In a close vote, Mint16 takes the win for the first round back from hiatus! The winning team and description will be added to the Hall of Fame once I get some sleep  As for this week...

A late entry into ORAS, Volcanion made a huge impact last generation and ended up in Tier 1 of its Viability Rankings. Sadly, its job is considerably more difficult this generation with more special attackers to take advantage of its considerably lower Special Defense stat and a middling Speed tier. Steam Eruption and Heat Wave are near-guarantees on every Volcanion set, but items and the last two moveslots are reasonably flexible, with options including Assault Vest, Firium Z, Shuca Berry, Hidden Power Ice, Sludge Bomb, Overheat, Haze, and Stone Edge.

Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, September 26th at 11:59pm EST!

So, I built this team around mega gengar actually, but its got volc in it

I started with mega gengar + lando, cuz trapping + intimidate is cash.
then i added tapu lele cuz it lets you beat marsh with geng, courtesy of psychic terrain, as long as you play well. At this point, i didnt really have a super solid win con, so i added celesteela because it wins games, and at this point i felt kinda bad about deo-a + tapu lele teams. then zap and volc kinda round the whole thing out. im using roar volc because its sick af, the only thing that can set tr on it is hoopa, and lando t checks that good enough i guess.

This is the team I built for my match vs Demantoid in Snake tour yesterday. The idea behind it was just to make some kind of solid semiroom team that gave me a lot of options against whatever he wanted to bring. Hoopa Lax was the starting point as its really not something I've really used a ton of and its obviously quite potent. The EVs on these guys I ripped from somewhere else but Hoopa atk is for always 2hkoing bronzong at -1. Nothing special on Fini aside from running a little bit of creep for other fini, Mence has a bit more atk than standard to try and snipe a high roll on some Hoopa or lele that are poorly EVd. Volcanion was a late addition when I kept losing to Memoric 's scizor and it really worked well in tests and realized it was a great fit. Sub was cool and i loaded up on defense to handle Marshadow which I believe is now not 2hkod by non-LO variants. Band tar is such a strong attacker I wanted to use it at some point and it fits well here . Its speed is for deoxys in tailwind while still being slow enough to hit first in trick room.

Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 28 HP / 208 Atk / 20 SpD / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Diamond Storm
- Moonblast

Tapu Bulu @ Grassium Z
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 196 HP / 252 Atk / 60 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Superpower
- Swords Dance
- Protect

Kyurem-Black @ Assault Vest
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 HP / 220 SpA / 36 Spe
Quiet Nature

- Ice Beam
- Icy Wind

Volcanion @ Mago Berry
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 152 HP / 252 SpA / 104 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heat Wave
- Steam Eruption
- Sludge Bomb
- Protect

Tornadus @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 8 HP / 244 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Acrobatics
- Superpower
- Tailwind

Scrafty @ Iapapa Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch
- Low Kick

This is a semiroom team i built against shay for seasonal. The team built around the core Mega Diancie + Tapu Bulu. Volcanion added to cover Steels weakness and as a rain check. At this point i want to try something new and grassy seed Tornadus comes in mind, it helps my physical attacker from Intimidate and provide Tailwind. The team are still pretty slow even when Tailwind up so i added the everyone's favourite AV Kyub. The team lacks Intimidate and i dont like the idea to run Lando-T with Bulu so i added Scrafty which also helpful for Diancie to set TR. Overall, the team are pretty PsySpam weak but its still managable by playing around Bulu, Kyub, and Scrafty.

I'm a bit late, but we got an extra submission out of it! Time to vote for the team you feel deserves to win this week:

megacyber
Sacred Bond
miltankmilk
Heliodor

Voting closes on Friday, September 29th, at 11:59pm EST!

megacyber mainly because i have a team in my builder almost exactly the same as that. no rock+fairy resists is a big issue and sandstorm volcanion is too wild for me

Ever since Hashtag debuted the set in DPL, Assault Vest Kyurem-B has steadily grown in popularity. With an Assault Vest equipped, Kyurem-B becomes a behemoth with sky-high stats all around. Easily switching in on most special attackers and benefitting from its naturally great Defense, Kyurem-B is free to slow foes down with Icy Wind and take advantage of its great mixed coverage. As a helpful glue, Assault Vest Kyurem-B is rarely the starting point of a team, but it goes with almost anything so feel free to get creative with the remaining team members!

Submissions deadline is Tuesday, October 3rd at 11:59pm EST!

fuck im always bad at writing this shit up. i just threw this team together today. I haven't played in a while and someone told me that heatran isnt rly used much atm, which i don't really think is fair to the mon, so i decided to build around my favorite heatran set, Z-sunny Day.

Z-day is cool because you get a speed boost and the sun, it's like diet quiver dance except heatran is way better than volcarona. you can also just use the z-move on a fire move for a nuke if you want, which i do quite frequently.

After heatran i felt like i wanted a landorus because i usually want a landorus. again this is a lord set but what do you honestly expect bro??? this lando lives a lot of shit, and with a mago berry, you can pressure with intimidate for a long time. I don't have any calcs for you atm but i feel like you get the berry activation upwards of 60% of the time. it does live like every hp ice which is sweet. setting up rocks overall is amazing for the team, between icy wind drops and venu leech seeds, your opponents will usually want to be switching, and this allows you to pressure them from the early game, since lando is usually not a bad lead.

kyurem is here because i was tired of being weak af to rain, he also gives me a much needed switchin for special attacks and all the other things he does, idk what to say about him that i havent already said on this forum.

Marshy is here to provide offensive pressure alongside heatran once it gets set up, and providing super useful priority to the team. once you get these two out in sun, the game usually just ends. this guy is broken.

koko because not using tapus is bad. not 100% on shuca yet, but i've been pretty pleased with it so far in practice. you don't need the guy to hit all that hard and the ability to survive a hit that surprises your opponent (not anymore since i'm posting this team on the forums) is really useful.

how often do you get to the last mon and realize you don't have a mega? seems very infrequent to me. i stuck venusaur in here as a gut instinct to balance out the offensive and defensive natures of this team, and i don't think there is a better choice for the team.

having a fatty that never dies does a lot for the team, and the defensive typing is there. it's important to plan your mega evolution timing before the game starts because sometimes you want to save it for a sick chlorophyll turn, but sometimes you need to be able to pivot into it to absorb a hit, and you don't want to be doing that with non-mega

Sort of late, first attempt, AND I'm against AV Kyube's conceiver himself but whatever. This team was built on the Mega Gengar-Celesteela core, because I thought that trapping stuff that celes can set up on was evil. I also like using both koko and fini together because they are good. Since I didn't have intimidate support, I added Lando-T. Then AV Kyu-B glued the team together, and takes advantage of E-terrain to throw strong fusion bolts. I think between koko, fini, and kyu-b that the team does quite well against rain teams.

Koko uses nature power to take advantage of both terrains, which frees up the slot for Taunt, since this team has a bit of a trick room weakness. I use AV lando because it lives stuff and still hits hard. Edge on lando to kill Zapdos. I combined two of Fini's standard sets together, using both Heal Pulse and Calm Mind, so that I can be more versatile in battle, though at the cost of lacking protect. Both M-Gengar and Celes have HP fire and Flamethrower respectively because of our terrible ferro matchup otherwise. All spreads except kyu-b's are found on their respective analyses.

As for Kyu-b, I used talkingtree's spread over hashtag's because I find the former spread superior to the latter (no shade tho).

i build this team around toge + metagross cuz toge is a qt 3.14, its p cool
flamethrower toge is a pretty sneaky way to bop ferro and gene (the evs are to outspeed gene in tw)
metagross always lives an lo spectral thief, and t punch is pretty cool for fini, which this team is pretty overprepared for but eh. The rest of the team is kinda uninteresting, roar on koko is to stop z-tr zong, and im just using z ally switch hoopa cuz it seemed cool lol. a more srs version of this team would be running tr

Basic idea here was to try and use lopunny. I chose encore as the 4th move because fast encore is super good. Threw on Aegislash and CB Zyg for some extra offensive pressure -> sneak to KO weakened Marshadow. Fini + Zap gives me a defensive backbone with a nice offensive and defensive pivot in AVKB. Pretty neat team that i've been playing around with on ladder, give it a shot!

Congratulations to Hashtag, who was fittingly enough won the round based around Assault Vest Kyurem-B! His team and description will be added to the Hall of Fame in commemoration. On to the next round...

This ancient dinosaur from the very beginning of the National Pokedex took a little while to make an impact since being released. Mega Venusaur has the rare capability to switch in on three of the four island guardians while retaining some offensive presence. With Leech Seed and Synthesis in its arsenal, Mega Venusaur can heal itself up after taking hits on the switchin to continue to do so later on in the match. Sadly, Mega Venusaur is pretty useless against most Steel-types, and a few common offensive threats like Mega Salamence and Tapu Lele scare it out. The popularity of Kyurem-B, whose ability Teravolt allows it to ignore Thick Fat, further gives Mega Venusaur issues. This week, use its positive matchups against Rain and most bulky offensive builds to inspire your creations and show us what you've got!
