Dugtrio @ Focus Sash
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 244 Atk / 12 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
IVs: 21 HP / 0 Def / 0 SpD
- Earthquake
- Sucker Punch
- Reversal
- Sludge Wave

Dugtrio is one of the very few trappers seen in Monotype, giving it a specific niche on Ground. Arena Trap allows Dugtrio to effectively trap and KO opposing Pokemon that may threaten its teammates. Its amazing Speed and decent Attack allow it to pick off weakened threats, while Sucker Punch allows it to more easily deal with Choice Scarf Pokemon if its Focus Sash is broken. One of the most important reasons Dugtrio is used is to trap and KO Tapu Bulu, a huge threat for Ground. Utilizing Sludge Wave with 12 Special Attack allows Dugtrio to trap Tapu Bulu when it is locked into Wood Hammer and OHKO it in return, eliminating the main threat in the Fairy matchup. However, Dugtrio does see plenty of use in other matchups. For example, 21 HP IVs allow Dugtrio to take two Seismic Tosses from Pokemon like Chansey, and hit back hard with Reversal. Dugtrio pairs amazingly well with powerful attackers such as Choice Band Excadrill and Life Orb Landorus, as Dugtrio picks off their checks, preventing them from being as easily walled. Dugtrio also works great in tandem with Gravity, as it allows Dugtrio to trap and remove problematic Flying-types such as Celesteela.

The character count for spotlights is supposed to be around 1000 or less. This one has around 1700, so we need to trim a lot of it down.

Remove Add Comments (AC)= add comma (RC)= remove comma (AH)= add hyphen (RH)= remove hyphen

Dugtrio is one of the very few trappers seen in Monotype, giving it a specific niche on Ground. Its ability,(RC) Arena Trap,(RC) allows Dugtrio to prevent opposing Pokemon from switching out, therefore allowing it to effectively trap and KO opposing Pokemon that may threaten its teammates. Its amazing Speed and decent Attack allows allow it to pick off weakened threats, while Sucker Punch allows it to more easily deal with Choice Scarf Pokemon if its Focus Sash is broken. One of the most important and unintuitive reason reasons Dugtrio is utilized used is for its ability to trap and KO Tapu Bulu,(AC) a huge threat for Ground,(AC) with Sludge Wave. Tapu Bulu is a very threatening Pokemon for a Ground team due to its ability to OHKO nearly every Ground-type even when utilizing a Choice Scarf set. Additionally, its ability Grassy Terrain halves the damage of Earthquake, which is run on the majority of Ground Pokemon. For example, 21 HP IVs allows allow Dugtrio to live take (you either say "survive" or "take". Can't say "live". Saying "take" helps with the character count) two Seismic Tosses from Pokemon like Chansey,(RC) allowing it to and hit back hard with Reversal. As would be expected, it Dugtrio pairs amazingly well with powerful attackers such as Choice Band Excadrill and Life Orb Landorus, as Dugtrio picks off their respective checks,(AC) preventing them from being as easily walled. Dugtrio also works great in tandem with Gravity,(AC) as it allows Dugtrio to trap and remove problematic Flying-types such as Celesteela. Don't count out Dugtrio when preparing your Ground team, as it may be the Pokemon you need to deal with some troublesome Pokemon!

Thanks, implemented. I kept one of the sentences explaining Sludge Wave a little more because running it is pretty much the single most important reason to use Dugtrio at all, and needs to be specified a little bit. I agree that it was too long, just have trouble removing the fluff (this brings me to 1170 which is the same amount as the other facebook spotlights I wrote, so I hope it's ok).
