:calyrex-shadow: :koraidon: Welcome to the third Friendly Series tournament - GS Cup DOU! :miraidon: :calyrex-ice:

Format Rules
This format takes inspiration from the VGC format commonly referred to by the same name. Rather than the usual crowd being banned, powerful Pokemon like Kyogre and Calyrex are restricted - in GS Cup, you can use up to two per team. This provides an opportunity for players to use some of the game's most terrifying Pokemon, but with a limit of two, you can't just mash all the brokens on one team, and still need to consider the rest of the Pokedex for your other slots.

The following Pokemon currently banned from DOU will be allowed in this tournament with a limit of two per team:
:annihilape: Annihilape
:basculegion: Basculegion-Male

:magearna: Magearna
Dark Void

All other DOU rules apply normally:
Play Restrictions:
  • Endless Battle Clause: Players cannot use any moveset on any Pokémon capable of intentionally causing an endless battle. Thus:
    • A Pokémon may not carry Recycle and hold a Leppa Berry in conjunction with Heal Pulse and Milk Drink, Moonlight, Morning Sun, Recover, Roost, Slack Off, Soft-Boiled, or Wish.
    • A Pokémon may not hold a Leppa Berry while carrying Recycle and Pain Split.
    • A Pokémon may not hold a Leppa Berry while carrying Recycle and Fling
  • Evasion Clause: Players cannot use the moves Double Team or Minimize.
  • OHKO Clause: Players cannot use the moves Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill, or Sheer Cold.
  • Species Clause: Players cannot have two Pokémon with the same Pokédex number on the same team.
  • Gravity Sleep Clause: Sleep moves with below one hundred percent accuracy may not be used in conjunction with Gravity.
Players cannot use the following moves or abilities:
  • Dark Void
  • Shadow Tag
Finally, some things to be aware of:
  • Some restricted Pokemon have alternate forms that are unrestricted. This includes Basculegion, Calyrex, Deoxys, Kyurem, and Necrozma. These forms may be used freely - for example, you can use Koraidon, Calyrex-Ice, and Deoxys-Speed on the same team - but due to Species Clause, cannot be used alongside their restricted counterpart.
  • Any tiering changes of Pokemon that occur in DOU during this tournament will not apply to the tournament. If a Pokemon is banned or unbanned mid-tour, it will not be added or removed from the restricted list, respectively. (If this format is run again in the future, the restricted list will be updated.) If Archaludon is banned before round 1 is posted, it will be restricted.

Tournament rules:
Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown. Use the Doubles Ubers format until a challenge code is provided.
Replays must be saved and posted in the thread. Any match win reported without replays will not be counted. This is your only warning.
General tournament rules and regulations can be found here. A scheduling guide can be found here.

Tournament structure:
This tournament will consist of three rounds of Swiss, followed by an elimination bracket. All players with a record of 3-0 or 2-1 will advance to the elimination bracket.
All rounds will be one week long, and each round will be posted in this thread.
Even though they are ineligible for the bracket, players at 0-2 of Swiss will still be paired. Playing these games is still encouraged, but if you do not wish to play your 0-2 game, please inform your opponent.
All rounds are best of 3. Players are permitted to change their teams between rounds and between games in each round.

To sign up, post in or brake stupid horse.
Signups will close Tuesday, May 28th at 12:15 AM EDT (GMT -4).
