Altarianite Entei is one of the most premier Extreme Speed user in Mix and Mega which thanks to its great Fire/Fairy STAB, is able to function as a wallbreaker, revenge killer or a late-game sweeper. With Pixelate boosted STAB Extreme Speed , it is able to threaten a plethora of offensive Pokemons such as Dragonite, Zygarde, Lucarionite Terrakion and Spectrier. Sacred Fire is a powerful secondary STAB and allows it to deal heavy damage to Steel-types that otherwise resist Extreme Speed. Sacred Fire is also very useful in fishing for burns against defensive walls such as Lunala and Zapdos, allowing Entei to break past through them later in the game once they are chipped enough. Stone Edge is a strong coverage option that OHKOes Ho-oh and also helps against Zapdos and opposing Entei. Howl allows it to further boost its attack thus making it easier for Entei to sweep late game. Double Edge could be used over Howl, giving Entei immediate breaking power against some defensive walls. An adamant nature maximizes its potential as a revenge killer and potential late game sweeper while a pre-mega ability in Inner Focus makes sure Entei is able to punish Manectite users that like to switch in against it.

Despite its merits, Entei struggles against the most common physical walls in the meta such as Slowbro, Altarianite Hippowdon, Rhyperior, Lunala, Banettite Toxapex and defensive Eternatus. Hence offensive Pokemons that can exploit these checks such as Kartana, Landorus-T and Solgaleo are greatly appreciated by it. Defensive Flying-type slow pivots such as Zapdos that help Entei to safely enter the field while also checking Ground-types are also good partners for it. Sablenite Corviknight in particular performs this role very well and also keeps Stealth Rock off the field and thus is an ideal team-member for it. Pheromosa and Spectrier form a very powerful offensive core with Entei as both are able to threaten most of Entei's checks while in turn Entei can switch-in and force Altarianite Dragonite out, a mon severely disliked by the former two. Slowbro is another solid partner for Entei, being able to threaten ground types while also being able to switch-in against Zygarde. This duo however is weak to Lunala and Eternatus. Entei also appreciates Gyaradosite Toxapex as its team-member as it is able to beat Slowbro, Eternatus and Lunala, all three being very popular checks to Entei. This core however, stacks weakness against Ground-types. Lastly, sets running Double Edge are tremendously helped by Ampharosite Blissey which can set Stealth Rock reliably thus making it easier for Entei to overcome Lunala, Zapdos and Eternatus.

[SET COMMENTS]
Pinsirite Entei is a potent wallbreaker in Mix and Mega and is great alternative to the Altarianite set if the stone is being used on some other Pokemon. Aerilate boosted STAB Extreme Speed allows it to threaten a large number of offensive Pokemons including Altarianite Entei. Sacred Fire allows it to hit Steel-types such as Corviknight, Solgaleo and Magearna while also fishing for burns against Zapdos, Toxapex and Lunala making it easier for it to break through them later. Through its typing of Fire/Flying , Pinsirite Entei is also able to do well against Altarianite Ground-types such as Hippowdon and Landorus, two Pokemon its Altarianite counterpart struggles with. Stone Edge is a good coverage move against Zapdos and also OHKOes Ho-oh. Howl favours a late-game sweep for Pinsirite Entei and thus, is a popular option for it. Double Edge forgoes the sweeping aspect but allows Entei to potentially blow past Toxapex and Lunala with some chip.

Pinsirite Entei is checked by notable physical defensive walls such as Slowbro, Rhyperior, Zapdos and defensive Eternatus and thus appreciates the support of offensive threats such as Spectrier, Kartana, Altarianite Landorus-T and Pheromosa. Due to its 4x weakness to Stealth Rock, Pokemon that can clear hazards away like Corviknight, Zapdos or Excadrill are essential teammates for it. Ground-types such as Hippowdon or Rhyperior that can readily switch into Electric types like Zeraora or Regieleki which threaten Pinsirite Entei are also appreciated by it. Rhyperior in particular, also answers Eternatus and can reliable set Stealth Rock and thus forms a powerful core with Pinsirite Entei. Lunala also is a good defensive partner, being able to switch into Zapdos and Salamencite Landorus-T while also checking defensive Calm Mind Psychic-types that can set up on Entei. Altarianite Dragonite forms a popular and solid dual Extreme Speed core with Entei where the former can threaten Electric types and threaten Zygarde while the latter deals significant damage to Steel-types and Toxapex. This duo, however needs good chip to get past through Slowbro.

Other Options
=============
Toxic could be used over Howl or Double Edge to cripple Lunala, Rhyperior and Non-Sablenite Mew and Zapdos but loss of the previously mentioned two moves is huge for Entei. Altarianite sets could opt for Stomping Tantrum as the 4th move for Toxapex but is very niche and thus isn't ideal.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-type Pokemon**: Defensive Ground-types like Altarianite Hippowdon, Tyranitarite Rhyperior, Swampert and Landorus-T are strong checks to Entei - being able to withstand all its attacks while also securing an OHKO or a 2HKO back. Although Altarianite Hippowdon or Landorus-T can be beaten by Pinsirite varient if they switch in , Rhyperior on the other hand checks both varient solidly.

**Bulky Water-types** Toxapex and Slowbro are two metagame staples that Entei greatly struggles with. Slowbro with its massive physical bulk and Scald is a hard counter to any Entei set while Toxapex can lose to Pinsirite sets running Double-Edge if it is chipped enough.

**Eternatus** Defensive Eternatus is the bane of Entei's existence in Mix and Mega being able to check both sets reliably while 2HKOing it back. In addition, Pressure also allows it to consume the PP of Extreme Speed thus further deterring its ability as a revenge killer or sweeper.

**Electric-types** Pinsirite Entei struggles against offensive Electric-types like Zeraora and Regieleki that threaten it out immediately. Zapdos is annoying for both the sets, being able to secure a 2HKO with hurricane or just pivot out with Volt Switch while easily tanking any attack Entei uses. However, Zapdos may struggle if it gets burnt and Stealth Rock is up.

**Stealth Rock** Entei's ability to revenge kill is greatly damaged via Stealth Rock. While Altarianite sets can sometimes get away, it is absolutely pivotal that Stealth Rock are off the field for Pinsirite Entei to function efficiently.

**Other Defensive Walls** Lunala and Mew are solid answers to Entei being able to tank hits and 2HKO it in return. Without Shadow Shield however, Lunala may lose to sets running Double-Edge.

Regarding this check: I believe Pinsirite & Altarianite should be swapped, as Pinsirite is generally regarded as the more effective set in the current metagame.

With Pixelate boosted STAB Extreme Speed , it is able to threaten a plethora of offensive Pokemons such as Dragonite, Zygarde, Lucarionite Terrakion and Spectrier Pheromosa. Additionally, Sacred Fire + Double-Edge is capable of overwhelming a defensive Eternatus to the point where it is easily picked off with Extreme Speed. Likewise, with Slowbro, Double-Edge + Sacred Fire can overwhelm Slowbro to the point where it is 2HKO'd with Double-Edge + Stealth Rock damage. Reword this to make Double-Edge the main focus. An adamant nature maximizes its potential as a revenge killer and potential late game sweeper while a pre-mega ability in Inner Focus makes sure Entei is able to punish Manectite users that like to switch in against it. Possibly include Intimidate as a whole? (+Landorus-Therian, Arcanine)

Slowbro is another solid partner for Entei, being able to threaten ground types while also being able to switch-in against Zygarde. This is a pretty redundant sentence honestly. This duo however is weak to Lunala and Eternatus. Perfect place to mention Rhyperior as a partner: it can force both of these out whilst also setting Stealth Rock to get ranges with Double-Edge / get Sandstorm + Stealth Rock chip on Eternatus, allowing it to be picked off by 2 Extreme Speeds Entei also appreciates Gyaradosite Toxapex as its team-member as it is able to beat Slowbro, Eternatus and Lunala, all three being very popular checks to Entei. This core however, stacks weakness against Ground-types. Lastly, sets running Double Edge are tremendously helped by Ampharosite Blissey which can set Stealth Rock reliably thus making it easier for Entei to overcome Lunala, Zapdos and Eternatus.

Regarding all Lunala mentions - it is unlikely to be used as a non-emergency check in real games due to its extreme vulnerability to status conditions, which severely hamper its effectiveness. Consider replacing these with alternate options.

Pinsirite Entei is a potent wallbreaker in Mix and Mega and is great alternative to the Altarianite set if the stone is being used on some other Pokemon. Reword this to promote Pinsirite over Altarianite. Potentially mention Facade as an option over Stone Edge for various status conditions - but I do not mind if this is ignored, this does not have to be implemented.

Pinsirite Entei is checked by notable physical defensive walls such as Slowbro, Rhyperior, Zapdos and defensive Eternatus Landorus-T and thus appreciates the support of offensive threats such as Spectrier, Kartana, Altarianite Landorus-T Has this been run in 2021? I think Landorus-Therian in general is just a better partner (and great for "bird spam" cores!) and Pheromosa. Lunala also is a good defensive partner, being able to switch into Zapdos and Salamencite Landorus-T Lunala should be capable of switching into both variants just fine. while also checking defensive Calm Mind Psychic-types that can set up on Entei. Mention how if using this core, strong hazard removal is recommended (such as
Regieleki)
Altarianite Dragonite forms a popular and solid dual Extreme Speed core with Entei where the former can threaten Electric types and threaten Zygarde while the latter deals significant damage to Steel-types and Toxapex. This duo, however needs good chip to get past through Slowbro. Slowbro should not actually cause this duo much of a problem; Slowbro itself is a pretty bad answer overall to offensive Dragonite, the bigger worry is that the two cannot really approach either's checks very easily.

Toxic could be used over Howl or Double Edge to cripple Lunala, Rhyperior and Non-Sablenite Mew and Zapdos but loss of the previously mentioned two moves is huge for Entei. Consider potentially adding this over Altarianite sets could opt for Stomping Tantrum as the 4th move for Toxapex but is very niche does not hit any other relevant target aside from this and thus isn't ideal. Reworded to avoid confusion with Toxapex being very niche.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Other Defensive Walls** Lunala and Mew are solid answers to Entei being able to tank hits and 2HKO it in return. Without Shadow Shield however, Lunala may lose to sets running Double-Edge.
Neither of these Pokemon are exceptionally relevant to Entei's viability; Mew is rather rare as is and doesn't pump out enough damage against Entei to reliably KO it before it can KO back, and Lunala hates burns / Double-Edge.
