name: Choice Specs
move 1: Hydro Pump
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Hidden Power Electric
move 4: Baton Pass / Surf
ability: Water Veil
item: Choice Specs
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

Hydro Pump is Floatzel's strongest STAB move, dealing heavy damage to any foe that does not resist it. Ice Beam hits Grass-types that resist such as Roselia, super effectively, and provides good neutral coverage. Hidden Power Electric hits Water-types, specifically Pelipper, granting perfect neutral coverage. Baton Pass provides momentum on predicted switches and allows teammates to deal with specific threats. Surf is a more reliable STAB move due to its better accuracy. Switcheroo can be used to cripple Lickilicky while stopping bulky sweepers such as Clefairy, and Focus Blast 2HKOes Lickilicky and Regice while hitting other Normal- and Steel-types hard, but it has shaky accuracy.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment and a Timid nature allow Floatzel to Speed tie with Sneasel, and 252 Special Attack EVs let Floatzel hit as hard as possible. Choice Specs boosts Floatzel's power even more, making it difficult to switch into. Water Veil allows Floatzel to take Scalds and not get worn down by possible burns, but Swift Swim can be used on a rain team or to check opposing Rain Dance Poliwrath.

Usage Tips
========

Floatzel should be used as an early- or mid-game wallbreaker, but it can sweep late-game when Choice Scarf users are removed and foes are weakened, and Floatzel can be used as a revenge killer due to its high Speed. Try not to reveal Floatzel's item too early, as it can successfully bait Pokemon such as Tangela and Pelipper in if the opponent does not know Floatzel is a special attacker. Be careful when locking Floatzel into Hidden Power Electric, as it is weak and easy to take advantage of. Baton Pass should be used on predicted switches into counters, such as Lickilicky, to gain momentum.

Team Options
========

Floatzel works best on offensively based teams, as it can weaken checks and counters of other offensive Pokemon. Entry hazards from Pokemon such as Golem and Whirlipede weaken foes, and Stealth Rock allows Floatzel to OHKO Raichu. Physical attackers, such as Carracosta, Torterra, and Leafeon, enjoy the baiting of Tangela and other physical walls and can set up on Lickilicky, which Floatzel lures in and can use Baton Pass against. Alternatively, special attackers, such as Mr. Mime and Simipour, appreciate the crippling of Lickilicky and weakening of other special walls. On rain teams, Swift Swim Floatzel enjoys multiple rain-setting teammates, including Volbeat and Electrode, as well as teammates that can use the rain, such as Armaldo, Golduck, and Raichu.

Floatzel doesn't 2HKO the entire metagame, max HP Poliwrath takes like 40 from HP Electric (Set Details)

I've been using Baton Pass in the last slot and have found it to be really useful, as it lets you get momentum against stuff like Poliwrath and Lickilicky while also kind of bluffing the other set. Definitely Moves worthy, if not slash worthy.

Honestly I wouldn't use this set on rain as Golduck is just better, but you can still mention it if you want.

QC 1/3

By the way, how are you planning on updating the overview, other options, and C&C to account for this set's inclusion?

oo Baton pass sounds good, i put it at third for now although i can see it getting higher (judging how nice BP is on scarf mime)
Flotazel is nice on rain for its speed outside of rain, its not amazing but it has a niche.

Ill just get galbia to SCMS later. Ty for the check .3.

does move 4 need so many slashes? are surf and focus blast that necessary, if not I prefer them shifted to moves so the slashing becomes Switcheroo / BP (which you can use vs Regice and Lickilicky anyway)

I agree with moving surf and focus blast down to moves, you can just either BP out or switcheroo.

Update Usage Tips with info about BP and when to gain momentum and how you can cripple things for your team mates with switcheroo if facing stall or if you can't OHKO something.

Other than Raichu, does Floatzel get any notable KOs with rocks and spikes? Cause if not you should remove them as all Pokemon appreciate hazards.

--

Is modest worth it? or at least worth a mention in moves?

Honestly, bp and surf are the only moves worth using. Switcheroo is only there because of focus blasts bad accuracy, and that hits lickilicky, lol stall, and regice, who is switch in after you have locked yourself into a move, to set up. BP is nice for these two mons as you dont have to give up your specs, and surf helps with cleaning late game as too many times i have missed a hydro pump ;_;

Considering on every analysis there is someone saying add a 'specific KO' i might as well keep them, also there isnt much point mentioning every KO. One is also enough example, and it backs up by point about being on and offensive teams. Never ever modest, if you have used this you would know how it really needs the speed, especcially because it is its only niche.

Nothing to add, set is actually pretty straightforward. Don't say that teammates abuse the Rain, "abused" is not allowed for analyses. Other than that, this might as well go forward so

also sneasel is banned, might wanna slip him out of set details ye ?

first up:grass types that resist water->water resistances. this is for a number of reason, firstly 'grass types that resist water' sounds weirdly overspecific, and i get you want to tell people somehow that grass resists water but this way's just better, shorter, and kinda includes the info that it hits dragons too. I just really don't like how that sentence is written, it invites the 'as opposed to grasses that DON'T resist water' from some douchebag.

Sneasel is banned, merry christmas

at the end there: do you mean it enjoys having more than 1 rainsetting teammate, or just that it likes a lot of them as teammates, just not all at once? my change assumes the first but assuming makes dat ass tho
