Espeon Team v3

Well here I leave this team quite fun that I built a day that I wanted to use an offensive variant of Espeon, it is not the best team but it is fun and I got good results in ladder.

Espeon (F) @ Psychium Z
Ability: Magic Bounce
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 4 Def / 212 SpA / 60 SpD / 228 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psychic / Future Sight
- Dazzling Gleam
- Morning Sun

The role of Espeon can very according to the enemy match up, for example it can act as a response to Hippowdon, preventing him from placing Stealth Rock in your field thanks to his Magic Bounce ability and then giving OHKO of +1 Shattered Psyche, also is a good response against Chansey and Toxapex that in 1v1 can not do much with their offensive attacks because state attacks will not work against Espeon for their ability and we can beat them thanks to the combination of Calm Mind and Morning Sun, their EVs help to exceed at most Adamant Mega Salamance and here I leave some interesting defensive and ofensive calculations.

Greninja (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Protean
Level: 50
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Water Shuriken
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Gunk Shot

Greninja is an excellent partner of Espeon, can get to work well as "Lead" or "Revenge Killer" depends how this compound the enemy team, being able to take care of several of the threats that bother the Sweep of any member of the team. The set is typical, Water Shuriken by priority, Dark Pulse by Mega Metagross, Cresselia, Aegislash, etc. Ice Beam for Landorus, Gliscor, Mega Salamence and Garchomp, etc. Finally Gunk Shot for the Tapu and other Fairies of the Metagame, Focus Sash to be able to hold a blow if you have your PS to the maximum.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
163206

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Bullet Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock

He is mainly responsible for giving "Support" on the team, as well as being a response for Rain and Mimikyu teams. His set is the following Leech Seed plus Leftover are his way to recover PS in Pokemon that can not do much against him, like Porygon 2 or Cresselia, Bullet Seed is preferable before Protect to be able to take care of Mega Swampert with Substitute, and break the disguise Mimikyu and do some damage to it. Stealth Rock to break Focus Sash of the rival.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
163592

Tapu Koko @ Life Orb / Choise Specs / Electrium Z
Ability: Electric Surge
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 30 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- U-turn / Volt Switch / Calm Mind (just with a Life Orb)

This Pokemon was recommended to me by the user Solereme, it is a great addition to replace Hydreigon, being able to end up with several annoyances of the team like Tapu Fini or Mega Gyarados and other things in which Hydreigon you had very complicated.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
163208

Salamence-Mega (M) @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Return
- Earthquake

Well we all know Mega Mence and we know how it works, take advantage when a threat is no longer on the battlefield to be able to shoot Dragon Dance or Substitute and try to break the rival team without too many complications.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
163209

Blaziken-Mega (M) @ Blazikenite
Ability: Speed Boost
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- High Jump Kick
- Protect
- Swords Dance

Finally Blaziken, is the Wallbraker of the team can eliminate threats that Mega Mence can not as easily as Porygon 2, Tyranitar or Skarmory to give examples, can fulfill its role in either normal or mega phase, but it is preferable to try Leave the mega only for very specific cases.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well to conclude I would like to know what they think of the team and if they would modify something of it.
Greetings and enjoy the team.

Hi there, and welcome :)

I do am happy that someone is building an Espeon team in bss, since it's my fav pokemon, so let's get it started:

I'll start from Espeon itself,
sadly some of the calcs are wrong, for example there is no way that an Espeon without any defensive investments would survive to MMence's STAB (as much as i would like it to survive them lol)

I do like the fact that you're using enough speed to hit 174, that means that you'd be able to outspeed Adamant Mega Mence. If and when you do so, you try to adjust your defensive or at least your offensive EVs to achieve something.

  • Do i survive an attack from a Jolly MMence, that outspeeds my Espeon? Can i use a single Calm mind before attacking vs an Adamant MMence?
    Adamant Physically offensive MMence: 252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 4 HP / 4 Def Espeon: 216-255 (153.1 - 180.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
    Fast Jolly Attacker: 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 4 HP / 4 Def Espeon: 198-234 (140.4 - 165.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
    Mixed MMence: 4 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Double-Edge vs. 4 HP / 4 Def Espeon: 166-196 (117.7 - 139%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Adamant Physically offensive MMence: 252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Return vs. 4 HP / 4 Def Espeon: 184-217 (130.4 - 153.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Fast Jolly Attacker: 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Return vs. 4 HP / 4 Def Espeon: 168-198 (119.1 - 140.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
    Mixed MMence: 4 Atk Aerilate Mega Salamence Return vs. 4 HP / 4 Def Espeon: 142-168 (100.7 - 119.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Just to show how much mmence hits hard, and Espeon's frailness, Espeon it is even OHKO'd by 4 Atk EVs Return.

  • Am i able to 2HKO MMence at +0?
    212 SpA Espeon Psychic vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 82-97 (47.9 - 56.7%) -- 85.5% chance to 2HKO
    212 SpA Espeon Psychic vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 82-97 (47.9 - 56.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

  • How much damage do i do with the Z?
    212 SpA Espeon Shattered Psyche (175 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 159-187 (92.9 - 109.3%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO
212 SpA Espeon Shattered Psyche (175 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 159-187 (92.9 - 109.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

  • Do i OHKO with a +1 Z Move?
    +1 212 SpA Espeon Shattered Psyche (175 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 237-280 (138.5 - 163.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Now you know that:
- you OHKO a non-bulky MMence with your Z at +0 if SR are down.
- there is no way that you would setup or 2hko in a 1vs1 situation vs MMence if you're at +0, and this would lead to sad scenarios where you either lose espeon or sit in front MMence's DD, while not being able to do much.

At this point you have two roads:
Road A, you use a bulkier spread in order to live to a Return or a Double-Edge from a Jolly MMence.
Road B, you keep in mind those benchmarks and adjust your gameplan accordingly, like using your Z if SR are down.

few minor things about you Espeon spread:
- Dazzling Gleam is weak and should be used just vs Dark-types. (+1 212 SpA Espeon Dazzling Gleam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 146-172 (85.3 - 100.5%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO)
- keep in mind that VS Hippowdon Morning Sun would heal less
- Kartana outspeeds you and most likely beats you
- Hex Mega Gengar doesn't ohko your Espeon at +0, so if you see one in a stall team, for instance, you could maybe risk a 1vs1 situation

With the Z move, Future Sight could be an option since it does hit harder than Psychic, for instance it OHKO MMence without any need of SRs
212 SpA Espeon Shattered Psyche (190 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 172-204 (100.5 - 119.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Now, we've done this with MMence just because you have that specific speed benchmark, but you can and you have to do this kind of building process with every scenario that could be a win or losing con.

This being said, let's talk about the team.
As it is now, your team looks very weak to Tapu Fini. Specially if it carries HP Fire. (Ferro could go down anyway, and youd be in a very troublesome situation). It is true that Espeon can most likely beat it, but your espeon is frail and you wouldn't be able to switch it in and out to deal with this threat.

Greninja and Hydreigon look somewhat redundant, so i'd switch one out. Tapu Koko is an option here. It not only gives you an offensive way to deal with bulky waters for your Fire Mega, but it would guard your Mega Dragon from Dragon-type attacks.

Gren + Tapu Koko is a duo that have huge offensive presence. I honestly think you should give it a try.

@ Choice Specs / Life Orb
Ability: Electric Surge
Level: 50
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- U-turn / Volt Switch / Calm Mind [just with a Life Orb]
- Grass Knot

Keep in mind that with Koko in the team you'd be weak to ground spam when you choose Mega Blaziken as your mega. But your mons are fast, so until you keep in mind the offensive calcs and hit first, you should be ok....

...Or you could just go with MMence when you deal with many ground-types :D

Hope this helps, let us know how it goes with these changes!

hey man thanks for the tips and corrections of calculations, I was throwing a few fast games with Tapu Koko and it results in more situations better than Hydreigon
