Entei QC (0/3)

QC (0/3) Editing finished, now time for checks.
126078

[Overview]

  • Entei hits 145 attack with Pinsirite and 155 with Altarianite, giving Entei a major offensive presence with its new typings of Fire/Flying and Fire/Fairy, and gives Extreme Speed STAB in these additional types, making it a prime revenge killer.
  • Entei's bulk is also impressive, allowing Entei to stay standing for a considerable amount of time, despite not being backed up by any reliable recovery.
  • This legendary Fire-type also gets access to Sacred Fire, allowing it to burn common Steel-types and any non-Fire-typed physical attacker that dares to switch in with impunity.
  • Entei's coverage moves, while limited, give it the edge needed to deal with a good portion of what would be surefire answers to its STAB combinations, and has a boosting move in Howl, allowing it to at least have some option to set up against passive walls and switches.
  • Entei has some issues dealing with Blue Orb Steel-types, Psychic Terrain, and bulky Water types, but remains one of the most popular Pokemon in Mix and Mega despite these shortcomings.

Moves
=========
  • Extreme Speed is the main draw of the set; it gives Entei Fairy-type priority, and allowing it to land a solid hit on faster Pokemon that would otherwise just outspeed and try to KO Entei, with Dragon-types and Loppunite stone holders being hurt the most from this added priority.
  • Sacred Fire is Entei's other main STAB, sporting both 100 base power and a 50% burn chance on anything that can withstand the initial hit. This Fire-type move also naturally covers most of Fairy's resistances very well.
  • The next two moves are flexible slots based on what Entei needs. Frustration is a stronger move than Extreme Speed, and helps overpower some of the bulkier walls in the tier, such as Arceus forms. Stone Edge is coverage for Fire-types, along with Golisopod, and helps Entei combat some Red Orb users. Stomping Tantrum is a coverage move that deals with a majority of Blue Orb Steel-types, and allows Entei to hurt Primal Groudon a decent amount.
  • Howl is Entei's best set up move, and lets it OHKO all common Zygarde and Magearna variants with Extreme Speed and Sacred Fire, repsctively.
  • Toxic is there to give bulky threats, especially Primal Groudon, issues with switching into Entei.
Set Details
=========

  • This set aims to maximize bulk on Entei while maximizing its offensive prowess, allowing Entei to tank the likes of defensive Necrozma-Dusk Mane and Support Ghosteus, and hit them hard in return, while still having priority for faster Dragon, Dark, and Fighting-types.
  • The Fairy-type added by Altarianite not only gives Entei a STAB boost on its Pixilate attacks, but also allows for Entei to withstand Dark, Dragon, and Fighting-typed moves better, and does not gain any weaknesses beyond the rarely used Poison-type.
  • Pixilate itself turns Extreme Speed and Return/Frusturation into Fairy-typed moves, turning them from neutral coverage at best into heavy-hitting moves in their own right.
  • This set runs Adamant nature not only becuase it's optimal with a bulky attacker set, but because it's mandatory on an Entei that knows Extreme Speed.
  • This set can also be run with 252 Speed instead of HP, allowing Entei to outspeed Zygarde. slower support Arceus, and all common Primal Groudon variants, allowing it to hit them with Sacred Fire or Frustration without the risk of being outsped.

Usage Tips
========
  • Entei is best reserved for either cleaning up something that's trying to sweep you and in range of Extreme Speed or as a lategame cleaner to pick off weakened opponents. Try to limit switching it in on a threat unless you have to.
  • Especially for Altarianite Entei, keep close tabs on opposing Blue Orb users, and try to eliminate them to clear the way for Entei.
  • If Entei must go down, make sure there is not an unaccounted sweeper, such as Terrakion and Zygarde, that the rest of the team cannot handle before doing so.
  • Entei is worn down significantly from Stealth Rocks, so removing them in a situation you can afford to can help Entei withstand opposing attacks.
  • Setting up entry hazards of your own will wear down problematic Water-typed Pokemon and faster threats that can't be taken out by one Extreme Speed normally.

Team Options
=========

  • Altarianite Entei likes having a Red Orb user to make Entei's weakness to Blue Orb Steel-types and bulky Water-types such as Skarmory, Golisopod, and Arceus-Water much less of an issue, and can pave the way for Extreme Speed to pick off a team with far more ease.
  • Kartana forms a very strong offensive core with Entei, with each being able to cleave through each others checks, with Entei handling most Buzzwole variants, and Kartana threatening Water-types and Ground-types very well.
  • Bulky Defog and Rapid Spin users help clear opposing Stealth Rocks off the field, allowing Entei to switch in far easier than it would otherwise. Especially good choices for Entei are Defoggers that resist Water and Ground, such as Arceus-Water, Mandibuzz, and Giratina.
  • Checks to Primal Groudon such as Giratina-Origin and Arceus-Ground allow Entei to be less careful in using attacks to check problem sweepers, and allow it more more reliably whittle down Primal Groudon.
  • A Steel-type that can take Tapu Lele's blows such as Magearna also helps Entei not get pressured nearly as much as it would otherwise be, and allow it to survive long enough to be able to Extreme Speed Mega Evolved Tapu Lele.

Moves
========

  • Extreme Speed is once again Entei's main STAB option, and like with the Altarianite set, serves as powerful priority. With Pinsirite, Extreme Speed is Flying-type priority, which hits Primal Groudon with neutral damage, and allows it to revenge Victini, Golisopod, and Grass-types even easier.
  • Sacred Fire is Entei's other main STAB move, and it reamins as a power Fire move that also burns anything bulky enough to survive rather often. Fire/Flying is not quite as potent as Fire/Fairy in terms of STAB coverage, but the combination is still fearsome in its own right.
  • Frustration is another Flying-type STAB option that allows Entei to preserve its Extreme Speed usage when it needs to hit a bulkier target such as Arceus formes even more than it would otherwise be able to.
  • Stone Edge is a solid coverage option that deals with opposing Fire-types and Flying-types, especially Ho-oh and Zapdos.
  • With Entei's higher speed granted by Pinsirite, Howl becomes more than a footnote, and allows Entei to boost past walls that would otherwise force Entei out, such as Toxapex.
Set Details
========

  • With the additional speed provided by Pinsirite and the alternate coverage provided by Flying-type attacks, Entei is more inclined to take a sweeping role, allowing it to be base 120 speed, allowing it to outspeed most support Arceus, Raikou, Lunala, and the fastest Primal Groudons where Altarianite sets could not.
  • Pinsirite adds the Flying-type to Entei, which allows it become immune to Ground-type moves at a moment's notice, floating over the like of Earthquake and Ground-type Judgement, along with resisting Fighting type moves. However, the Flying-type makes Entei very weak to Stealth Rocks and other Rock-type coverage.
  • Aerilate, like Pixilate, allows Entei to use STAB Extreme Speed and Frustration, turning them into Flying-typed moves.
  • Like with Altarianite Entei, a bulky attacker set is possible in order to take more hits before being KOed.
Usage Tips
=======
  • Pinsirite Entei takes a maximum of 50% from Stealth Rocks, so keep Stealth Rocks off of your side of the field, especially when Entei has already Mega Evolved.
  • Pinsirite Entei appreciates having entry hazards to make sweeping easier and reducing the amount of times the opponent can switch in on Entei, so good Stealth Rock setters make good partners.
  • With Pinsirite Entei, there is more of a reason to not Mega Evolve, so evolving when you need to deal more damage, have successfuly kept rocks off the field, know that the opponent is using a Ground-type attack, or to dodge Webs/Toxic Spikes are great reasons to Mega Evolve.
  • You should use Howl when you either have no other option to break what's in front of you, or you think Entei can sweep from its current position.

Team Options
========
  • A Defogger such as an Arceus-Fairy, Arceus-Ground, or Giratina-Origin can help remove Stealth Rocks for Entei to freely come in to Extreme Speed a dangerous threat. This is especially important with Pinsirite Entei's x4 weakness to Stealth Rocks.
  • Red Orb users such as Primal Groudon and Raikou make Entei's weakness to Blue Orb Steel-types and bulky Water-types much less of an issue, and can pave the way for Extreme Speed to pick off a team without Steel and Water-types.
  • Ground types such as Hippowdon and Zygarde can shore up Pinsirite Entei's huge Rock-type weakness, allowing Entei the luxury of not having to take a Stone Edge.
  • With the addition of the Flying-type, Electric types such as Zeraora and Zapdos also become issues, so Ground types can keep Entei safe against them.

Other Options
=========
  • Flare Blitz is a more powerful and slightly more accurate version of Sacred Fire, but cuts into Entei's survivability and does not have nearly as high a burn chance as Sacred Fire.
  • Will-o-Wisp is another option for spreading status when Entei must, but Sacred Fire already has a 50 percent burn chance, which is reliable enough for most matches.
  • Stomping Tantrum is another option for Entei to deal with certain Fire-types. However, its base power is a good deal lower than its other coverage options.
  • Toxic can also be run on the Pinsirite set to deal with Arceus and Primal Groudon even better, but this option is not as needed when Flying hits Primal Groudon, among other relevant targets, for neutral damage.
  • Roar can force an additional switch for Entei, which can be helpful if entry hazards are already up against the opposing team, in addition to gaining momentum for the team.

Checks and Counters
=================

  • Primal Groudon: Primal Groudon is a major candidate for being the best counter to Entei. Even the Pinsirite variants fail to 2HKO it, and Primal Groudon can OHKO back with either Precipice Blades or Stone Edge, depending on the variant. Primal Groudon can also set up Stealth Rocks on a predicted switch, as well.
  • Bulky Water-types: Many Bulky Water-types are able to answer Entei's attacks, and respond with a Water-type attack that will deal significant damage to Entei. Arceus-Water is among the best, being able to stand strong against anything Entei can do, and easily win a 1v1 with Entei, even after switching in. Toxapex is even better, being able to wear down Entei with Toxic, and heal off anything Entei can do while Hazing any Howl boosts away. Latiasite Toxapex even dodges Stomping Tantrum.
  • Arceus-Rock: Arceus-Rock can answer Entei in a similar fashion to Arceus-Water, though physical sets need to be wary about Sacred Fire burns.
  • Blue Orb Steels: Blue Orb Steel types can very often switch in and take on Entei, some of which can do so regardless of coverage. Skarmory and Magearna are the standouts in that regard, as the former can safely set hazards or set up, forcing any Entei variant out by Roosting away any damage it does recieve, and the latter can tank anything Entei can do, and KO it with several Thunderbolts.
  • Physically Defensive Pokemon: Phsycially defensive tanks can often shrug off Entei's blows until it boosts. The main checks among these are Gliscor and Hippowdon. Both of these, particularly if they holding Venasaurite, can withstand Entei's attacks easily, and can either poison it or just Earthquake it, depending on the variant, and heal off any damage Entei does in the process. Burns from Sacred Fire do bother both Hippowdon and Gliscor, however.
  • Tapu Lele: While not directly a counter to Entei, Psychic Terrain makes both Pinsirite and Altarianite Entei's job of cleaning up weakened sweepers far harder, allowing opponents to have a 50/50 of switching in Tapu Lele against an Extreme Speed or staying in with their sweeper, making threats like Terrakion and Darkrai far more threatening. Tapu Lele itself can revenge kill Entei with the Psychic Terrain if it's weakened enough, and can outpace Entei with even Lucarionite.

I suppose I actually should post that my analysis is ready for QC, as well... So here it is. I'm doing that.
Also, I'll be editing things as they come up for any general suggestions that improve on the analysis. I've done a few already.

Overview

  • Entei is a sight to behold on the battlefield, and one that is rightfully feared. This legendary Fire-type has two rare moves in Extreme Speed and Sacred Fire, allowing it to both take revenge on anything frail enough to stand in Entei's way and burning nearly anything else with impunity.Cut the fluff. This isn't a biography; its looks are irrelevant, how feared it is the same, and this shouldn't be the first bullet
  • Entei's base 115 attack in its standard form is bolstered to 145 attack from Pinsirite and 155 from Altarianite, giving Entei a major offensive presence with its new typings of Fire/Flying and Fire/Fairy.
  • Entei's bulk is also impressive, with 115/105/75 and 115/105/95 bulk from Altarianite and Pinsirite respectively, allowing Entei to stay standing for a considerable amount of time, despite not being backed up by any reliable recovery.
  • Entei's coverage moves, while limited, give it the edge needed to deal with a good portion of what would be surefire answers to its STAB combinations.
  • Entei also has a boosting move in Howl, allowing it to at least have some option to set up against passive walls and switches.
  • Entei has some issues dealing with Blue Orb Steel-types, but remains one of the most popular Pokemon in Mix and Mega despite this shortcoming.
Overall, this spends too much time on stuiff better left to set details, and spreads moves stuff across multipel bullets. Where's the mention fo it acting as an offensive tank vs the likes of magearna? Where is the revenge killing? Where is the advantages of its typing?

Set Details

  • All three Legendary Beasts were gifted with a shiny form, all carrying the move Extreme Speed, with Entei being far and away the best user of the move. Irrelevant
  • Extreme Speed is the main draw of the set; giving Entei Fairy-type priority, and allowing it to land a solid hit on faster Pokemon that would otherwise just outspeed and try to KO Entei, with Dragon-types and Loppunite stone holders being hurt the most from this added priority. Lopunnite pokemon are irrelevant, this should mention terrakion or keldeo or the like. Also, give examples of dragon types.
Not really? It doesn't break arceus at all, give better examples here. Entei Generally can't beat arc without howl or toxic, although this isn;t universal.
  • Stone Edge is coverage for Fire-types, along with Golisopod, and helps Entei combat some Red Orb users.
  • Stomping Tantrum is a coverage move that deals with a majority of Blue Orb Steel-types, and allows Entei to hurt Primal Groudon a decent amount. Swap these orders. Stomping Tantrum is for Primal Groudon first and foremost; hitting aniche magearna set and other entei si a nice bonus but not what makes it worth running.
  • Howl is Entei's best set up move, sad as it may be. Despite only raising the attack stat by one stage, this boost is enough for Entei to power through significantly more bulky Pokemon with its improved power. Ditch the editorials.
  • Toxic is there to give specifically Primal Groudon issues with switching into Entei. No, that's not what it's for.
  • This set can also be run with 252 Speed instead of HP, allowing Entei to outspeed slower Arceus and almost all Primal Groudon variants, allowing it to hit something with Sacred Fire or Frustration without the risk of being outsped. This also isn't really the main reason Entei runs speed, either.
Fix the formatting here; see the analysis template, as this is just painful to read. Also be sure to look at the changes here.

Also where is the set details???

This section has a lot of fluff. This isn't always bad, but in this case there's almost as much fluff as actual information, to the point that some stuff that needs to be here isn't. You touch on extreme speed, but don't mention Entei's role as a revenge killer; you fail to talk about how easily worn down it is, especially with rocks, etc.

Formatting. I bolded the correct moveset formatting, but the rest is hardly any better. Moves goes above set details, but both have their own header and section
You also lack critical details, you still have the editorials, still mention irrelevant targets like lopunnite, and still have wrong info like toxic only being there to deal with pdon even at a surface level glance; there's probably more I missed in any case.

Once more, it's obvious from just this section that this analysis is both missing key details *and* hasn't implemented everything from last time. Go, read some of the other almost finished analyses, and then go change your analysis to match. I advise rereading both this check and the previous one, but both only target the first part of the analysis and are thus not completely sufficient.

QC Reject Upheld. Zephyr Dragon Lord once you've updated feel free to come back again, but this needs significant work.

Feel free to discuss cutting Pinsirite with QC, it's certainly less important and might make this easier.

I won't need to cut Pinsirite from the analysis; it's a vital set, and should definitely be included in this analysis. The set is well worth the extra time investment needed. This is clear enough for me to make enough improvements for a real QC check from you; this will take some time, but I'll edit this post along with the main one when everything's ready again.

Okay, this one's ready again. I added a point to make this one more robust, and I don't see too many issues (though it probably has some anyways). It's finally ready for the QC check again.

  • Like with Altarianite Entei, a bulky attacker set is possible in order to take more hits before being KOed.
This entire section is kinda inadequate. Also stop comparing the set to the previous one, a bit of that is somewhat OK but you dhouldnt have every set but the first be referential.
  • Extreme Speed Bullet
  • Sacred Fire Bullet
  • Frustration Bullet
  • Howl Bullet
  • Stone Edge Bullet
  • Stomping tantrum bullet, but mention how it's just not as good usually

You're missing an entire section here, really not ready.

  • Aerilate

Usage Tips
Usage Tips
========

  • Stealth Rocks are an even greater deal with Pinsirite variants, so keep Stealth Rocks off of your side of the field, especially when Entei has already Mega Evolved.
  • Like with Altarianite Entei, Pinsirite Entei appreciates having entry hazards to make its job easier. elaborate
  • Pinsirite Entei should also be careful about switching into attacks recklessly, especially if the opponent can set up Stealth Rocks, as Pinsirite Entei is still a powerful cleaner.
  • With Flying-type Extreme Speed, Entei has less to fear from Golisopod and opposing Fire-types in general, so opposing Primal Groudons need to be worn down less for Entei to be effective against them.
  • While having less to fear from Blue Orb users than Altarianite variants, Pinsirite variants can still be stopped cold by some Blue Orb Steel-types if it lacks the necessary coverage.
  • Bullet on revenge killing
  • what point in the match do you howl
  • when to mega evolve (need power, groudn-type pokemon, no rocks, etc)

Team Options
Team Options
========

  • A Defogger or Rapid Spin user such as an Arceus-Fairy, Arceus-Ground, or Giratina-Origin can help remove Stealth Rocks for Entei to freely come in to Extreme Speed a dangerous threat. This is especially important with Pinsirite Entei's x4 weakness to Stealth Rocks.
  • Red Orb users such as (examples) make Entei's weakness to Blue Orb Steel-types and bulky Water-types much less of an issue, and can pave the way for Extreme Speed to pick off a team without Steel and Water-types.
  • Ground types such as Hippowdon and Zygarde can shore up Pinsirite Entei's huge Rock-type weakness, allowing Entei the luxury of not having to take a Stone Edge.
  • Pokemon that can take on electric types

Other Options
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Substitute protects Entei from both Poison and Paralysis, and eases Entei making a prediction about opposing switches.
  • Bulldoze is an option that was ran as coverage before Stomping Tantrum existed for both sets, and can still be used as a form of minor speed control. However, its power leaves much to be desired for as an overall coverage option.
  • Toxic can also be run on the Pinsirite set to deal with Arceus and Primal Groudon even better, but this option is not as needed when Flying hits Primal Groudon, among other relevant targets, for neutral damage.
  • Roar can force an additional switch for Entei, which can be helpful if entry hazards are already up against the opposing team. and to gain some momentum

Checks and Counters
Checks and Counters
===================

**Primal Groudon**:
Primal Groudon is a major candidate for being the best counter to Entei. Even the Pinsirite variants fail to 2HKO it, and Primal Groudon can OHKO back with either Precipice Blades or Stone Edge, depending on the variant. Primal Groudon can also set up Stealth Rocks on a predicted switch, as well.

Bulky Ground-types: Hippowdon, particularly if holding Venasaurite, can withstand Entei's attacks easily, and can either poison it or just Earthquake it, depending on the variant, and heal off any damage Entei does in the process. Burns from Sacred Fire do bother Hippowdon a bit, however.
Toxapex: Toxapex can wear down Entei with Toxic, and heal off anything Entei can do while Hazing any Howl boosts away. Latiasite Toxapex even dodges Stomping Tantrum.

**Bulky Water-type Pokemon**: Many Bulky Water-types are able to answer Entei's attacks, and respond with a Water-type attack that will deal significant damage to Entei. Arceus-Water is the best of the lot, being able to stand strong against anything Entei can do, and easily win a 1v1 with Entei, even after switching in. Mention toxapex here as the primary example

Blue Orb Steels
: Blue Orb Steel types can very often switch in and take on Entei, some of which can do so regardless of coverage. Skarmory and Celesteela Magearna are the standouts in that regard, as the former can safely set hazards or set up, forcing any Entei variant out by Roosting away any damage it does recieve, and the latter can either Leech Seed Entei or simply Earthquake it, depending on the stone.
Checks: Checking Entei is far easier than countering it, as potential checks need to only take 1 Extreme Speed rather than 2. For example, Kyogre in either form can take an Extreme Speed and KO back with Origin Pulse, Scald, or Water Spout.

**Arceus-Rock**:

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**:

**Tapu Lele**:
While not directly a counter to Entei, Psychic Terrain makes both Pinsirite and Altarianite Entei's job of cleaning up weakened sweepers far harder, allowing opponents to have a 50/50 of switching in Tapu Lele against an Extreme Speed or staying in with their sweeper, making threats like Terrakion and Darkrai far more threatening. Tapu Lele itself can revenge kill Entei with the Psychic Terrain if it's weakened enough, and can outpace Entei with even Lucarionite.

There's a lot wrong here. Like, a lot, and this is after a lot fo work on the part of QC has gone into this. Qc rejected 2/3
On the plus side, after you implement this, this analysis should be ready.
Be sure to implement Everything. I suggest you quote the post, copy the stuff in the hide tag over, and put that as your new starting point, to make sure you don't forget this stuff for the third time

While QT knows, I'm also letting everyone else know that I'm going to be speeding up the process of this analysis greatly, now that I'm completely prepared to address whatever information needs to be there, and have enough practice to notice what else might come up. This will be edited when the main post is finished.

EDIT: There we go. Something that actually resembles an actual analysis. I have no idea what I was doing with this before now. It's ready for the process for sure now. (Very ready, and still waiting for the first taker here; I'll edit anything in the title if need be)
