[SET]
name: Bulky TSpike
move 1: Toxic Spikes
move 2: Strange Steam
move 3: Will-O-Wisp
move 4: Defog / Aromatherapy / Flamethrower / Haze
item: Black Sludge
ability: Levitate
nature: Bold
spread: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpDef
[SET COMMENTS]
This pivot set takes advantage of its good defensive typing and ability to allow it to act as a pivot that can switch into threats such as Conkeldurr, Hydreigon, Clefable, and Obstagoon and setup toxic spikes safely. Its large support movepool also gives it many viable options, like defog, aromatherapy, flamethrower, toxic, and haze. Strange Steam is a great STAB move, being that it hits the Pokémon Weezing counters such as Hydrei, Conk, Grimmsnarl at least neutral damage. As a consequence of having such a large pool of support moves, Weezing can be said to fall victim to the “Four Moveslot Syndrom”. Toxic Spikes and Strange Steam are mandatory moves for max effectiveness, but the other two slots can be varied depending on the needs of the team. It is forced to pick whether it wants Defog to remove hazards and screens, Flamethrower for coverage against Ferrothorn and other steel types that would normally counter it, Will-O-Wisp to cripple physical threats such as Darmanitan-Galar and haze to deal with a boosted setup sweepe.

[TEAM OPTIONS]
Dugtrio is one of the best partners for Weezing. Excadrill and Toxapex are all hard counters to Weezing, walling every possible set. Conveniently, Dugtrio Is able to trap all of them and KO them with Earthquake, allowing Weezing to switch in much more easily and to not be forced as frequently.

item: Leftovers
ability: Levitate

spread: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpDef

[SET DETAILS]
This spread has a max investment into Defense to allow Weezing to effectively deal with strong physical attackers such as a boosted Gyarados or Hawlucha. The remaining 8 EVs were put into Special Defense instead of Special Attack because it is meant to serve a primarily defensive role on teams.

Dugtrio is one of the best partners for Weezing. Gengar Steel Beam Aegislash and Toxapex are all hard counters to Weezing, the latter two taking advantage of its low Special Defense stat of 70, and the former walling every possible set. Conveniently, Dugtrio Is able to trap all three of them and KO them with Earthquake, allowing Weezing to switch in much more easily and to not be forced as frequently.

[OTHER OPTIONS]
Weezing can also run neutralizing gas to nullify abilities like intimidate or regenerator from activating and giving a headache to the user of the mon, but it is usually inferior to levitate, due to it being way too situational

Not QC, but I think we're supposed to write preview analyses first (this follows the format for full-on ones). The format is on one of the first four posts or something.

Felixx

I'm back.

Not QC but Ghost-types can't be trapped at all, so I don't see Dugtrio solving the Aegi and Gengar problem

Isn't Black Sludge preferred than Leftovers? In the case the opposing mon use Trick, if it's not a Poison-type, it will loose HP instead of recovering it.

What about Neutralizing Gas for stuff like Magic Bounce & Regenerator? Edit: Plus Levitate prevents it from absorbing opposing Toxic Spikes.

Hatterene can still do huge damage with Psychic and Weezing isn't doing anything against Toxapex (outside of Wisp).
