For My Next Trick, You Ragequit!

So the other night I was thinking about trying something that I have never seen before. I am no pokemon veteran but I began thinking about how effective the move trick really is. You can take an item from someone and completely maim so many pokemon. Teams tend to only have one user of trick and even then it is a rare move. I thought it would be fun and possibly really effective to create a team that tricks multiple pokemon choice items to screw up cores. Having multiple pokemon with the move trick almost makes them uncounterable. Because if you trick something on the switch you most likely ruined what the pokemon was meant to do in the first place. Something I also tried to do with this team is counter hazards. I have 3 pokemon with levitate meaning they are only hit by SR. Also, only 2 members of my team mind being poisoned. So here is my attempt at something new that I would love to hear any and all suggestions about. I understand this team will have some flaws so help me make this team with 3-4 trick users into a deadly masterpiece!

[pimg]376[/pimg]
Metagross @ Choice Band
Ability: Clear Body
EVs:252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Nature: Adamant
- Meteor Mash
- Hammer Arm
- Bullet Punch
- Trick

The first pokemon that came to mind when I thought about this trick team was choice band metagross. He hits like a truck but is extremely tanky. He can trick his choice item to maim special sweepers, set up, sweepers, and walls while still being effective. Next I needed a pokemon that covered his ground and fire weaknesses.

[pimg]503[/pimg]
Rotom - W @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs:252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Nature: Timid
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- HP grass
- Trick

The next pokemon that naturally came to mind was the beast that is choice scarf rotom. I love his ability to scout and his lone weakness to grass which is covered by the steels this team possesses. Rotom also has access to trick and with his dual stabs can contribute after tricking away his item. Although rotom can switch in on ground and fire moves, he his far from a tank and could never stand up to the monster that is exadrill. This is why I chose bronzong to sturdy this team up.

[pimg]442[/pimg]

Bronzong @ Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
EVs:252 HP / 84 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SpD
Nature: Sassy
- Stealth Rock
- Trick
- Earthquake
- HP Ice

Bronzong is a beast of a tank that can support with stealth rock and stand up to some top threats in the ou metagame. Pokemon that think they can set up on bronzong will be sadly mistaken when he tricks them his choice item. This set is not a very effective set until bronzong tricks because he does need the freedom to change moves. I realized my team was physically tanky with a lot of resists and few weaknesses to this point. So i needed to protect myself from those monstrous rain boosted water attacks and fire so I chose vaporeon

[pimg]134[/pimg]
Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs:252 hp / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Nature: Calm
- Scald
- Toxic
- Wish
- Protect

Vaporeon keeps this team together. She passes huge wishes to those who lack recovery such as metagross and bronzong. She also allows me to toxic stall rain teams. vaporeon is mainly here to take the special hits, keep everyone topped off, and to provide a toxic stalling punch that is quite effective. I feel like I had a sturdy defensive core at this point so I decided I wanted to include some poke's who can really wreak some havoc. If I have tricked correctly, I wanted to choose pokemon who can decimate teams when their counters are stuck with one move syndrome.

[pimg]94[/pimg]
Gengar @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs:252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Nature: Timid
- Substitute
- Disable
- Shadow
- Focus Blast

If this guy was not annoying enough, imagine bringing him out against a team that is hindered by choice items. The lol's behind this idea makes me one happy panda. Sub up, disable a choice move, batter them on the switch or watch them struggle to death. This guy was hard enough to counter as is. This was my initial direction that I wanted to take this team, tricking choice items and annoying people to death with gengar. With gengar, rotom, and vaporeon bringing special damage to the table, I felt like I needed to bring some big bad mean to the team.

Conkeldurr @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
EVs:120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SpD
Nature: Adamant
- Bulk Up
- Mach Punch
- Drain Punch
- Rock Slide

What can I say, we all know this guy is a monster. If he gets set up you can pretty much call the match. When the opposing team is shackled by choice items, it is easy to set up with this bohemoth. Then you simply proceed to stomp some face. Walls will not be able to wall so good old conkie gets to carve the opposing team like a chainsaw to a thanksgiving turkey!

So that is my team at a glance. Other pokemon I considered include:

-Choice Jirachi with trick - didnt want to stack up the ground weakness but really wanted to get him on the team

-Iron ball slowbro with trick - Seemed like a good idea but I just felt like he did not bring enough to the table?

-Choice spec/scarf Starmie with trick - Felt like this would be a natural fit but his weaknesses and frailty scared me away

-DD gyarados - I figured he provided ground and fire resistances and could really demolish a team full of choiced pokemon. I feel my team is already a bit lightning weak. Also if a pokemon is given a choice scarf that has an electric move I basically signed his death warrant.

-DD/mixed salamence - I wanted to put this guy on the team so bad because if you manage to lock a teams tanks into a single move this guy could literally murder everything! well maybe not murder because pokemon seem to just faint but his counters are few and this team is great at maiming them.

Im sure their are plenty of other pokemon I did not consider and I would love to hear them. When criticising remember I would like a team with 4 tricks, at least 3. I also like pokemon who do not fear toxic and entry hazards because they are annoying and you do not have to bring a spinner to the table. Please break this team down and help me make this strategy a reality as I realize this team has holes. There were so many pokemon I wanted to use on this team but I just couldn't wrap my head around this idea completely.

The ragequit Factor is supposed to be in tricking choice items to ruin sets and then using disable gengar to disable their only move or conkeldurr to set up and batter teams. I said in my post this was an idea that I am looking for other minds to take a look at. A team that abuses tricks. I don't feel it is redundant because the typing provides very few weaknesses and their job is to ruin other pokemon with trick while being able to still contribute. Thought out suggestions are what I am looking for, the 2 psychic steel comment is something I will consider in the final product of this team.

1) Bronzong and Metagross have the same typing, so they'll usually be luring in the same pokemon. Try replacing one of them with a Choice Scarf Togekiss. She can use Trick, and also gives you a more type variety:

468.png

Togekiss@Choice Scarf
Timid Nature, 252SpA,4SpD,252Spe
Air Slash
Fire Blast/Aura Sphere
Trick
Wish/Roost/Thunder Wave

Air Slash is STAB, while Fire Blast or Aura Sphere handles Steels. Trick is self explanatory. In the last slot, it depends on what you want to do. Wish gives you more support, and Roost is reliable recovery. Thunder Wave, on the other hand, gives you a way to slow down pokemon for Paraflinching.

2) On Gengar, use Torment over Disable. Disable's accuracy is unreliable at best (and infuriating at its worst). Torment, on the other hand, has 100% accuracy and does basically the same thing.

3) This team's biggest asset is how well it causes switches. For this reason, I'd consider adding a pokemon who can use Spikes. You could even replace Gengar with a Frosslass. Just replace Focus Blast with Spikes, and you have a pokemon who can use Torment and Spikes all in one:

froslass.png

Frosslass@Leftovers
Ability: Cursed Body (If it's out, I'm not sure)/Snow Cloak
Timid Nature, 252SpA, 4SpD, 252Spe
Spikes
Substitute
Torment
Shadow Ball/Ice Beam

Spikes gives you more entry hazards, and Substitute lets you scout attacks and block status. Torment is the key to this set, for the reasons I explained already. Shadow Ball and Ice Beam are just STAB options. If her DW ability, Cursed Body) is out (I'm not sure it is), Frosslass becomes even harder for a Choice-Locked pokemon to kill thanks to it's 30% disabling effect. I normally wouldn't recommend Frosslass on an OU team, but she's almost a perfect fit in this case (DW ability or not).

4) I'd give your Metagross and Bronzong Choice Scarves. The last thing you want to do is give something like Scizor or Conkeldurr a Choice Band, which hardly hinders them. A Scarf boosts their speed, but they're still much less threatening than they would be with an attack boost.

That's all I have. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions, I do think I need to run only one steel/psychic so I will have to choose one. I definitely hear you on running choice scarfs, especially if I stick with bronzong. I like the togekiss suggestion and the idea of spikes. My only issue is frostlass is vulnrable to hazards and I thought disable is 100% accurate this gen? If I am wrong please correct me but I thought that was what made sun disable gengar such a monster. Im loving the input so far, keep it coming and I will make some changes to the team when I have some time.

I really like the idea behind this team and I have one recommendation. Over Conkeldurr try a Bulky DD Dragonite.

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 224 HP / 80 Atk / 204 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Roost

This Sweeper will LOVE the trick support your other pokemon provide. He has an easy time setting up on any 'mon tricked into a nfe move and once he starts it's very hard to stop him out side of status. Also I also recommend the Trick Togekiss over your Metagross for extra annoyance.

I stand corrected. Is still recommend Frosslass though. Torment is almost as good, and Spikes are a huge asset for you.

Ok so I think the strategy im leaning towards is running all choice scarfs on my trick users in order to actually ruin hard hitters that would not mind CB's or specs. If I am speeding the other team up, I am thinking of running bulky sets that still hit hard since I will probably have slower pokemon. I would not need to run hard counters for the likes of exadrill since a scarfed exadril is pretty much ruined. discuss the idea of 4 scarf trickers and possibly a trick room sweeper? I do like the idea of bulky DD dragonite but what does he bring to the table over conkeldurr?

i kinda like the idea of he togekiss someone suggested with this set

Togekiss w/ serene grace
Choice scarf

Trick
t wave/ body slam( whatever you think hits more pokes)
air slash
fire blast

I like this cos ppl have tricked my haxorus/terakion etc choice scarves only to have it run through their team with outrage and close combat respectively. Jarachi also does this arguabaly better but you seem to not want psyc/steels which makes sense. So t wave and trick cripples a poke better, and if you trick a poke with over 240 speed (which in this metagame is very slow he/she will outoace gengar and render it pointless.

I know you probably arent going to use him because of his frail defensis but you shoulld defentily try him out. Azelf can use trick so it could replace one of your trickers all though i wouldnt realy suggest running another psychic tricker. I would suggest you try out azelf as a late game sweeper. Its really unsuspected how azelf outspeeds most of the meta even thundoures so its just something i think will beintrestng to try.
