TJ

Banned deucer.
is the Smogon Tour Season 34 Championis a Past SPL Championis a Two-Time Past SCL Champion

Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 128 Def / 132 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Protect

Ferroseed appreciates former metagame threats like Altaria and Qwilfish rising to NU, as it can now set up entry hazards more consistently. Great bulk with a Grass / Steel typing and Iron Barbs provides Ferroseed with many useful resistances and allows it to easily check a plethora of physical attackers like Togedemaru, Regirock, Kangaskhan, and Archeops, and it finds many opportunities to set up Spikes because of this, which makes it a consistent Pokemon for many balance teams in the metagame. Likewise, Ferroseed is often used because of its immunity to Toxic Spikes and annoying utility moves in Leech Seed and Protect, which makes it harder to wear down, scouts for Choice-locked Pokemon, and makes up for its lack of recovery. Furthermore, Pokemon like Clefairy and Gastrodon are some of the best partners for Ferroseed, as they form effective defensive cores that check most of the metagame and handle each other's checks. Unfortunately, Ferroseed struggles with a weakness to common Fire-types like Pyroar, and a low Speed stat, which means it will be outsped by almost every Pokemon.

First sentence seems dodgy, so I'd probably rephrase it to express how recent tier shifts have made it more consistent; qwilfish and altaria rising. Also have a slight iron barbs mention when talking about physical attackers. However, I think the rest is actually very solid and you've done a good job here. We also talked a bit before on discord too.

the hitmonchan bit is also gonna be really confusing for anyone not fairly familiar with the pu meta, "run hitmonchan as a magmortar check" isn't exactly an accessible logical step to an outsider. everything else is fine although i dont see how starting seed off with "it got better in tier shifts" is much of a hook

Ferroseed appreciates the rise of metagame threats like Altaria and Qwilfish as former metagame threats like Altaria and Qwilfish rising to NU, as (the rise of metagame threats can also mean they rise in popularity in said meta) it can now set up entry hazards more consistently. Great bulk with a Grass / Steel typing and Iron Barbs provides Ferroseed with many useful resistances and allows Ferroseed it to easily check a plethora of physical attackers like Togedemaru, Regirock, Kangaskhan, and Archeops, and it finds many opportunities to set up Spikes because of this, which makes it a consistent Pokemon for many balance teams in the metagame. Likewise, Ferroseed is often used because of its immunity to Toxic Spikes and annoying utility moves in Leech Seed and Protect, which makes it harder to wear down, allows for it to scout against scouts for Choice-locked Pokemon, while simultaneously making and makes up for its lack of recovery. Furthermore, Pokemon like Clefairy and Gastrodon are some of the best partners for Ferroseed, as they form effective defensive cores that check most of the metagame and handle each other's checks. Unfortunately, Ferroseed struggles with a weakness to common Fire-types like Magmortar and Pyroar, and a low Speed stat, which means it will be outsped by almost every Pokemon. (unless it’s literally the slowest mon in the tier then it’s kinda exaggeration)
if magmortar gets banned before this gets published, make sure to cut that mention
