Sorry everyone, had a busy day yesterday and this slipped my mind. There's another tie for me to break, so this round I'm going to cast my vote for Nido-Rus! His team and description will be added to the Hall of Fame, which at least for the moment will remain sorted in reverse chronological order. As for the next week...

The candy clown Blacephalon, with an extremely impressive Special Attack stat, found its way to slip onto the USUM Doubles OU Viability Rankings, so what else does it have going for it? Fire/Ghost provides decent type coverage for the metagame, with Life Orb, Choice Scarf, and Z-Crystal sets showing promise with team support. Sadly, without team support, Blacephalon is likely to have a short-lived stay on the field, due to its poor defensive typing and stats. Between speed control, redirection, and offensive answers to its checks, you can decide how that support is best given, so for this new Beast Booster, let's see what you can come up with!

Deadline for submissions is Monday, December 24th at 11:59pm EST!

this is pretty basic but with some fun oranguru interactions thrown in here, lots of pivoting around allows funky stuff w/ ally switch and intim and what not, this team is kinda fun tbh but i think blace is bad lol. firium z mind blown is cool and then u have telepathy mind blown!! wow! also you can ally switch shadow ball the marsh and if they dont read the ally switch they're not hitting either mon with marsh at all. anyway team rules. vote for me please

Blacephalon is pretty cool and the z set lets it get the beast boost relatively easily. Marsh thrashes most of blace's counters like ttar, mence, kyub, etc. With blacephalon and marsh killing steels Gard becomes a lot more threatening and tr is a nice form of speed control. Lando also helps with steels. It gives the team a defensive backbone and intimidate is cool. Ttar hits hard and helps check mence, psyspam, and rain. Amoonguss does sleep stuff and checks rain helps to set up tr. The team is pretty fun.

After a bit of a weird vote with Z strats' coming in right at the deadline, we're tied. Since the other team has a Marshadow and I don't want to put an unusable team in the Hall of Fame, I'm going to cast my vote for n10sit and declare him the winner!

Having edged into the Viability Rankings towards the end of SM, Gothitelle still sits on the outskirts of viability. However, with the banning of Marshadow, one of its largest threats has been removed from the metagame. The ability to trap opponents is invaluable, and with team support options including Trick Room, Helping Hand, Charm, Ally Switch, Fake Tears, Heal Pulse, and more, Gothitelle is all about helping its teammates thrive. Somewhat reliable healing with Recycle + pinch berry is also an option, but aside from helping out its team, Gothitelle's Special Attack stat and offensive movepool are far from impressive, so it struggles to do much by itself. Thus, Gothitelle teams are really more about what it supports, which is down to you!

Submissions close Thursday, January 4th at 11:59pm EST!

Pretty straight forward. Trap and kill stuff that prevent kommo-o from sweeping with koko/gross/gothi. Then, put stuff to sleep and intimidate to make some free turns for kommo-o to set up. Finally, use rage powder and gothitelle’s support moves to assist kommo-o’s sweep.

Note: Helping hand ice punch can be used to snipe zap turn 1 and prevent tailwind.
Note2: All EV spreads are super lazy because why not.
Note3: Balloon on gothitelle is a weird option but this team needed another ground resist, and helping hand eq with lando is a decent way to play around slow bulky opposing teams.
Note4: Bulletproof improves the gengar matchup, which this team is weak to.

I decided to start my build around Goth and Mawile because they're a really good core. Goth let's mawile set up sd's and tear through teams under trick room. Heal pulse helps keep stuff alive and psychic is so goth isn't just taunt bait. Double vest volcanion and bulu form a really nice defensive core, check rain, and can kill stuff under tr. Without a ground immunity grassy terrain is helpful for volc and mawile. Hoopa provides a second tr setter and it helps the other mons by breaking protect. Finally, scrafty provides a way to get tr up with fake out, z move suprises opponents, and it ohko's standard kyub. Double intimidate helps patch Goth's poor defense and trapping is just really cool.

him.

the idea of this is u use the support of tapu fini and gothitelle to secure a fell stinger boost for bee while keeping it alive. fini has defog bc we want them , rocks rly punish bee and the general nature of the team is to switch a lot. kyube and gene are very standard, rly tough to pick between hp fire and earth power on kyube, went with hp fire but i dont think either choice is wrong here. koko is fairium for opposing kyube and mence and to dent things u couldnt normally dent like lando and other koko, this team is absolute hot fire secure another week for n10siteams please

I started the team with the idea that i would use goth to trap bulky mons that cant do much back to it and ko them with its partner, or use them as set up bait. With this in mind I made sure I could trap and KO kyub, zapdos, and tapu fini. Having these three mons out of the way would make it easy to have a successful mence sweep, so I added mence next. Then I added mons that could actually KO the above mons. I chose fightinium z kartana as its one of the few mons that can ohko both tapu fini and AV kyub. To cover zapdos I added kyub. I added lando next because double intimidate + shadow tag is gr8 would rate 8/8. Then I added tapu fini at the end to act as a nice pivot to alleviate pressure on kart and mence to hard switch in, and to act as a secondary wincon with CM.

Sets on fini and kyub are standard. I chose z-fighting kartana over z-steel kartana because my team felt kinda steel-weak. Thats also the reason I chose to run fire blast on DD mence. The speed on lando is to be slow so I can U turn into kartana safely, but fast enough to outspeed min speed hoopa-u so i can hit it with u turn. Foul play goth is cuz psychic is weak as piss and doesnt hit anything except for amoonguss, which is a non-threat to this team. Foul play also does like 50% to mega gross, which is cool. The goth set is designed to just be annoying. Trick room is pretty much only for opposing trick room teams, but it comes in handy against rain and tailwind.

GOTH LAX IS BACK

First things first: this team was heavily inspired by the GothLax teams built by Japanese VGC players @sasisu_memo and @Infinity_Ju. I adapted their teams and ideas into a VGC format, won an MSS with it, and have now brought it here to terrorise the good folks of DOU with the neverending berry eaters.

Essentially, now that Marshadow is gone, GothLax has lost one of its biggest counters. The relatively soft-hitting metagame gives Gothitelle a lot of options on what to trap and Snorlax a lot of options on what to set up in front of. Manectric and Landorus-T are meant to cycle Intimidate while maintaining flexibility on the team with Volt Switch + U-turn, with Manectric also providing Snarl to neuter special attackers. These two Pokemon also feature the team's main ways to damage Ferrothorn, with Overheat and Tectonic Rage respectively. Meanwhile, Celesteela and Tapu Fini are both secondary wincons in themselves, especially Tapu Fini which can set up alongside Gothitelle's Heal Pulse support. Both Pokemon also provide reasonably hard checks for Rain (NB: Acrobatics on Celesteela OHKOs Ludicolo).
