[OVERVIEW]

Ferroseed's typing, bulk, and ability to use Eviolite make it a solid entry hazard setter and a very reliable check to threats such as Kangaskhan, physical Skuntank, and Omastar. These attributes also give it a good matchup against common entry hazard removers like Alolan Sandslash and Cryogonal lacking Hidden Power Fire, as well as a clear niche over other entry hazard setters like Qwilfish, in addition to its ability to set both Spikes and Stealth Rock against other defensive Steel- and Grass-types like Metang and Tangela. Although Ferroseed has a low Attack stat, it can make up for it with Gyro Ball hitting frailer threats fairly hard due to its low Speed, which means that it can't be used as setup fodder by threats like Dodrio. However, while Ferroseed's typing is great, it leaves it open to threats like Gurdurr and Simisear, which can set up on it. It also finds itself unable to switch into threats like Eelektross, Victreebel, Silvally-Fairy, and Stoutland, which often run Fire and Fighting coverage to hit Steel-types, and it's also somewhat passive, which leaves it susceptible to Taunt users like Oricorio-E and Jellicent. Ferroseed faces competition from Tangela, which deals with threats like Stoutland and Kangaskhan better and has Regenerator, and other entry hazard setters like Qwilfish and Roselia, which are faster, have better utility, and, in the case of the latter, are less passive. Lastly, Ferroseed's lack of reliable recovery leaves it susceptible to repeated attacks and entry hazards, although this can be slightly alleviated by Leech Seed. It's also overly reliant on its Eviolite, which makes it extremely susceptible to Knock Off.

Moves
========

Leech Seed allows Ferroseed to weaken foes like Gurdurr and Simisear, which might attempt to take advantage of it, and provides decent healing due to Ferroseed's low HP stat. Gyro Ball takes advantage of Ferroseed's abysmal Speed to hit fast and frail threats like Dodrio, Lycanroc, and boosted Omastar decently hard. Protect allows Ferroseed to scout Choice-locked Pokemon like Primeape and Drampa, take Z-Moves from Pokemon like Alolan Persian and Alolan Raichu more comfortably, and get more Leech Seed recovery. Running both Spikes and Stealth Rock can be considered, although Ferroseed can't do its job as reliably without Protect, and this can also leave it overwhelmed, as it's forced to perform more tasks.

Set Details
========

The Special Defense and HP investment alongside Eviolite allows Ferroseed to avoid the 2HKO from Choice Scarf Aurorus's Blizzard after Stealth Rock and hail damage. The leftover EVs go into Defense to allow Ferroseed to take hits such as Kangaskhan's Double-Edge and Lycanroc's Fire Fang more comfortably. A Relaxed nature is preferred over Impish to slightly boost Gyro Ball's power.

Usage Tips
========

Ferroseed should aim to switch into threats like Kangaskhan and Aggron and proceed to set Spikes or Stealth Rock, as these threats find themselves forced out. It can also use Leech Seed to cripple the incoming Pokemon and recover some health. Against threats that commonly run Choice items, such as Drampa, Stoutland, and Primeape, Ferroseed should use Protect to scout what they're locking themselves into. This allows you to react accordingly and either switch out to a threat that deals with the Choice-locked foe, keep Ferroseed in to set Spikes or Stealth Rock up, or even use Leech Seed to recover health or Gyro Ball to weaken the foe. However, Pokemon such as Gurdurr and Oricorio-E can take advantage of that by setting up. Against frail and fast threats, such as Lycanroc, Dodrio, and Haunter, prioritize using Gyro Ball over setting entry hazards up or using Leech Seed, as they all take a good amount of damage. Ferroseed may need to be careful about preserving its health if it's needed to check a late-game sweeper such as Omastar or Alolan Sandslash. In these cases, prioritize chipping down foes and healing Ferroseed with Leech Seed over setting entry hazards.

Team Options
========

Ferroseed appreciates spinblockers, so Jellicent and Oricorio-G make for good partners. They also deal with Fighting-types such as Gurdurr and Primeape for Ferroseed and appreciate the entry hazards it sets. In exchange, Ferroseed deals with Kangaskhan and Lycanroc. Due to its weakness to Fire-types such as Simisear and Fire-type coverage from threats like Victreebel, Pokemon that resist Fire like Lanturn and Altaria make for decent teammates, although Defog Altaria can conflict with a Spikes-setting Ferroseed. They can also cure Ferroseed from status with Heal Bell. Fighting-type switch-ins such as Oricorio-E, Musharna, and Swanna are all heavily appreciated by Ferroseed, and Oricorio-E can even keep Ferroseed's entry hazards up with Taunt. In return, Ferroseed switches into troublesome Rock-types for Oricorio-E and Swanna. Ferroseed forms a solid entry hazard setting core with Regirock, which also switches into Oricorio-E and Oricorio-G for Ferroseed and lifts some pressure off Ferroseed to check Normal-types. In exchange, Ferroseed can check Ground-types like Golurk and Mudsdale and pivot into a predicted Toxic. Pokemon such as Stoutland, Eelektross, Articuno, and Dodrio appreciate the entry hazards Ferroseed sets, as they allow them to either wallbreak or sweep more easily. Finally, due to Ferroseed's lack of reliable recovery, it can easily find itself overwhelmed by opposing entry hazards. Due to this, entry hazard removers like Hitmonchan and Cryogonal make for good partners. Hitmonchan appreciates the entry hazards Ferroseed sets, potentially allowing it to clean late-game with Mach Punch, while Cryogonal switches into Victreebel and Aurorus and appreciates Ferroseed's ability to switch into Pokemon like Lycanroc.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Toxic is a strong option for Ferroseed, as it has no other way to threaten Torterra, Oricorio-E, and other Pokemon that take very little damage from its Gyro Ball. However, Ferroseed loses out on utility from not running Protect, such as the ability to scout foes like Primeape. Ferroseed can make use of Thunder Wave to lower the foe's Speed and cripple threats that try to take advantage of it. It can also make use of Knock Off to cripple Pokemon that can take advantage of it like Gurdurr and Drampa. However, this makes Ferroseed even more passive and makes it harder for it to deal with Lycanroc. Bullet Seed is an option to deal with Carracosta and Omastar more reliably, but it also makes Ferroseed extremely passive and leaves it unable to threaten Drampa.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Simisear, Combusken, and Turtonator all greatly threaten Ferroseed with their STAB and can even use it as setup fodder. However, they can get chipped down decently fast between entry hazards and Gyro Ball if they try to switch in directly.

**Fighting-types**: Gurdurr, Hitmonchan, and Throh can all get past Ferroseed without much difficulty, and Hitmonchan can even remove the entry hazards Ferroseed sets, while Gurdurr and Throh can use it as setup fodder. They all dislike Leech Seed and, in Hitmonchan's case, Gyro Ball, although Throh can avoid Leech Seed with Substitute.

**Super Effective Coverage**: Pokemon such as Victreebel, Stoutland, Drampa,and Eelektross can all get past Ferroseed easily, and Calm Mind Drampa can even use it as setup fodder. Outside of Eelektross and Drampa, though, none of them really appreciate switching into it, and Ferroseed can also scout for what move Drampa and Stoutland lock themselves into.

**Taunt Users**: Oricorio-E, Qwilfish, and Sableye can all cripple Ferroseed with Taunt, which makes it unreliable at doing its job. Moreover, Oricorio-E can use Ferroseed as setup fodder; Qwilfish can set up entry hazards on it; and Sableye can remove its Eviolite with Knock Off.

**Residual Damage and Knock Off**: Due to its lack of reliable recovery, Ferroseed can easily find itself overwhelmed by entry hazards and repeated attacks. In a similar manner, Knock Off from the likes of Absol, Kabutops, and Dodrio leaves Ferroseed unable to perform its job effectively.

  • Ferroseed's typing, bulk, and access to Eviolite make it a very reliable check to threats such as Kangaskhan, physical Skuntank, Lycanroc, and non-Focus Blast Alolan Raichu among others and solid entry hazards setter. Its typing also gives it a good matchup against common entry hazards remover, like Alolan Sandslash and Cryogonal, although Ferroseed can't switch on the latter.

Moves
========
  • Leech Seed allows Ferroseed to slowly regain health and weaken foes like Gurdurr and Simisear, which might attempt to take advantage of it.
  • Gyro Ball takes advantage of Ferroseed's abysmal Speed to hit fast and frail threats like Dodrio, Lycanroc, and boosted Omastar decently hard.

  • The leftover EVs go into Defense and allow Ferroseed to take hits such as Kangaskhan's Double Edge and Lycanroc's Brick Break not really relevant nor prevalent, i'd choose another example more comfortably.
  • A relaxed nature is preferred over an Impish one to slightly boost Gyro Ball's power.
Usage Tips
========
  • Ferroseed should aim to switch into threats like Kangaskhan and Aggron and then proceed to set Spikes or Stealth Rock, as they find themselves forced out. It can also use Leech Seed to cripple the incoming Pokemon and recover some health.
  • Against threats that commonly ruin Choice items, such as Drampa, Stoutland, and Primeape, Ferroseed should use Protect to scout into what they're locking themselves into. This allows you to react accordingly and either switch out into a threat that deals with the Choice-locked or stay in to set Spikes or Stealth Rock up, or even use Leech Seed to recover health or Gyro Ball to weaken the foe.
  • Protect can also be used alongside Leech Seed to allow Ferroseed to regain more health and weaken the foe faster. However, Pokemon such as Gurdurr and Oricorio-E can take advantage of that by setting up. not sure if i'd mention that as a bad thing since u can just proceed to switch into a check like vic/cryo respectively while still benefitting from leech seed
  • Against frail and fast threats, such as Lycanroc, Dodrio, and Haunter, prioritize using Gyro Ball over setting entry hazards up or using Leech Seed, as they all take a good amount of damage.
Team Options
========
  • Ferroseed appreciates spinblocker, so Jellicent and Oricorio-G make for good partners. • Fighting-types answers, such as Oricorio-E, Quagsire, and Swanna are all heavily appreciated by Ferroseed, and Oricorio-E can even keep Ferroseed's entry hazards up with Taunt. In return, Ferroseed switches into troublesome Rock-types for Oricorio-E and Swanna and into Grass-types for Quagsire not really since most grass types like vic and tang run hp fire. also vic is super relevant rn so u can mention it instead of quag and say how ferro handles stuff like kanga and dod for vic nicely.
  • If Ferroseed is running Spikes, having a Stealth Rock setter is mandatory. Regirock not only sets Stealth Rock, but also switches into Oricorio-E and Oricorio-G for Ferroseed and lifts some pressure off Ferroseed to check Normal-types. u can also mention golurk since it doubles as a spinblocker In exchange, Ferroseed can check Ground-types like Golurk and Mudsdale and can pivot into a predicted Toxic.
  • Pokemon such as Stoutland, Eelektross, and Dodrio appreciate the entry hazards Ferroseed set, as they allow them to either wallbreak or sweep easier.
  • Finally, due to Ferroseed's lack of reliable recovery, it can easily find itself overwhelmed by entry hazards. Due to this, entry hazards remover like Hitmonchan and Cryogonal make for good partners. Hitmonchan appreciates the entry hazards Ferroseed sets, potentially allowing it to clean late-game with Mach Punch while Cryogonal switches into Victreebel and Aurorus as you perviously said aurorus is not a huge issue for ferro, so mention pompom instead and appreciates Ferroseed's ability to switch into Pokemon like Lycanroc.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Ferroseed can make use of Thunder Wave to lower the foe's Speed and cripple threats that try to take advantage of it. However, without Protect, Ferroseed finds itself unable to scout against threats like Drampa.
  • Similarly, Toxic can be used to cripple threats that usually take advantage of it, like Oricorio-E, but this comes at the cost of being able to scout against foes like Primeape.
  • It can also make use of Knock Off to cripple Pokemon like Gurdurr and Drampa that try to take advantage of it. However, this makes Ferroseed more passive than it already is and makes it harder for it to deal with Lycanroc.
  • Bullet Seed is an option to deal with Carracosta and Omastar more reliably, but similarly to Knock Off, it makes it extremely passive and unable to threaten Drampa.
  • Lastly, a set with both Spikes and Stealth Rock can considered if needed, although Ferroseed can't do its job as reliably without Protect, and this can also leave it overwhelmed as it's forced to perform more tasks
Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Simisear, Combusken, and Turtonator all greatly threaten Ferroseed with their STAB and can even use it as setup fodder. However, the former two take a decent amount from Gyro Ball, ~25% is not a lot, but coupled with hazard chip it's fine ig which means they can't switch into it very reliably.

**Fighting-types**: Gurdurr, Hitmonchan, and Throh can all get past Ferroseed without much difficulty, and Hitmonchan can even remove the entry hazards Ferroseed sets. They all dislike Leech Seed and in Hitmonchan's case, Gyro Ball as well, though.

**Super effective coverage**: Pokemon such as Victreebel, Cryogonal cryo barely 2hkos with hp fire and is threatened with an ohko by gyro ball, Stoutland, Drampa and Eelektross can all get past Ferroseed with relative ease, although outside of Eelektross and Drampa none of them really appreciates switching in. Ferroseed can also scout for what Drampa and Stoutland lock themselves into.

**Taunt users**: Oricorio-E, Qwilfish, and Sableye can all Taunt Ferroseed, which makes it unreliable at doing its job. The former can even use it as setup fodder and the latter can knock its eviolite off, while Qwilfish can set entry hazards.

**Strong attackers**: Wallbreakers such as Aurorus and Alolan Persian can easily get rid of Ferroseed not very easily in the case of aurorus since specs doesn't ohko from full while similarly to cryogonal it risks getting ohkoed by gyro ball, although the former can't switch in in fear of Gyro Ball and the latter dislikes Leech Seed. i think u covered most relevant wallbreakers well in the previous bullets, idt u need this one

[OVERVIEW]
  • Ferroseed's typing, bulk, and access to Eviolite make it a very reliable check to threats such as Kangaskhan, physical Skuntank, Lycanroc, and non-Focus Blast Alolan Raichu among others and solid entry hazards setter (I'd use better examples here as most of those you listed generally run coverage to effectively deal with ferro, or at the very least you should mention that you're punishing sets lacking appropriate coverage for it. Add Aggron to this list too). Its typing also gives it a good matchup against common entry hazards remover, like Alolan Sandslash and Cryogonal, although Ferroseed can't switch on the latter lacking Hidden Power Fire (for clarity).
  • This allows it to separate itself from other entry hazards setter like Froslass and Qwilfish and other defensive Steel- and Grass-types like Metang and Tangela (what does? metang is still a rocker with good mus against alolaslash/cryo and tangela still checks lycanroc and most kangaskhan sets. if anything I think ferroseed's role compression/ability to cover team weaknesses as an entry hazard setter is what its defined niche is and should be emphasized more clearly throughout the first half of this overview.)
  • It can also cripple opposing Pokemon with Leech Seed, which grants it some passive recovery. It can also punish contact moves such as Stoutland's Return and Aggron's Head Smash with Iron Barbs (these are nice but aren't worth including here. if anything, ferroseed's reliance on leech seed for any recovery whatsoever should be worded more into a downside and iron barbs plays into what physical attackers it can check)
  • Although it has a low Attack, it can make up for it with Gyro Ball hitting frailer threats fairly hard due to its low Speed, which means that it can't be used as setup fodder by threats like Dodrio. (include lycanroc here)
  • However, while Ferroseed's typing is great, it leaves it open to threats like Gurdurr and Simisear, which can use it as setup fodder. It also finds itself unable to switch into threats like Victreebel, Silvally-Fairy, Cryogonal, and Stoutland due to its exploitabe typing (specify their use of coverage moves).
  • It's also somewhat passive and susceptible to Taunt, which means Pokemon like Oricorio-E, Jellicent, and Eelektross (Eelektross is using taunt? Rephrase this) can all take advantage of it.

Regirock not only sets Stealth Rock, but also switches into Oricorio-E and Oricorio-G for Ferroseed and lifts some pressure off Ferroseed to check Normal-types. **Fighting-types**: Gurdurr, Hitmonchan, and Throh can all get past Ferroseed without much difficulty, and Hitmonchan can even remove the entry hazards Ferroseed sets (gurdurr and throh use it as setup fodder and throh can completely abuse ferro with sub). • The role compression it provides allows it to separate itself from other entry hazards setter like Froslass and Qwilfish and other defensive Steel- and Grass-types like Metang and Tangela due to its typing, which grants it with less weaknesses. this point is a little confusing, like it doesnt exactly compress more than metang and I generally wouldnt describe ferro as a role compression mon
  • Although it has a low Attack, it can make up for it with Gyro Ball hitting frailer threats fairly hard due to its low Speed, which means that it can't be used as setup fodder by threats like Dodrio and Lycanroc. also a bit odd since i dont think anyone rly got the impression this would be setup fodder for fast things that dont resist steel? seems like it's answering a question nobody had
  • However, while Ferroseed's typing is great, it leaves it open to threats like Gurdurr and Simisear, which can use it as setup fodder. It also finds itself unable to switch into threats like Victreebel, Silvally-Fairy, Cryogonal, and Stoutland due to its exploitabe typing, which often run Fire and Fighting coverage. this is grammatically backwards
  • It's also somewhat passive which means Pokemon like Eelektross can all take advantage of it, while its susceptibility to Taunt leaves it open to Pokemon like Oricorio-E and Jellicent. eel seems like it belongs with the above point, passivity isnt exactly why eel annoys ferro

  • Leech Seed allows Ferroseed to slowly regain health and weaken foes like Gurdurr and Simisear, which might attempt to take advantage of it, and it's its only form of recovery.
  • Gyro Ball takes advantage of Ferroseed's abysmal Speed to hit fast and frail threats like Dodrio, Lycanroc, and boosted Omastar decently hard.
  • Lastly, Protect allows Ferroseed to scout against choice-locked Pokemon like Primeape and Drampa, take Z-Moves from Pokemon like Alolan Persian and Alolan Raichu more comfortably, and get more Leech Seed recovery.
i think mentioning u can run spikes+rocks and drop protect is worthwhile

Set Details
========
  • The Special Defense investment and HP investment allow Ferroseed to avoid the 2HKO from Choice Scarf Aurorus' Blizzard after Stealth Rock and Hail damage.
  • The leftover EVs go into Defense and allow Ferroseed to take hits such as Kangaskhan's Double Edge and Lycanroc's Brick Break more comfortably.
  • A relaxed nature is preferred over an Impish one to slightly boost Gyro Ball's power.
Usage Tips
========
  • Ferroseed should aim to switch into threats like Kangaskhan and Aggron and then proceed to set Spikes or Stealth Rock, as they find themselves forced out. It can also use Leech Seed to cripple the incoming Pokemon and recover some health.
  • Against threats that commonly run Choice items, such as Drampa, Stoutland, and Primeape, Ferroseed should use Protect to scout into what they're locking themselves into.
  • Against frail and fast threats, such as Lycanroc, Dodrio, and Haunter, prioritize using Gyro Ball over setting entry hazards up or using Leech Seed, as they all take a good amount of damage.
Team Options
========
  • Ferroseed appreciates spinblocker, so Jellicent and Oricorio-G make for good partners. These also deal with Fighting-types such as Gurdurr and Primeape for Ferroseed and appreciate the entry hazards it sets. In exchange, Ferroseed deals with Kangaskhan and, in the case of the latter, Lycanroc.
  • Due to its weakness to Fire-types such as Simisear and coverage from threats like Victreebel, Pokemon that resist such moves like Lanturn and Altaria make for decent teammates. They can also cure Ferroseed from status with Heal Bell.
  • Fighting-types answers, such as Oricorio-E, Quagsire, and Swanna are all heavily appreciated by Ferroseed, and Oricorio-E can even keep Ferroseed's entry hazards up with Taunt. In return, Ferroseed switches into troublesome Rock-types for Oricorio-E and Swanna and into Grass-types such as Ludicolo for Quagsire.
  • Ferroseed forms a solid entry hazards setting core with Regirock, as it also switches into Oricorio-E and Oricorio-G for Ferroseed and lifts some pressure off Ferroseed to check Normal-types. In exchange, Ferroseed can check Ground-types like Golurk and Mudsdale and can pivot into a predicted Toxic.
  • Pokemon such as Stoutland, Eelektross, Articuno, and Dodrio appreciate the entry hazards Ferroseed set, as they allow them to either wallbreak or sweep easier.
  • Finally, due to Ferroseed's lack of reliable recovery, it can easily find itself overwhelmed by entry hazards. Due to this, entry hazards remover like Hitmonchan and Cryogonal make for good partners. Hitmonchan appreciates the entry hazards Ferroseed sets, potentially allowing it to clean late-game with Mach Punch while Cryogonal switches into Victreebel and Aurorus and appreciates Ferroseed's ability to switch into Pokemon like Lycanroc.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Lastly, a set with both Spikes and Stealth Rock can considered if needed, although Ferroseed can't do its job as reliably without Protect, and this can also leave it overwhelmed as it's forced to perform more tasks. ye i think this better belongs in moves since it's only fiddling with one slash and is also just kinda more relevant
Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Simisear, Combusken, and Turtonator all greatly threaten Ferroseed with their STAB and can even use it as setup fodder. However, the former get chipped down decently fast between entry hazards and Gyro Ball.

**Fighting-types**: Gurdurr, Hitmonchan, and Throh can all get past Ferroseed without much difficulty, and Hitmonchan can even remove the entry hazards Ferroseed sets while Gurdurr and Throh use it as setup fodder. They all dislike Leech Seed and in Hitmonchan's case, Gyro Ball as well, though, although Throh can avoid Leech Seed with Substitute.

**Super effective coverage**: Pokemon such as Victreebel, Stoutland, Drampa and Eelektross can all get past Ferroseed with relative ease, and Calm Mind Drampa can even use it as setup fodder. Outside of Eelektross and Drampa, none of them really appreciates switching in and Ferroseed can also scout for what Drampa and Stoutland lock themselves into.

**Taunt users**: Oricorio-E, Qwilfish, and Sableye can all Taunt Ferroseed, which makes it unreliable at doing its job. The former can even use it as setup fodder and the latter can knock its eviolite off, while Qwilfish can set entry hazards.

**Strong attackers**: Wallbreakers such as Aurorus and Alolan Persian alolan persian doesnt belong anywhere near a "strong attackers" section and doesnt break ferro well at all can easily get rid of Ferroseed not exactly? it's more like aurorus will chip it as it comes in, it doesnt easily remove it immediately or anything, although the former can't switch in in fear of Gyro Ball and the latter dislikes Leech Seed.
honestly id probably remove this point altogether, residual damage and SE coverage basically cover anything that would be here

[OVERVIEW]

Ferroseed's typing, bulk, and access to Eviolite make it a very reliable check to threats such as Kangaskhan, physical Skuntank, and Aggron (yes to the first two but cb aggron kinda 3hkos basically all the time so it's like a meh overall check imho) among others and solid entry hazards setter. Its typing also gives it a good matchup against common entry hazards remover, like Alolan Sandslash and Cryogonal lacking Hidden Power Fire. Its defensive typing and bulk allow it to give it a clear niche over other entry hazards setters like Froslass and Qwilfish and its ability to set both Spikes and Stealth Rock over other defensive Steel- and Grass-types like Metang and Tangela, and its typing also grants it with less weaknesses. Although it has a low Attack, it can make up for it with Gyro Ball hitting frailer threats fairly hard due to its low Speed, which means that it can't be used as setup fodder by threats like Dodrio, Omastar, and Alolan Sandslash (meh. it's mainly leech seed plus either protect or gyro that stops these from fully sweeping because like you do what 30% to -1 oma and max 27% to slash). However, while Ferroseed's typing is great, it leaves it open to threats like Gurdurr and Simisear, which can use it as setup fodder. It also finds itself unable to switch into threats like Eelektross, Victreebel, Silvally-Fairy, Cryogonal, and Stoutland, which often run Fire and Fighting coverage as to hit Steel-types, and it's also somewhat passive which leaves it susceptible to Taunt users like Oricorio-E and Jellicent. Ferroseed faces competition from Tangela, which deals with threats like Stoutland and Kangaskhan better and has Regenerator and other entry hazards setters like Qwilfish and Froslass, which are faster, have better utility, and, in the case of the latter, less passive. Due to this, it can struggle to its job effectively. Lastly, Ferroseed's lack of reliable recovery leaves it susceptible to repeated attacks and entry hazards (leech seed super alleviates this). It's also over reliant on its Eviolite, which makes it extremely susceptible to Knock Off.

Leech Seed allows Ferroseed to slowly regain health and weaken foes like Gurdurr and Simisear, which might attempt to take advantage of it, and it's its only form of recovery (something something low base health means it heals a decent chunk from most mons). Gyro Ball takes advantage of Ferroseed's abysmal Speed to hit fast and frail threats like Dodrio, Lycanroc, and boosted Omastar decently hard (again, don't rlly do much to oma). Ferroseed's typing, bulk, and access ability to use Eviolite make it a solid entry hazard setter and a very reliable check to threats such as Kangaskhan, physical Skuntank, and Omastar among others and solid entry hazards setter. Its typing These attributes (Yes, its typing is the primary reason for the good matchups, but the bulk and Eviolite don't hurt, either. This was also necessary to cut down on wordiness.) also gives it a good matchup against common entry hazards remover, hazard removers like Alolan Sandslash and Cryogonal lacking Hidden Power Fire. Leech Seed allows Ferroseed to slowly regain health and (redundant) weaken foes like Gurdurr and Simisear, which might attempt to take advantage of it, and provides decent healing due to Ferroseed's low HP stat. Gyro Ball takes advantage of Ferroseed's abysmal Speed to hit fast and frail threats like Dodrio, Lycanroc, and boosted Omastar decently hard. Protect allows Ferroseed to scout (Scout for the Choice items, or scout their movesets? If you mean for the items, add "for" here. If you mean for the movesets, no need to add anything.) against choice-locked Choice-locked Pokemon like Primeape and Drampa, take Z-Moves from Pokemon like Alolan Persian and Alolan Raichu more comfortably, and get more Leech Seed recovery. Running both Spikes and Stealth Rock can be considered if needed, although Ferroseed can't do its job as reliably without Protect, and this can also leave it overwhelmed, (AC) as it's forced to perform more tasks.

Ferroseed should aim to switch into threats like Kangaskhan and Aggron and then proceed to set Spikes or Stealth Rock, as they these threats (it's not totally clear what "they" refers to) find themselves forced out. It can also use Leech Seed to cripple the incoming Pokemon and recover some health. Against threats that commonly run Choice items, such as Drampa, Stoutland, and Primeape, Ferroseed should use Protect to scout into what they're locking themselves into. Against frail and fast threats, such as Lycanroc, Dodrio, and Haunter, prioritize using Gyro Ball over setting entry hazards up or using Leech Seed, as they all take a good amount of damage. Ferroseed may need to be careful about preserving its health if it'(apostrophe)s needed to check a late-game sweeper such as Omastar or Alolan Sandslash. In these cases, prioritize chipping down foes and healing Ferroseed with Leech Seed over setting entry hazards.

Other Options

Toxic is a strong option for Ferroseed, (AC) as it has no other way to threaten Torterra, Oricorio-Pom-Pom Oricorio-E, and other Pokemon that take very little damage from its Gyro Ball, with the only issue being the utility lost Ball. However, Ferroseed loses out on utility from not running Protect, such as the ability to scout foes like Primeape. Ferroseed can make use of Thunder Wave to lower the foe's Speed and cripple threats that try to take advantage of it. Similarly, Toxic can be used to cripple threats that usually take advantage of it, like Oricorio-E, but this comes at the cost of being able to scout against foes like Primeape. (This makes sure that the mentions of Toxic are in one sentence, leading to a more logical flow.) It can also make use of Knock Off to cripple Pokemon like Gurdurr and Drampa that try to take advantage of it (repetition; add something more specific). However, this makes Ferroseed even more passive than it already is (wordiness) and makes it harder for it to deal with Lycanroc. Bullet Seed is an option to deal with Carracosta and Omastar more reliably, but similarly to Knock Off, it also makes it Ferrothorn (You just said that Knock Off helps against Drampa) extremely passive and leaves it unable to threaten Drampa.

Checks and Counters

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Simisear, Combusken, and Turtonator all greatly threaten Ferroseed with their STAB moves and can even use it as setup fodder. However, the former (two?) get chipped down decently fast between entry hazards and Gyro Ball.

**Super effective coverage Effective Coverage**: Pokemon such as Victreebel, Stoutland, Drampa, (AC) and Eelektross can all get past Ferroseed with relative ease easily, (I've heard that "With relative ease" is frowned upon as a phrase) and Calm Mind Drampa can even use it as setup fodder. Outside of Eelektross and Drampa, though, none of them really appreciates appreciate switching into it, and Ferroseed can also scout for what move Drampa and Stoutland lock themselves into.

**Taunt users Users**: Oricorio-E, Qwilfish, and Sableye can all Taunt cripple Ferroseed with Taunt, (using moves as verbs isn't banned, but it's discouraged) which makes it unreliable at doing its job. The former can even use it as setup fodder and the latter can knock its eviolite off, while Qwilfish can set entry hazards. (It's not in the right order; try this:) Moreover, Oricorio-E can use Ferroseed as setup fodder; Qwilfish can set up entry hazards on it; and Sableye can remove its Eviolite with Knock Off.

Finally, due to Ferroseed's lack of reliable recovery, it can easily find itself overwhelmed by opposing (optional, variety / additional structuring) entry hazards.

Other Options
=============

Toxic is a strong option for Ferroseed, (AC) as it has no other way to threaten Torterra, Oricorio-E, and other Pokemon that take very little damage from its Gyro Ball.

===================
