Introduction:

Welp we’re back at it again with another webs RMT to kick off the year lol, after the :Palafin: ban I wanted to see how far I could get on the ladder with just a normal webs team, no shitmons or gimmicks (specifically I wanted to try out Fairy spam in this meta since I thought it had potential) and thanks to some help and building advice from Storm Zone (shoutouts to him btw he’s the GOAT fr) I was finally able to not only cross 2000 ELO for the second time, but also do it with a relatively consistent GXE and hit #1 on the ladder. Without further ado, les hop into it.

The Team:

Beaches (Araquanid) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Water Bubble
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sticky Web
- Surf
- Endeavor
- Endure

My GOAT has finally risen up to OU after all this time, so u already know this team had the feature the superior Sticky Web setter (to the :Ribombee: copers readin this, seethe). Cause a lot of people have been experimenting with bulkier :Araquanid: sets on the ladder lately (including myself), I thought that using the classic Endure + Endeavor revenge combo set with Surf for consistent damage would be the best way to go, since the team doesn’t really struggle with any of the dragons in the tier for obvious reasons lol. Basic set overall, 40 Defense EVs and Max HP investment lets u live two Ceasless Edges from :Samurott-Hisui: and allows you to retaliate with Endeavor on the second turn. Max Special Attack investment has been chosen as well to hit :slowking-galar: for as much accurate damage as possible, since it’s pretty rough to deal with for about half my team without giving up Tera. Speaking of Tera, although Tera ghost is standard on all Sticky Web setters, because the team lacks any Ghost types, Teraing :Araquanid: transforms from a rarity to a necessity in certain games, so keep that in mind when piloting. Anyways ye really solid and well rounded Mon all around, let’s keep this guys OU career stable and keep :Ribombee: to flipping burgers and baggin fries down in RU fr.

10:36 (Iron Treads) @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Steel Beam
- Rapid Spin

I’ve used this exact set before on a similar RMT so imma try to keep the description blunt lol. :iron_treads: is only here over :great_tusk: for one reason: because this team is really bad into lead :raging_bolt: and cause we need a rocks setter and spinner that doesn’t let :great_tusk: and opposing :iron_treads: come in for free. Thankfully tho the trade off isn’t too terrible as :iron_treads: makes up for the loss in power by reliably setting up rocks and absolutely destroying the hopes and dreams of :Glimmora: and :great_tusk: users attempting to spin webs away. I’ve opted for a special set to anti lead :Glimmora: since it’s getting increasingly hard to tell whether they’re running Focus Sash, Red Card, or Power Herb now just based on team structure, and because the Earth Power + Steel Beam OHKOs offensive :great_tusk: variants. Timid with Max Speed investment has been chosen over Modest in order to outpace Taunt :Deoxys-Speed: leads, which have been running Red Card more and more as of late and really messes with leading :Araquanid: against such teams. Tera Ghost is especially important on this guy as well in order to block Rapid Spin from :Great_Tusk: if they happen to switch in on u settin up Stealth Rocks, which can happen more then u think lol. Overall a very underrated utility partner for :Araquanid: that helps the rest of our team sweep.

Everest (Kingambit) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head

Although most Sticky Web teams prefer :raging_bolt: as their strong priorty user of choice, I’ve opted for :Kingambit: here since this team can struggle against lead DD users attempting to exploit :Araquanid: for set up, in particular :Kyurem:, :Roaring_Moon:, and MAYBE :dragonite: but it really depends on the set, and also serves as our Ghost resist of choice. Tera Ghost also especially important on this Mon apart from spin blocking since it also lets the team deal with Heavy Duty Boots :zamazenta:, which is especially rough for this team since Heavy Slam variants have an extremely good matchup into this squad. Kowtow Kleave is here for big and consistent Dark damage, Sucker Punch is strong priorty, and Iron Head is used over Low Kick since this team has an INCREDIBLE matchup into opposing :Kingambit: to the point where the game will almost never come down to the dreaded :Kingambit: 1v1 endgame, which even then u have the advantage in due to Sticky Webs. Max Speed investment and an Adamant nature lets you hit as hard as possible while letting u speed tie with :Glimmora: after webs are set up, and most importantly outpace :Samurott-Hisui: after a speed drop. It’s :Kingambit: we all know what bro does

Yoshimi (Enamorus) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Contrary
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Earth Power
- Mystical Fire
- Healing Wish

With Tera Fairy, Choice Specs, and a Modest Nature along with a monstrous special attack stat, :Enamorus: is able to unleash the strongest Moonblast AND the Special Fairy move in the entire game (that’s legal in OU at least lol). Earth Power is here for important coverage against Steel and Poison types, in particular :iron_treads: and :slowking-galar:, which this team struggles with. Mystical Fire is there as an emergency coverage option for :tinkaton:, and Healing Wish allows you to bring back a statuses and weakened teammate from the brink of death and wreak havoc once more. In particular, Healing Wish allows for :Kingambit: to muscle past mons that would attempt to status is like :Moltres: and :dragapult:, and then come back completely healthy and ready to sweep. Tera Fairy also has the added bonus of flipping the matchup against :Cinderace: teams by granting :Enamorus: a speed boost after being effected by Court Changed Sticky Webs and blast the opponent into smithereens. Keep in mind however that this does come at the cost of not being able to have an emergency spinblock, which is something important to keep in mind vs :Iron_Treads: teams. Very potent Mon overall that I believe has a lot of potential on webs outside of the traditional Tera Stellar Choice Specs set.

Forest (Iron Valiant) @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Shadow Ball
- Vacuum Wave

Because the team struggled with Fairy resists in general like :slowking-galar: and :dragapult:, I needed another Fairy mon that could dismantle both of these opps for my team. Enter Special Attack booster :Iron_Valiant:. After a Calm Mind boost, nothing in the tier barring :Moltres: can switch in safely to this monster. Shadow Ball and Moonblast grant you perfect coverage, Tera ghosts lets you set up on stall teams and revenge kill :dragonite: as well as spinblock and boost the power of Shadow Ball, and because the last slot on this set is so flexible, I’ve opted for Vacuum Wave to just absolutely destroy :Kingambit: even after I’ve popped the Tera ghost. Vacuum Wave also helps revenge kill weakened :Kyurem: and :roaring_moon: that try to set up on lead :Araquanid:, which can be really helpful if ur scared that it’s running Tera Blast. Really underrated webs Mon I hope picks up traction.

Magdalene (Iron Moth) @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fiery Dance
- Sludge Wave
- Energy Ball
- Substitute

This is definitely a webs abuser I’ve slept on for a while now that I finally get to try out lol. Special Attack booster energy and Quark Drive allows for :Iron_Moth: to be a much more consistent sweeper that isn’t completely reliant on getting boosts from its incredible Fire STAB of choice in Fiery Dance. Sludge Wave is good consistent STAB move to have for big damage, and Energy Ball is used as the coverage move of choice to OHKO :Great_Tusk: and chip down :Ting_Lu: for the rest of the team to finish off. Substitute allows you to scout plays from the opponent, and most importantly, stomach :Kingambit: Sucker Punch and :raging_bolt: Thunderclap in a pinch. Tera Ghost allows you to be immune to :dragonite: Extreme Speed, which is extremely bad for :iron_moth: in particular due to its horrendous defense stat, and most importantly and obviously has the benefit of spinblocking. Tera Ghost also lets you 1v1 mono Seismic Toss :Blissey:, although that set is becoming more and more rare these days so it’s not a guaranteed win vs. Stall. Timid and Max Speed investment is necessary in order to speed tie with :ogerpon-wellspring:, something that this team struggles with greatly. :Iron_Moth: is also excellent into lead :Rillaboom: that may be attempting to OHKO :Araquanid: with a Wood Hammer, so do keep that in mind when facing such teams. Very good webs Mon I had a lot of fun testing with and plan to use on my future teams.

Conclusion:

low-key I’m running out of people to beg for shoutouts lmao, so uh another Agency shoutout or feature would be cool I guess idk lol. Again I’d like to thank Storm Zone for helping me revise this team and in general coming up with the idea of a webs team with no ghost type. Anyways that’s all I got, peace and always remember, :Ribombee: is trash and :Araquanid: is GOATED like that.

Oh and shoutouts to Webscord for being GOATED lol, link below for those who wanna join:

We have triple the usage of Araquanid in OU *1825 ELO stat with Ribombee in Ubers *1760 ELO stat so I'd say we're doin alright
i'd figure that's just a result of much higher power level offensively and defensively with (more or less) similar speed levels to OU so ribombee having 124 base speed and literally nothing else is good compared to araquanid's low speed but actual survivability makes ribombee actually good (considering araquanid magically can't live hits either)
