While Vileplume is almost always seen as inferior to Venusaur, expecially with the move Swords Dance, she has one useful tool in the move Flail, which allows her to deal a good amount of damage when factoring in the move Swords Dance. After a Swords Dance, Adamant Vileplume reaches 568 Attack, allowing her to do a large amount of damage with Flail, expecially if you can get multiple Swords Dances down, which can be accomplished considering her decent bulk.
[SET NAME]
Flail
Item: Salec Berry
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
252 Atk/4 Def/252 spe
[MOVESET]
~Seed Bomb
~Flail
~Swords Dance
~Endure/Substitute
While Vileplume might not have a very impressive Attack stat at all, it can take advantage of the helpful combination of the moves Flail and Swords Dance. After a Swords Dance, Vileplume reaches 568 Attack, which is a fairly decent number. If you're lucky enough to pull off two Swords Dances, Vileplume reaches a high 852 Attack, which shouldn't be hard to do considering Vileplume's acceptable 75/80/90 defenses. Once you're finished setting up, use Endure/Substitute to activate its Salec Berry. Even with the Salec boost, Jolly Vileplume only reaches a somewhat unimpressive 327 speed. For that reason, Vileplume greatly welcomes Sunny Day support to help boost her speed to high levels. Flail does a minimum of 84.3% to max HP/Def Venasaur, maxing out at 99.5% after a single Swords Dance. Against Blastoise, Flail does a minimum of 75.1% to max HP/Def Blastioise, maxing out at 88.7%. Chansey is always OHKO'd, and Cloyster takes 58.2%-68.8% from Flail. Seed Bomb does 71.1%-83.6% against Cloyster.
[TEAM OPTIONS]
Vileplume enjoys having a Sunny Day boost, allowing her abmyssal speed to improve, and with a Salec Berry boost added to the Chloryphil boost, she can outspeed any unboosted Pokemon. Entry hazards are great to eliminate the Pokemon who are almost OHKO'd by Flail.
[COUNTERS]
Cloyster takes heavy damage on a switch in, but can retaliate with Ice Shard, which proves fatal to Vileplume in most cases. Anything with priority that isn't KO'd by Flail can take Vileplume out as well, unless it's behind a substitute.
