In time long past, the Lands Between, just a continent on one world in a vast universe of countless worlds, was the home to the Crucible. The Crucible was a source of natural life, where beings were born and blessed and lived in its wake.
This world then in its glory, attracted the attention of the outer gods, abstract beings of incomprehensible power and goals. Many of them wished to impose their will on the Lands Between. One of these outer gods, The Greater Will, chose Marika as its vassal. On a great meteor, The Greater Will sent down the Elden Ring, who Marika took into herself. She married the greatest warrior the world has known, Hoarah Loux, who led the Tarnished, those blessed by the grace of The Erdtree. He slew all who lay before him and together they claimed the entire of the Lands Between and forged The Golden Order, a dynasty to last aeons. He was renamed Godfrey, the First Elden Lord.
To ensure the survival of her order, Queen Marika remade the Elden Ring, removing destined death and sealing it away. This removed the very concept of death, granting her, her demigod children and all her subjects life eternal, but for the peasantry it was a cursed life of endless torment.
When the last of her enemies were defeated by Godfrey, Marika divorced him and sent him away on The Long March. He and his Tarnished were robbed of the grace of gold, and could no longer see the guidance of the Erdtree. He was replaced by Radagon, the Second Elden Lord.
However even The Golden Order could not last forever, and in The Night of the Black Knives, a fragment of destined death was stolen, and used to slay Godwynn the Golden, Marika's favourite son. This marked the first death of a demigod, and perhaps anyone, in time unknown. In her grief, Marika shattered the Elden Ring, betraying The Greater Will. She has called once again, for the Tarnished to return home from The Long March to her aid.
The guidance of grace has returned to those Tarnished who left all those years ago, as well as to their decendants. They have come back to the Lands Between now, to fight each other and demigods alike. Only one of them can ultimately enter the erdtree, restore the Elden Ring, and become the Third Elden Lord.

1. No screenshots except to those mentioned in your role PM as on your team. No copy/pasting from your role PM ever. You may paraphase. You can paste logs/conversations at any time.
2. Do not be a poor sport, and play to your win condition.
3. The vote format will be bolded "!vote ALIAS" formatted as such, so I can CTRL-F to confirm I do not miss anyone. Failure to include the "!vote" text will render your vote invalid. This is your only warning.
4. To unvote or change your vote, the format will be bolded "!unvote ALIAS" and then a new, bolded "!vote ALIAS" if you wish to change. If you fail to unvote I will count your new vote anyways, but it is nice for consistency when reading through.
5. To vote for nobody, use "!vote No vote" - this is a valid vote option. Ties will result in no vote/sleep. "No vote" receiving majority will also result in no vote.
6. Do not speak to dead users about the game. There is a graveyard chat for villagers and spectators. The mafia have deadtalk enabled with teammates.
7. Please add me to your group DMs, Smogon conversations, and game servers on Discord.
8. https://discord.gg/TnymVetEDv This is the game's discord link. You must join this to participate in this game. You must nickname yourself in line with your forum name on smogon in the server, and you may not attempt to impersonate another player/non player to try gain an advantage.
9. Submit your actions in your Smogon Role PM conversation, not over Discord. This will make it more difficult for me to accidentally miss your action.
10. Other standard Circus rules not listed above apply.
11. We should all have a good general idea of what mafia is and the goal of the game. It is possible to think of ways to circumvent the rules. Sometimes these are smart and sometimes they are just in bad faith. I will be final judge over what is playing in good or bad faith and permissible if something is missed. Please try your best to only play the game within the confines of the game, and not bring out of game dynamics into it when possible (and within reason).

1. This is a 1 Town vs 1 Mafia game, there are no third parties or any other wincons beyond "eliminate town" or "eliminate mafia".
2. Town wincon: You are aligned with The Golden Order (Town) and win when The Crucible (Mafia) has been eliminated.
3. Mafia wincon: You are aligned with The Crucible (Mafia). You win when only players of your faction remain in the game.
4. There are 3 roletypes in this game: Shardbearer, Tarnished and Great Enemy. Shardbearer have no class specific ability, but will on average have stronger individual roles. The Tarnished and Great Enemy have unique class benefits which will be listed below.
5. This game will have certain roles which may "Phase Shift". This essentially means they will have a 1 shot death proof, which after being consumed they will enter a new phase and gain, or switch abilities. Every character with a phase shift has a unique flavour line announcing their shift in thread.
6. The main day vote in this game will deliver a killing blow on the target as usual. It will also publicly flip whoever the vote landed on every time. I am making this clear, because of the existence of roles which may survive being voted the first time.
7. I will not lie to you as a host, your results are reliable, with the exception of possible modifiers which will be mentioned below.
8. This game will have roughly twice as many aliases as there are players. Each npc alias will have a flavour assigned to it, as well as a class (Shardbearer, Tarnished, Great Enemy), with each class having a unique effect on the npc aliases.
9. There will effectively be two day votes in this game, as the Tarnished may also privately vote in one in their role pms. Only the winner of the Tarnished vote will be made public. The Tarnished vote does not guarentee a role flip like the main vote.
10. This game is intended to be high kill power, and lower disruptive than previous town vs mafias (designed before yetis was hosted).
11. Every player and npc will have an alias, there won't be an alias reveal based on participating in the day vote.
12. Phases will start at 48/48.
13. The game is capped at 30 players.
14. Role flavour is connected to abilities, but not alignment at all. The roles were for the most part designed in advance independent of alignment, then later assigned to an alignment, many of them also swapped alignments during the design process.
15. All roles are not created equal and there is no real attempt for them to be equally strong within factions.
16. Deadline will be, probably 10pm GMT+1.

1.a. Shardbearer: As a Shardbearer, you have no role type specific ability.
1.b. Npc Shardbearers will have a 1 shot deathproof and phase shift.
2.a. Tarnished: As a Tarnished, you may participate in the Tarnished vote during the day phase by voting privately to the host. Each day phase, the Tarnished vote will run alongside the main vote in private. The person who receives most Tarnished votes at day end will take damage along with the main day vote.
When only one Tarnished (excluding npcs) is left standing, they will be crowned as the Elden Lord. An announcement “An Elden Lord has been crowned” will be made. At this point, the Tarnished vote will cease and The Elden Lord will instead receive an infinite vig they may use during the day OR night. If used during the day, it will still resolve at day end.
2.b. Npc Tarnished will passively visit a random player each night, this has no effect beyond visiting.
3.a. Great Enemy: As a Great Enemy, you have access to unique information on npcs. You will be sent a result pregame, which will detail flavour and aliases of a set of npc(s). No other Great Enemy players will receive a pregame result on the same npc as you. If you are aligned with The Golden Order you will receive information on 1-2 npcs. If you are aligned with The Crucible, it could be any number.
3.b. Great Enemy npcs have no unique passive.

1. Empowered/strongwilled: Ignores disruptive roles
2. Strongman: Can pierce through protective roles
3. Ninja: "Action" can no longer be seen by info roles, for example a track would give no result or a watch would not see the alias that has ninja modifier
4. High priority: Modified action now resolves at high priority
5. Low priority: Modified action now resolves at low priority
