Excadrill also has the potential to run a Swords Dance + Z-Move set, allowing it to break through walls such as Gliscor.

move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Iron Head
move 4: Rapid Spin

ability: Sand Rush
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Swords Dance lets Excadrill break through defensive Pokemon with boosted attacks. Earthquake is Excadrill's strongest STAB move. Iron Head is Excadrill's secondary STAB move that lets it hit Ground-immune Pokemon such as Tornadus-T and Gliscor. Rapid Spin allows Excadrill to support teammates such as Focus Sash Dugtrio.

Set Details
========

An investment of 252 EVs in Attack and Speed maximizes Excadrill's offensive potential. A Jolly nature lets Excadrill outpace threats such as Choice Scarf Greninja and +2 Modest Mew while sand is up and Pokemon like Nidoking and Mimikyu outside of sand. An Adamant nature can be used to provide more power, but Excadrill will be slower than the aforementioned threats. Sand Rush gives Excadrill a +2 boost to its Speed stat while sand is up. Steelium Z lets it break past defensive Pokemon such as Gliscor.

Usage Tips
========

Make use of Swords Dance and Excadrill's Z-Move to break through defensive cores such as Mandibuzz + Mega Sableye + Alolan Muk found on Dark teams. Try to time Hippowdon's Sand Stream with Excadrill so you have Swords Dance boosts while sand is still up, which means that you can't be forced out by offensive threats like Keldeo. Try to keep Excadrill healthy throughout the game so it can clean late-game more easily. Excadrill is one of Ground's best tools against Fairy teams, so use it to pressure threatening setup sweepers such as Tapu Bulu and remove wallbreakers like Mega Diancie. Use Rapid Spin to support teammates, particularly Focus Sash Dugtrio, which can trap and remove threats such as Greninja and Tapu Bulu. Use Swords Dance when forcing the opponent to switch into a defensive Pokemon like Gliscor. Avoid being burned by Pokemon like Will-O-Wisp Mew because burns will cut Excadrill's Attack stat in half, leaving it useless against common walls.

Team Options
========

Hippowdon is an important teammate because it allows Excadrill to make the most of Sand Rush with Sand Stream and provides Stealth Rock support for it as well. Dugtrio is important to remove various offensive threats like Alolan Raichu and defensive Pokemon such as Celesteela and Zapdos with Gravity up. Excadrill supports Dugtrio by removing hazards for it, and Dugtrio can revenge kill extremely quick threats with Sucker Punch. Seismitoad can take advantage of Water-types for Excadrill due to its ability Water Absorb. Other Pokemon with a Water immunity such as Gastrodon can fulfill the same role as well. Mega Garchomp is great for removing walls like Celesteela, clearing the path for Excadrill. Landorus works similarly to Mega Garchomp, removing walls that Excadrill struggles with. It can also provide Gravity for Excadrill so it can break through Celesteela. Mega Steelix can act as a secondary Fairy check, tanking hits from threats such as Tapu Bulu and removing them with Heavy Slam. Mamoswine is a great check to Flying- and Dragon-types and can pick off weakened Pokemon with Ice Shard, as well as supporting Excadrill with Knock Off, crippling checks such as Porygon2.

* iron head lets exca hit pokemon immune to eq such as tornadus-t
* rapid spin clears hazards, supporting teammates like focus sash dugtrio

Set Details

Usage Tips
========

* make use of sd + z-move to break through defensive cores

* use rapid spin to support teammates, notably focus sash dugtrio, so they can serve their purpose
*Mention that Exca should avoid every possible form of burn (Scald, Wisp, etc.) so it doesn't harm its damage output.

Team Options

* hippowdon for sand rush and sets rocks
* dugtrio traps threats
* seismitoad can take advantage of water-types like mantine for excadrill due to its water immunity. other water immune pokemon, notably gastrodon, can be used. however, gastrodon requires support to take care of threats like azumarill, something that seismitoad removes comfortably
* mega garchomp can remove defensive threats like celesteela, making it easier for excadrill to break through cores
* landorus works similarly to mega garchomp, setting up gravity so that excadrill can take out pokemon like celesteela or remove them itself. its immense power lets it remove other defensive threats like ferrothorn for excadrill as well
*Add Mega Steelix as another means of checking Fairy-types as well as other difficult foes such as Kyurem-B.
*Add Mamoswine as a way to check Dragon and Flying-types; also mention its Ice Shard priority that picks off faster, weakened foes when sand isn't up.

Other Options:
*Rock Slide over Rapid Spin as OO perhaps?

*Optional, but Adamant can go here as well.

Moves
========

* sd lets exca boost its attack stat
* eq is exca's main STAB move
* iron head lets exca hit pokemon immune to eq such as tornadus-t
- would use gliscor as an example, either here or what z can hit

* rapid spin clears hazards, supporting teammates like focus sash dugtrio

Set Details
========

* 252 atk + 252 spe max power and speed
* jolly outpaces scarf gren & +2 modest mew in sand and king mimi outside of it
- talk about adamant being oo, but say why jolly if prefered

* sand rush boosts speed in sand
* steelium helps it break past defensive cores
- give examples when you write this up

Usage Tips
========

* make use of sd + z-move to break through defensive cores
- give examples of what defensive cores it can break through

* add a bullet talking about how to use this in fairy mu

* try to time hippowdon's sandstorm with excadrill such that you have Swords Dance boosts while sand is still up, so you can't be forced out by offensive threats like keldeo

* try to keep excadrill healthy so it can clean late-game, since its bulk is limited
* talk about when to sd vs when to attack, spin, or switch out.

* use rapid spin to support teammates, notably focus sash dugtrio, so they can serve their purpose
* Avoid burn, as it cuts Excadrill's Attack in half, leaving it useless against walls.

Team Options
========

* hippowdon for sand rush and sets rocks
- also acts as a defensive sponge to switch into attacks like eq for it

* dugtrio traps threats
- expand on this, also talk about how dugtrio appreciates drills support in removing hazards and can pick off weakened threats w/ sucker punch

* seismitoad can take advantage of water-types like mantine for excadrill due to its water immunity. other water immune pokemon, notably gastrodon, can be used. however, gastrodon requires support to take care of threats like azumarill, something that seismitoad removes comfortably
- this is fine, but seismitoad doesnt really beat mantine, maybe use a different example

* mega garchomp can remove defensive threats like celesteela, making it easier for excadrill to break through cores
* landorus works similarly to mega garchomp, setting up gravity so that excadrill can take out pokemon like celesteela or remove them itself. its immense power lets it remove other defensive threats like ferrothorn for excadrill as well
* Mega Steelix can act as a secondary Fairy check and beat other threatening Pokemon like Kyurem-B.
- mega steelix actually cant 2hko kyub w/ heavy slam and is 2ohko'ed so its a shaky check
0 Atk Steelix-Mega Heavy Slam (60 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 158-188 (40.4 - 48%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Steelix-Mega: 198-234 (55.9 - 66.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

* Mamoswine is a great check to Flying- and Dragon-types and can pick off weakened Pokemon with Ice Shard.
- also can knock off items such as p2 and chansey's eviolite etc
