[SET COMMENTS]

Milotic’s Water typing, ability Marvel Scale, and access to Mirror Coat make it a strong defensive wall in the 1v1 metagame. 248 HP and 40 Special Defense EVs allow Milotic to survive a Choice Specs boosted Thunderbolt from Modest Rotom-A. 220 Defense EVs give Milotic the best possible odds of surviving a Giga Impact from Choice Band Galarian Darmanitan. Recover is used to augment Milotic’s massive bulk and to mitigate the burn damage from Flame Orb. Scald gives Milotic offensive pressure and has a chance to burn the foe. Mirror Coat is used to beat special attackers such as Choice Specs and Choice Scarf Dragapult, Choice Specs Rotom-H, and Choice Specs Rotom-W. Haze allows Milotic to Fake Tears Sylveon and Swords Dance Golisopod. It also allows Milotic to PP stall opponents such as Ferrothorn.

Milotic struggles with strong wallbreakers such as Life Orb Excadrill, Zeraora, and Choice Band Mimikyu. Because of this, bulky attackers and certain stall Pokemon such as Choice Band Steelix, Choice Band Snorlax, and Corviknight make excellent partners for Milotic. In return, Milotic can beat many of their checks such as Sawk, Choice Specs Rotom-W, and Galarian Darmanitan. Milotic struggles with opposing stall Pokemon like Corviknight and Mandibuzz due to its weakness to Taunt, so partners such as Choice Specs Rotom-W, Choice Specs Rotom-H, and Choice Specs Galarian Weezing work well. In return, Milotic can defeat the strong attackers that threaten these Pokemon such as Crustle and Choice Band Snorlax.
