[OVERVIEW]

Duosion is a niche Calm Mind user thanks to its ability in Magic Guard, which allows it to not be easily worn down through means such as Toxic poison, Leech Seed, and hail, especially alongside its reliable recovery. Duosion's high Special Attack also gives it a solid amount of offensive presence, especially after setting up. However, its low Speed can be problematic, as it forces Duosion to take a hit before setting up, which doesn't pair well with its mediocre bulk even with Eviolite. Other Calm Mind users like Mesprit, Musharna, and Clefairy all share certain traits with Duosion, with the former two being Psychic-types and the latter having Magic Guard, giving Duosion a lot of competition. Mesprit and Mushara don't depend on Eviolite for their bulk, which allows them to hold alternate items, and can serve as consistent Fighting-type checks, but they lack Duosion's longevity. Clefairy is able to switch into many threats and use support moves like Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave throughout the game before setting up but has much lower Special Attack and Defense. Duosion also suffers from having only four moveslots, forcing it to choose between having a better matchup against physical attackers or Dark-types, which both give it trouble otherwise.

Moves
========

Psyshock serves as Duosion's STAB move and lets Duosion take on opposing Calm Mind users like Clefairy. Calm Mind is Duosion's main setup move, allowing it to better offensively pressure foes while not being as easily broken through by special attackers such as Aurorus and Rotom-F. It also pairs well with Acid Armor, which boosts Duosion's Defense in order to not be beaten by Pokemon like Stoutland and Golurk. Signal Beam can be run instead to hit Dark-types like Pursuit Spiritomb and non-Crunch physical Skuntank, although Duosion still has to catch Pokemon like Alolan Raticate on the switch in fear of Knock Off. It also gives Duosion a better matchup against opposing Psychic-types.

Set Details
========

Magic Guard enables Duosion to set up with no fear of being whittled down by residual damage from Toxic and Hail. It also gives Duosion an immunity to entry hazards, giving it an easier time switching in if need be.

Usage Tips
========

Duosion is best utilized as a late-game sweeper, because if not running Signal Beam, it can't start setting up until all Dark-types are KOed. If running Signal Beam, Duosion can use it as a lure to KO on a predicted switch into a Dark-type like Absol, which otherwise beats it one-on-one. However, not running Acid Armor means Duosion also fears physical wallbreakers like Stoutland, so they should also be accounted for. If Duosion is running Acid Armor, it can lure in physical attackers and set up an Acid Armor on the switch. Additionally, aim to KO Pokemon that may be running moves that can put a stop to or greatly cripple Duosion, such as Eelektross's Knock Off, Manectric's Switcheroo, Audino's Encore, Froslass's Taunt, and Mudsdale's Roar. Duosion can be used throughout the game to absorb status moves and take hits from and threaten out certain weaker Pokemon like Altaria. It can use this role as a chance to lure in Dark-types before double switching out to a Dark-type check or to simply wear them down via entry hazards, although Duosion has to watch out for Pursuit in this case. Duosion can also lure Trick and Switcheroo users before switching out in order to make them give away their Choice item to another teammate, potentially giving Duosion a somewhat easier time late-game. Once its threats are out of the way, Duosion can switch in against bulkier Pokemon or not very effective attackers like Altaria and Hitmonchan and force a switch, which it can use as its opportunity to set up. However, when setting up, watch out for strong attackers like Stoutland and Aurorus, as they can fish for critical hits in order to bypass Duosion's defensive boosts.

Team Options
========

Dark-type checks are a must for Duosion, which includes Fighting-types like Primeape, Bug-types like Scyther, and Fairy-types like Silvally-Fairy. Silvally-Fairy and Alolan Persian can serve as Knock Off absorbers and provide Parting Shot in order to potentially give Duosion opportunities to set up. Other Dark-types such as Alolan Raticate and Absol can serve as checks for certain Dark-types like Sableye and RestTalk Spiritomb, as well as to Ghost-types like Oricorio-G. Other pivots like bulky Lanturn give Duosion setup opportunities by luring in Pokemon which Duosion can set up on, such as Altaria and Gastrodon, before pivoting out. Grass-types such as Ludicolo and Lilligant can take out certain threats to Duosion like Curse Quagsire and Jellicent. Wallbreakers like Stoutland and Aurorus can use their raw power to break through Duosion's threats while weakening the opposing team so Duosion has an easier time cleaning up Entry hazards can also help with this, so Duosion appreciates setters like Qwilfish, Froslass, Mudsdale, and Regirock. The former two can also help cripple Knock Off users and Dark-types, while the latter two can switch in against some of Duosion's checks such as Aggron and Stoutland. Qwilfish's Toxic Spikes is also notable, as Qwilfish especially lures Skuntank in a lot, ideally forcing it to take more chip damage. Qwilfish, Froslass, and Haunter can run Destiny Bond, notably the latter two, as they can lure Dark-types in and pick them off.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Duosion can run Special Defense EVs for a better matchup against special attackers such as Aurorus and Drampa, but this leaves it more vulnerable to physical attackers like Stoutland if it hasn't set up yet. In this case, Acid Armor is by far preferred over Signal Beam, although it does struggle to set up Acid Armor on certain Pokemon.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types**: Both special and physical Skuntank with Crunch win the matchup against Duosion, even if it has Signal Beam. If Duosion isn't running Signal Beam, Dark-types wall it completely. This includes Alolan Raticate, Absol, and Shiftry, which can all use Duosion as setup fodder or just KO it with little to no prior damage. Other Dark-types like Sableye and Alolan Persian can utilize Taunt to wear Duosion down slowly but surely. RestTalk Spiritomb is especially notable, as it takes little from even Signal Beam and uses Duosion as setup fodder.

**Wallbreakers**: Even if Duosion has managed to set up a Calm Mind, certain strong special attackers like Choice Specs Jellicent and Alolan Exeggutor can easily break though it. Other special attackers like Aurorus can only reliably beat Duosion one-on-one if it hasn't set up a Calm Mind. If it isn't running Acid Armor, physical wallbreakers like Stoutland and Golurk can 2HKO Duosion with ease.

**Unaware Users**: Quagsire ignores all of Duosion's stat boosts and takes little from any of its attacks. Because of this, Quagsire can comfortably switch in against Duosion and use it as setup fodder, with its only fear being a potential confusion from Signal Beam. However, this is only if Quagsire is running Curse, as Duosion PP stalls it otherwise. Furthermore, Pyukumuku can PP stall Duosion with the combination of Block and Spite.

**Eviolite Removal**: Knock Off from Pokemon like Eelektross, Tangela, and Kabutops makes setting up immensely more difficult for Duosion, although losing its Eviolite isn't fatal if it has already managed to get some boosts. Trick and Switcheroo users like Choice Specs Froslass, Choice Scarf Mesprit, and Manectric can stop Duosion in its tracks even after setting up.

**Taunt, Encore, and Phazing**: Taunt users like Aggron, Oricorio-G, and Froslass can stop Duosion from setting up or using Recover, although the latter two do not like taking a Psyshock. Encore users like support Audino lock Duosion into a single move, disabling its ability to switch between attacking, setting up, and restoring its HP, which allows it to be easily played around. Pokemon like Mudsdale can take a hit and use Roar to force Duosion out and negate its stat boosts.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Duosion is a niche Calm Mind users thanks to its ability in Magic Guard. This, alongside its reliable recovery, allows it to not be easily worn down through means such as Toxic, Leech Seed, and Hail. (it makes it seem like the reliable recovery is the reason it's not being worn down)
  • Its high Special Attack gives Duosion a solid amount of offensive presence even without any investment, especially if it manages to set up. (not really though, it's pretty darn weak uninvested)
  • However, its low Speed can be problematic as it forces Duosion to take a hit before setting up, which doesn't pair well with its mediocre bulk, even with the Eviolite. (and it's so fucking passive it's not even funny)
  • Other Psychic-type Calm Mind users like Mesprit and Musharna give Duosion a large amount of competition, with Mesprit's higher Speed and both's better natural bulk that doesn't depend on the Eviolite, allowing them to hold other items like Leftovers, Colbur Berry, and Farium Z. However, Duosion has the advantage in its previously mentioned longevity, with Mesprit being more easily revenge killed and Musharna being susceptible to being chipped down, especially with its form of recovery in Moonlight being weakened by Hail. (i fell asleep reading this, could probs condense this info along with the clef bit below to basically emphasise how outclassed it is as a cm user) (mention that it's a psychic-type that really REALLY doesn't check fighting-types)
  • Clefairy is another Calm Mind user with the ability Magic Guard, but lacks offensive presence and has no way to boost its physical Defense, which makes it all the more weak to Taunt users and physical attackers.
  • Duosion does suffer from having only four move slots, as it forces Duosion to choose between having a better matchup against physical attackers or Dark-types, which both give it trouble otherwise.

Moves
========

  • Calm Mind is Duosion's main setup move, allowing it to better offensively pressure foes while not being as easily broken through by special attackers such as Aurorus and Rotom-F. (i'd probs merge cm and acid armour together)
  • Psyshock serves as Duosion's STAB move and lets Duosion 1v1 opposing Calm Mind users like Clefairy. (yah this is probs a good point)
  • Acid Armor pairs well with Calm Mind, as it boosts Duosion's Defense in order to not be beaten by Pokemon like Stoutland and Golurk.
  • However, Signal Beam can be run instead to hit Dark-types like Pursuit Spiritomb and non-Crunch physical Skuntank, although even then it has to catch Pokemon like Alolan Raticate on the switch in fear of Knock Off. It also gives Duosion a better matchup against opposing Psychic-types.
  • Recover heals off any damage done to Duosion so that it cannot be worn down. (remove)

Set Details
========

  • Max Defense works well alongside Calm Mind's Special Defense boost, especially if not running Acid Armor. (just remove this bit, pretty darn obvious)
  • Magic Guard enables Duosion to set up with no fear of being whittled down by chip damage like Toxic and Hail. It also gives Duosion an immunity to hazards, giving it an easier time switching in if need be.

Usage Tips
========

  • Duosion is best utilized as a late game sweeper. This is because if not running Signal Beam, Duosion can't start setting up until all Dark-types are KOed. If running Signal Beam, Duosion should use it on a predicted switch into a Dark-type like Absol, which otherwise beats it 1v1. However, not running Acid Armor means Duosion also fears physical wallbreakers like Stoutland, so they should also be accounted for. (one of the main reasons is, it just requires teams to be weakened to f)
  • Additionally, aim to KO Pokemon that may be running moves that can put a stop to or greatly cripple Duosion such as Clefairy's Knock Off, Manectric's Switcheroo, Audino's Encore, Froslass's Taunt, and Mudsdale's Roar. (no to knock clef)
  • Duosion can be used throughout the game to take hits from and threaten out certain weaker Pokemon like Weezing. (i mean, dbond weezing is a thing so it's a bit dodgy)
  • It can use this as a chance to lure in Dark-types before double switching into a Dark-type check or to simply wear them down via hazards. Duosion can also lure Trick and Switcheroo users before switching out in order to make them give away their choice item to another teammate, potentially giving Duosion a somewhat easier time late game. (cept if you get smacked by pursuit, which should also be mentioned here. especially skuntank)
  • Once its threats are out of the way, Duosion can switch in against bulkier or resisted Pokemon like Altaria and Hitmonchan, and force a switch, which it can use as its opportunity to set up.
  • If running Acid Armor, identify what the opponent's best switch in is and set up accordingly. (... i mean this is just repeating stuff tbh, also it's so obvious like lol)
  • When you feel Duosion is set up enough with one of the moves, you can begin to set up with the other. However, if facing strong foes like Aurorus and Stoutland, don't set up too leisurely as this can allow them to fish for a critical hit, which ignores the defensive boosts. (ok, if you really wanna keep these points, legit merge the last 3 and then trim em)
  • can. absorb. status. from. shit.

Team Options
========

  • Dark-type checks are a must for Duosion, which includes Fighting-types like Primeape, Bug-types like Scyther, and Fairy-types like Silvally-Fairy. Silvally-Fairy as well as many Dark-types such as Alolan Persian and Alolan Raticate (alolan rat is super meh as a knock absorber. yes it often has a zmove but i really do not want to switch it into knock users) can serve as Knock Off absorbers and checks to Restalk Spritomb and Sableye, as well as other Ghost-types like Froslass in the Dark-types' cases. Silvally-Fairy and Alolan Persian can additionally provide Parting Shot, which can potentially give Duosion an opportunity to set up.
  • Certain other pivots like bulky Lanturn and Togedemaru (switch this around or say choice scarf togedemaru) give Duosion setup opportunities by luring in their respective threats like Altaria and Lanturn before pivoting out.
  • sturdy fighting-type resists, cuz ain't no gurdurr check, or even a decent ape check
  • Grass-types such as Ludicolo and Lilligant can take out certain threats to Duosion like Quagsire and Jellicent.
  • Wallbreakers like Stoutland and Aurorus can use raw power to break through Duosion's threats while weakening the opposing team as a whole so Duosion has an easier time cleaning up the match.
  • Hazards can also help with this, so Duosion appreciates setters like Qwilfish, Froslass, Mudsdale, and Regirock. The latter two can also switch in against some of Duosion's checks such as Aggron and Stoutland, respectively. (ok why else are the former good?) (bulky lass fucks over many dark-types and qwil checks quite a lot of knock users)
  • Qwilfish, Froslass, and others like Haunter can run Destiny Bond, with it being very notable for the latter two as they can lure Dark-types and pick them off.

  • Duosion can run Special Defense instead of Defense in order to give it a better matchup against special attackers such as Aurorus and Oricorio-Sensu :blobglare::blobglare::blobglare::blobglare::blobglare::blobglare::blobglare::blobglare::blobglare: (also ori-g just taunts). In this case Acid Armor is by far preferred over Signal Beam. (say what it's worse versus too)
  • Psychic can be used as Duosion's STAB move in order to give it a better matchup against Quagire (i mean, it's still able to stall you out with recover, especially if it isn't relaxed. i'd much rather mention gurdurr tbh, or some other physical wall), with its higher damage output and potential Special Defense drops, but means Duosion can't reliably 1v1 certain other Calm Mind users like Clefairy.
  • Duosion can serve as a setter and sweeper on Trick Room teams, but this is better accomplished by Beheeyem and Musharna.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types**: If Duosion isn't running Signal Beam, Dark-types wall it completely. This includes Alolan Raticate, Absol, and Shiftry, who can all use Duosion as setup fodder or just KO it with little to no prior damage. Others like Sableye and Alolan Perisan can utilize Taunt to wear Duosion down slowly but surely. Restalk Spiritomb is especially notable as it takes little from even Signal Beam and uses Duosion as setup fodder. Skuntank's both special and physical with Crunch can also win the 1v1 against Duosion even if it has Signal Beam. (skuntank should probs be mentioned first. mention how you can set up versus physical tomb tho)

**Wallbreakers**: If Duosion hasn't managed to set up a Calm Mind yet, strong Special Attackers like Aurorus and Drampa can easily break though it. Others like Choice Specs Jellicent and Alolan Exeggutor can take Duosion out even at +1 Special Defense. If it isn't running Acid Armor, physical wallbreakers like Stoutland and Golurk can 2HKO Duosion with ease. (i mean, drampa also fucks it at +1) (nah to golurk, because unless it's cb, which it wont be, you can easily acid armour on the turn they attack then recover next turn)

**Quagsire**: Quagsire ignores all of Duosion's stat boosts and takes little from any of its attacks. Because of this, Quagsire can comfortably switch in against Duosion and use it as setup fodder, with its only fear being the potential confusion from Signal Beam. (has to be curse tho, because the other sets are pp stalled by duosion)

**Dark-types**: Skuntank's both special and physical with Crunch win the 1v1 against Duosion even if it has Signal Beam. If Duosion isn't running Signal Beam, Dark-types wall it completely. Magic Guard enables Duosion to set up with no fear of being whittled down by chip damage like Toxic and Hail. It also gives Duosion an immunity to hazards, giving it an easier time switching in if need be.

Usage Tips
========

Duosion is best utilized as a late game sweeper. Additionally, aim to KO Pokemon that may be running moves that can put a stop to or greatly cripple Duosion such as Eelektross's Knock Off, Manectric's Switcheroo, Audino's Encore, Froslass's Taunt, and Mudsdale's Roar. Duosion can be used throughout the game to absorb status moves and take hits from and threaten out certain weaker Pokemon like Weezing. It can use this as a chance to lure in Dark-types before double switching into a Dark-type check or to simply wear them down via hazards, albeit Duosion has to watch out for Pursuit in this case. Duosion can also lure Trick and Switcheroo users before switching out in order to make them give away their choice item to another teammate, potentially giving Duosion a somewhat easier time late game. Once its threats are out of the way, Duosion can switch in against bulkier or resisted Pokemon like Altaria and Hitmonchan, and force a switch, which it can use as its opportunity to set up. However, when setting up watch out for strong attackers like Stoutland and Aurorus as they can fish for critical hits in order to bypass Duosion's defensive boosts.

(something about not revealing what your third move is until need be, you have a bit where you talk about predicting signal beam but it's far better against shit like absol and rat if you haven't shown your move. same thing applies with acid armor)

Team Options
========

Dark-type checks are a must for Duosion, which includes Fighting-types like Primeape, Bug-types like Scyther, and Fairy-types like Silvally-Fairy. Silvally-Fairy as well as Alolan Persian can serve as Knock Off absorbers and provide Parting Shot in order to potentially give Duosion an opportunity to set up (these can also bait trick). Other Dark-types such as Alolan Raticate and Absol can serve as checks for certain Dark-types like Sableye and Restalk Spiritomb, as well as Ghost-types like Oricorio-Sensu (oricorio-g). Certain other pivots like Togedemaru and bulky Lanturn give Duosion setup opportunities by luring in their respective threats like Lanturn and Altaria before pivoting out. Grass-types such as Ludicolo and Lilligant can take out certain threats to Duosion like Quagsire (sets w/o curse lose to duosion tho) and Jellicent. Wallbreakers like Stoutland and Aurorus can use raw power to break through Duosion's threats while weakening the opposing team as a whole so Duosion has an easier time cleaning up the match. Hazards can also help with this, so Duosion appreciates setters like Qwilfish, Froslass, Mudsdale, and Regirock. The former two can also help cripple Knock Off users and Dark-types while the latter two can also switch in against some of Duosion's checks such as Aggron and Stoutland, respectively. Qwilfish's Toxic Spikes is also notable as it especially lures Skuntank in a lot, ideally forcing it to take more chip damage. Qwilfish, Froslass, and others like Haunter can run Destiny Bond, with it being very notable for the latter two as they can lure Dark-types in and pick them off.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Duosion can run Special Defense instead of Defense in order to give it a better matchup against special attackers such as Aurorus and Drampa, but leaves Duosion more vulnerable to physical attackers like Stoutland if it hasn't set up yet. In this case Acid Armor is by far preferred over Signal Beam (also lessens things duosion can set up acid armor on)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dark-types**: Skuntank's both special and physical with Crunch win the 1v1 against Duosion even if it has Signal Beam. If Duosion isn't running Signal Beam, Dark-types wall it completely.

**Wallbreakers**: Even if Duosion has managed to set up a Calm Mind, certain strong Special Attackers like Choice Specs Jellicent and Alolan Exeggutor can easily break though it. Others like Aurorus can only reliably 1v1 Duosion if it hasn't set up a Calm Mind. If it isn't running Acid Armor, physical wallbreakers like Stoutland and Golurk can 2HKO Duosion with ease.

**Quagsire (maybe make this unaware users since counter/spite pyuku also pp stalls you)**: Quagsire ignores all of Duosion's stat boosts and takes little from any of its attacks. Because of this, Quagsire can comfortably switch in against Duosion and use it as setup fodder, with its only fear being the potential confusion from Signal Beam. However, this is only if running Curse, as Duosion PP stalls Quagsire otherwise (probably worth specifying this bit earlier on).

**Eviolite Removal**: Knock Off from Pokemon like Eelektross, Tangela and Kabutops makes setting up immensely more difficult for Duosion, although it isn't fatal if it has already managed to get some boosts. Trick and Switcheroo users like Choice Specs Froslass, Choice Scarf Mesprit, and Manectric can stop Duosion in its tracks even after setting up.

**Taunt, Encore, and Phasing**: Taunt users like Aggron, Oricorio-G, Froslass can stop Duosion from setting up or using Recover, although the latter two do not like taking a Psyshock. Encore users like support Togedemaru and Audino lock Duosion into a single move, disabling its ability to switch between attacking, setting up, and restoring its HP, which allows it to be easily played around. Pokemon like Mudsdale can take a hit and use Roar to force Duosion out and negate its stat boosts.

[OVERVIEW]

Duosion is a niche Calm Mind users user thanks to its ability in Magic Guard. This Magic Guard (might be a little confusing otherwise) allows it Duosion to not be easily worn down through means such as Toxic poison, Leech Seed, and Hail hail (if it's capitalized it's referring to the move Hail, which nobody uses), especially alongside its reliable recovery. Its Duosion's high Special Attack gives Duosion it a solid amount of offensive presence, especially after setting up. However, its low Speed can be problematic, (AC) as it forces Duosion to take a hit before setting up, which doesn't pair well with its mediocre bulk, even with the Eviolite. Other Calm Mind users like Mesprit, Musharna, and Clefairy all share certain traits with Duosion, with the former two being Psychic-types and the latter having Magic Guard, which gives it giving Duosion a lot of competition. Mesprit and Mushara don't depend on Eviolite for their bulk, (AC) which allows them to hold alternate items and can serve as consistent Fighting checks, (AC) but they lack Duosion's Longevity longevity. Clefairy is able to switch into many threats and provide use support moves like Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave throughout the game before setting up, but has much lower Special Attack and physical Defense. Duosion does suffer from having only four move slots moveslots, as it forces Duosion to choose between having a better matchup against physical attackers or Dark-types, which both give it trouble otherwise.

Other special attackers like Aurorus can only reliably 1v1 beat Duosion one-on-one if it hasn't set up a Calm Mind.

On the contrary, Furthermore, Pyukumuku can PP stall Duosion with the combination of Block and Spite.

**Eviolite Removal**: Knock Off from Pokemon like Eelektross, Tangela, and Kabutops makes setting up immensely more difficult for Duosion, although Knock Off losing its Eviolite isn't fatal if it has already managed to get some boosts.
