OC Elden Ring Mafia Game Thread D9 Deadline 30/08/24 @ 10pm GMT+1

I am begging the Town info roles to NOT go to/through laurel because again, we do not know what info roles mafia have to be able to find people. You could insta-out yourself like many villagers did claiming role, thinking it was harmless behind aliases, and then cartel empower target to ln in Sam's game.

Remember our poor number two cop, Alice, and avoid her fate!

Also DO NOT TARGET AN ALIAS SOMEONE ELSE TELLS YOU TO.

There could easily be a watcher on the alias and you are being told the same target as 10 other people. They will then know 10 non-npc aliases and be able to find good roles faster.

If anyone has told you a target for n0 please tell me asap who because that is the single scummiest thing someone can do in a game with 30 npcs.

Just to reiterate something I've said in pubchat: if you're an info role and you caught scum, you don't have to go through Laurel or whoever else is going to try to lead when day 1 starts. You can just publicize your result and we'll go from there. And if you didn't catch scum...we might have to randvote or no vote day 1 and that's okay. It happens, it happened last game and I think it happens in more than half the games. Just because night 0 is over doesn't mean it's suddenly time to no longer chill with the info (tm).

"The village leader" isn't some vacancy that has to be filled no matter what. They have to be trusted first. Putting a bunch of our eggs in one basket for no reason other than because "someone's gotta do it" is stupid. The #1 priority is to find a safe person to claim to. There is soooo much time to spill the beans later.

And from the perspective of having fun, I always think the earlygame is the most interesting portion of the game anyway especially for townies. It's when everyone can partake in the public discussions and talk about what the best potential plays are, speculate about numbers and roles, etc. That bit always ends too soon with the village leader system, why rush it?
 
See below rule, Mafia Great enemies are given any number of NPC aliases meaning they start the game with a lot more alias info than town. Also, plenty of aliases for teammates to hide behind.



3.a. Great Enemy: As a Great Enemy, you have access to unique information on npcs. You will be sent a result pregame, which will detail flavour and aliases of a set of npc(s). No other Great Enemy players will receive a pregame result on the same npc as you. If you are aligned with The Golden Order you will receive information on 1-2 npcs. If you are aligned with The Crucible, it could be any number.
 
Double posting cause I forgot something important:

Yeti is right that if Laurel gave you a single target for your n0 action, it's very risky to follow especially if you're an important role. Laurel is right that we want town actions to hit non-NPCs and he has (somehow, sadly, because people don't chill with the info on n0) a good dose of NPC info. But the right way to go about it is to ask Laurel for multiple targets (I recommend 3-4) and picking one to target. Or just rand, it's not that bad to find an NPC. This way a potential scum Laurel can't find you with a Watcher.

That said please there's no reason to claim/tell anyone anything during night 0 and there probably isn't much of one during day 1 either. You can try to figure out the game without a village leader for a bit. It's not productive to centralize information on someone we don't know is clean.

i think its reasonably clear that in OC, this is the same sort of role that laurel has but far weaker
