PU Leader
[OVERVIEW]

Galarian Rapidash stands out among other Terrain sweepers in PU thanks to its unique blend of characteristics. While noticeably frailer than Uxie, its main competition, Galarian Rapidash can more comfortably set up against defensive teams because of Pastel Veil and its access to immediate recovery in Morning Sun. In addition, Galarian Rapidash's higher Speed lets it naturally outrun common threats like Charizard and Galarian Articuno, making it harder to pressure once it begins setting up. However, Galarian Rapidash often needs to boost multiple times to sweep due to its mediocre Special Attack. Galarian Rapidash's four-moveslot syndrome means that it also struggles to make full use of its good coverage, which, at times, limits its early- to mid-game effectiveness. Outside of Grassy Terrain teams, there is little to no reason to use Galarian Rapidash over other Psychic- and Fairy-types like Mesprit and Whimsicott, since they provide valuable and consistent support, have greater defensive presences, and, in the case of the former, are stronger.

move 4: Mystical Fire / Dazzling Gleam / Healing Wish

nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Mystical Fire breaks through Steel-types such as Togedemaru and Ferroseed while also annoying opposing Stored Power users like Uxie by limiting their Special Attack boosts. Dazzling Gleam is mainly useful for threatening Scrafty, which would otherwise wall Galarian Rapidash. Healing Wish is a good, if niche, utility option that gives a weakened teammate another chance to either sweep or provide support. Pastel Veil protects Galarian Rapidash from being poisoned, which allows it to freely switch in on Toxic and Toxic Spikes. This can be useful for creating additional setup opportunities, something that Galarian Rapidash greatly appreciates. Thwackey is a required teammate due to its ability to automatically set Grassy Terrain upon switching in. Thwackey can also aid Galarian Rapidash by softening up foes like Ferroseed with Knock Off, generating momentum for it with U-turn, and threatening bulky Rock-types such as Gigalith. Other Terrain sweepers are similarly important partners. Hitmonlee is particularly notable for its ability to deal with Scrafty as well as Rock- and Steel-types. Galarian Rapidash pressures many annoying walls in return, such as Weezing and Quagsire.

[OVERVIEW]

Galarian Rapidash stands out among other Terrain sweepers like Hitmonlee and Uxie thanks to its unique blend of characteristics. i think strictly comparing it to Uxie makes sense. You'll want multiple Terrain sweepers on a dedicated team, the question is do you go for Uxie's bulkier approach or G-Rap's faster, non-Sleep reliant one. I would rephrase a little to talk about the split there Decent bulk combined with Morning Sun + Pastel Veil gives Galarian Rapidash both staying power and the ability to comfortably set up against defensive teams. In addition, Galarian Rapidash's high Speed lets it naturally outrun common threats like Charizard and Galarian Articuno, which can make it harder to pressure once it begins setting up. However, Galarian Rapidash often needs to boost multiple times to sweep due to its mediocre Special Attack and how Stored Power works. Galarian Rapidash's four-moveslot syndrome means that it also cannot make full use of its good coverage, which can restrict its early- to mid-game effectiveness. Outside of Grassy Terrain teams, there is little to no reason to use Galarian Rapidash over other Psychic- and Fairy-types like Espeon, Mesprit, and Whimsicott, since they provide valuable and consistent support, have greater defensive presences, and, in the case of the former two, are stronger.

Dazzling Gleam threatens Scrafty and also hits opposing Psychic-types like Espeon and Galarian Articuno harder than any other move Galarian Rapidash can viably run. Alternatively, Mystical Fire breaks through Steel-types such as Togedemaru and Ferroseed can you beat these if you have gleam bc of the def boost or is it absolutely necessary? if the former it's worth mentioning, if the latter then why is it 2nd slash . It also annoys opposing Stored Power users by limiting their Special Attack boosts. Healing Wish is a good utility option that gives a weakened teammate another chance to either sweep or provide support is this actually worth? never seen it, wont say to remove but seems weird. Pastel Veil protects Galarian Rapidash from being poisoned, which allows it to freely switch in on Toxic and Toxic Spikes. Galarian Rapidash's four-moveslot syndrome means that it also cannot make full use of its good coverage, which can restrict its early- to mid-game effectiveness tbh i dont think this is really the case it does what it can, fine w it staying tho . Dazzling Gleam threatens Scrafty and also hits opposing Psychic-types like Espeon and Galarian Articuno harder than any other move Galarian Rapidash can viably run does this get a certain kill or something? feel like dazzle coverage (and hw to an extent) gets into "just use espeon" territory even with the typing diff.
