[OVERVIEW]

Ground
========

Garchomp is a powerful wallbreaker and setup sweeper thanks to Swords Dance and Scale Shot. Swords Dance allows Garchomp to destroy defensive teams, while Scale Shot allows it to gain Speed and clean through more offensive teams. It can easily set up with Swords Dance thanks to its good natural bulk. Garchomp's Speed tier allows it to excel as a cleaner and wallbreaker, taking on threats such as Urshifu-R, Kyurem, Mimikyu, Mew, and Tapu Fini. Its Dragon typing helps it tank Water- and Grass-type attacks from threats such as Rillaboom and Urshifu-R, which potentially allows Garchomp to stop a sweep. While its Speed tier and Dragon typing offer a lot, they still leave Garchomp vulnerable to common threats such as Weavile, Zarude, and Latios and compound a Ground team's natural weakness to Ice-type attacks.

[SET COMMENTS]
Swords Dance allows Garchomp to become a dangerous wallbreaker by letting it OHKO Pokemon such as Tapu Fini with Earthquake and Kyurem with Scale Shot and beating walls such as Amoonguss and Celesteela with more ease. Scale Shot boosts Garchomp's Speed, allowing it to revenge kill faster threats such as Tapu Koko, but it drops Garchomp's Defense and makes it vulnerable to priority attacks such as Rillaboom's Grassy Glide and Bisharp's Sucker Punch. Stone Edge targets Flying-types such as Zapdos, Galarian Moltres, Mantine, and Mandibuzz. Fire Fang hits Grass- and Steel-types such as Tapu Bulu, Ferrothorn, and Celesteela; the latter two are not phased by Garchomp's other attacks. Life Orb allows Garchomp to be a stronger wallbreaker and gives it crucial rolls such as OHKOing bulky Tapu Fini with Swords Dance-boosted Earthquake. Alternatively, Lum Berry can be used to give Garchomp a safer chance to set up against status users such as Blissey, Amoonguss, and Toxapex. Rough Skin allows Garchomp to better handle physical threats such as Urshifu-R.

Hippowdon provides residual damage chip on foes such as Tapu Fini and Tapu Bulu with Stealth Rock and sand and makes it easier for Garchomp to break through them. Excadrill benefits from Hippowdon's sand thanks to Sand Rush and can aid Garchomp by revenge killing Ice-, Fairy-, and Dragon-types such as Alolan Ninetales and Choice Scarf Tapu Lele and clearing entry hazards. Garchomp and Excadrill also benefit from each other breaking down shared checks such as Slowbro and Mandibuzz, allowing the other an easier time sweeping. Gastrodon and Seismitoad offer Garchomp a Water immunity. Gastrodon is the more sustainable option, as it provides a more consistent switch-in to threats such as Barraskewda due to it having reliable recovery, while Seismitoad can deal with threats like Belly Drum Azumarill. Choice Scarf Landorus-T can revenge kill threats such as Dragapult and Tapu Koko, while Gravity Landorus-T allows both itself and Garchomp to check Celesteela, Skarmory, and Corviknight without relying on Fire Fang. Mamoswine takes on Flying-, Dragon-, and Grass-types such as Landorus-T, Latios, and Amoonguss with its powerful Ice-type attacks while also being able to revenge kill Pokemon such as Dragapult for Garchomp. Additionally, Mamoswine can remove items such as Slowbro's Heavy-Duty Boots and Tapu Lele's Choice Scarf, opening up avenues Garchomp to beat them. Nidoking can help Garchomp take on the Steel and Flying matchups, hitting all Steel-types with Earth Power + Flamethrower and all Flying-types with BoltBeam coverage, and take pressure off it. Nidoking can break through Pokemon such as Celesteela, Corviknight, and Skarmory for Garchomp; in return, Garchomp can break past special walls such as Blissey. Choice Scarf Krookodile helps in the Ghost and Psychic matchups, allowing Garchomp to become more threatening by removing faster threats such as Spectrier, Dragapult, Latias, and Alakazam.

**Status**: Garchomp does not deal with status conditions well, as being burned prevents Garchomp from being a powerful physical attacker and being Toxic poisoned puts Garchomp on a timer. Amoonguss can paralyze Garchomp with Stun Spore, preventing it from outspeeding threats such as Nidoking.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically defensive walls such as Slowbro, Galarian Corsola, and Skarmory can take on Garchomp and threaten it with their attacks and utility options such as Scald and Whirlwind. However, these Pokemon need to be careful of Garchomp after it has used Swords Dance, as they are susceptible to its onslaught.

**Revenge Killers**: Faster Pokemon such as Zarude, Spectrier, and Choice Scarf Landorus-T can bring Garchomp down with their STAB attacks; however, if they fail to KO Garchomp, they need to be wary of its attacks.

**Phazers**: Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Avalugg, and Swampert can remove Garchomp's boosts with Whirlwind or Roar and force it out.

* Garchomp is a powerful wallbreaker and setup sweeper thanks to its access to Swords Dance and Scale Shot. Swords Dance allows Garchomp to destroy defensive teams, while Scale Shot allows Garchomp to gain Speed and clean through more offensive teams.
* Its Dragon typing allows Garchomp to take on threats such as Hydreigon with Scale Shot [Its Dragon-typing has nothing to do with taking on Hydreigon with Scale Shot, no? Access to Scale Shot is what allows it to deal with Hydreigon etc.], while its coverage in Stone Edge allows it to hit Flying-types like Zapdos and Galarian Moltres, and Fire Fang allows it to target Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Skarmory.

- Swords Dance allows Garchomp to become a dangerous wallbreaker being able to OHKO Pokemon such as Tapu Fini with Earthquake and Kyurem with Scale Shot. [Add that Swords Dance also allows it to break through defensive walls that otherwise comfortably wall it, add an example or two.]
- Earthquake is Garchomp's main STAB attack and is used whenever the foe does not resist it, targeting Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Nidoking, Tyranitar, Toxapex, Dragalge, and Slowking.
- Scale Shot allows Garchomp to nail Dragon-type Pokemon such as Kyurem, Hydreigon, Kommo-o, and Dracovish. It also boosts Garchomp's Speed allowing it to revenge kill faster threats such as Tapu Koko, while at the cost of a defense drop, being weaker to physical attacks including common priority such as Rillaboom's Grassy Glide and Urshifu-S's Sucker Punch.
- Stone Edge allows Garchomp to target Flying-type Pokemon such as Zapdos, Galarian Moltres, Mantine, and Mandibuzz.
- Fire Fang hits Steel-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Celesteela, the latter of which are not phased by Garchomp's other attacks [Mention that Fire Fang also nails Grass-types like Tapu Bulu that comfortably tank its other attacks and are threatening to Ground teams.].
- Life Orb allows Garchomp to be a stronger wallbreaker such as being able to OHKO utility bulky Tapu Fini with Swords Dance boosted Earthquake.
- Alternatively, a Lum Berry can be used over a Life Orb to give Garchomp a safer chance to set up against status inflicting Pokemon such as Amoonguss and Blissey and Scald users like Toxapex, however has a noticeable reduction of power such as no longer being able to OHKO bulky Tapu Fini after a Swords Dance.
- Maximum Attack and Speed EVs alongside a Jolly nature allow Garchomp to hit as hard as possible while outspeeding threats such as Choice Specs Zapdos, Galarian Moltres, Hydreigon, Tapu Lele, and Urshifu-R.

- Hippowdon provides Stealth Rock and sand, providing residual damage chip on foe's allowing Garchomp to break through them easier such as Tapu Fini, Swampert, and Tapu Bulu.
- Excadrill profits off the sand Hippowdon is able to set, thanks to Sand Rush, which is then able to help Garchomp by revenge killing Ice-, Fairy-, and Dragon-type Pokemon for Garchomp such as Alolan Ninetales, Choice Scarf Tapu Lele, and Choice Scarf Dracovish. Additionally, Excadrill can in return then clear hazards off the field for Garchomp with Rapid Spin. Garchomp and Excadrill also benefit from each other breaking down shared checks such as Celesteela and Mandibuzz, then allowing the other an easier time sweeping.
- Gastrodon and Seismitoad offer Garchomp a Water immunity. Gastrodon is the more sustainable option as it provides a more constant switch-in to threats such as Latios due to its access to reliable recovery, while Seismitoad can deal with threats for Garchomp, namely such as Azumarill boosted by Belly Drum.
- Landorus-T can do a few things for Garchomp, most importantly being a Ground immunity, then also and regardless of whether its acts as a revenge killer or Gravity support, Garchomp always appreciates its presence. With a Choice Scarf set, it can revenge kill threats such as Choice Band Weavile Dragapult and Tapu Koko, while Gravity allows itself and Garchomp, both to check Celesteela, Skarmory, and Corviknight for Garchomp [Could add that Gravity also helps Stone Edge if you want.].
- Mamoswine takes on Flying-, Dragon-, and Grass-type Pokemon for Garchomp with its powerful Ice STAB [Add an example each, for each type mentioned.], while also being able to revenge kill Pokemon such as Dragapult for Garchomp. Additionally, Mamoswine can remove the items such as Slowbro's Heavy-Duty Boots or Tapu Lele's Choice Scarf, either making it more susceptible to hazards on the field or being slower than Garchomp, it opens up avenues for them to be broken by Garchomp.
- Nidoking can help Garchomp take on Steel- and Flying-type Pokemon thanks to its fantastic coverage hitting all Steel-type Pokemon with a combination of Earth Power + Flamethrower or all Flying-type Pokemon with the combination of Thunderbolt + Ice Beam, taking the pressure of Garchomp in these matchups. [Add that they also deal with each other's checks well and give an example.]
- Krookodile is namely for the Ghost- and Psychic-type matchup, being able to revenge kill Pokemon such as Spectrier, Dragapult, Latias, and Alakazam allowing Garchomp to become more threatening in these matchups by removing the faster Pokemon.

Additionally, Mamoswine can remove the items such as Slowbro's Heavy-Duty Boots or Tapu Lele's Choice Scarf, either making it them more susceptible to hazards on the field or being slower than Garchomp, it opens up avenues for them to be broken by Garchomp. Nidoking can break Pokemon such as Celesteela, Corviknight, and Skarmory for Garchomp, in return Garchomp can break past special walls such as Blissey.

Hippowdon provides Stealth Rock and sand, providing residual damage chip on foes such as Tapu Fini and Tapu Bulu with Stealth Rock and sand and making makes it easier for Garchomp to break through them. Nidoking can help Garchomp take on the Steel- (RH) and Flying-type matchups, hitting all Steel-types with Earth Power + Flamethrower and all Flying-types with BoltBeam coverage, and take pressure off it. Nidoking can break through Pokemon such as Celesteela, Corviknight, and Skarmory for Garchomp; in return, Garchomp can break past special walls such as Blissey. Choice Scarf Krookodile helps in the Ghost- (RH) and Psychic-type matchups, allowing Garchomp to become more threatening by removing faster threats such as Spectrier, Dragapult, Latias, and Alakazam.

Other Options
=============

Ground
--------
Outrage can be used over Scale Shot to break through bulky Flying-types such as Mandibuzz and Mantine with more ease on sets without Stone Edge.

Checks and Counters
===================

Ground
--------
**Super Effective Attacks**: Garchomp folds to faster Dragon-, Fairy-, and Ice-types with strong STAB attacks such as Dragapult, Tapu Koko, Choice Scarf Tapu Lele, and Weavile.

**Status**: Garchomp does not deal with status conditions well, as being burnt burned prevents Garchomp from being a powerful physical attacker and being Toxic poisoned puts Garchomp on a timer.
