-T (Ice Beam) and 2HKO Mega Metagross (Flamethrower) even with the wrong Download boost
- Dump in Atk
- For a bulkier alternative, EVs: 136 HP / 112 Atk / 36 SpD / 224 Spe | Hasty Nature
- OHKOes 0/4 Tapu Lele with +0 Iron Head
- Outspeeds offensive Kyurem-B
- HP / SpD split ensures survival of Kingdra's Z-Hydro Pump in rain
Bulky Trapper Support
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 SpD | Sassy Nature | IVs: 0 Spe
- Takes Landorus-T's Tectonic Rage
- Dump in SpD
- Minimizes Speed for efficacy under Trick Room
- 180+ Def is an option to ensure survival of 252 Atk Kartana's Bloom Doom
