Introduction
Garchomp is Garchback! Everyone hated on him saying that he couldn't hang with the other OU dragons, but he beat the allegations!
First off I want to give credit to CTC for the original creation of the team. This team was first showed off on Blunder's channel in Joey and Blunder's BL knights series and they seemed to allude that CTC was the one who made the team. I really liked it and I piloted it all the way to rank 4 and made a few changes because of the way the meta will change with

's return. This team peaked 1959 elo and maintained at least 1900 rating very consistently showing how strong it is.

The team
Meowscarada @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Flower Trick
- U-turn
- Low kick/Trick

is this team's form of speed control and its secondary breaker. The ability to outspeed so many pokemon on lead GUARANTEED cannot be overstated as it leads to tremendous consistency. It also outspeeds all relevant+1speed Pokemon in the meta.

are all examples of mons annoyed by being outsped at +1, with a few others I probably missed. Because of this

is my lead of choice in over 70% of my games because there is basically no risk to leading it ever and you just get free chip and usually an advantageous early position. Triple axel is dropped because the team really doesn't struggle with

or

at all, and flower trick did good enough damage that I didn't really miss triple axel (especially because it can't miss!). Originally I had trick to mess up defensive Pokemon like

as well as various setup sweepers if

can't stop them outright with its strength alone. However I only clicked it like 2 times while laddering so I replaced it with low kick. Low kick has ~80% chance to ohko

from full health which really helps vs it. tera grass is chosen to increase the
damage of flower trick late game.
Great Tusk @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Headlong Rush
- Ice Spinner
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
Good old standard

. There isn't too much to elaborate here so I will keep it brief here folks. Having rapid spin is good for this team with the team's susceptibility to hazards. Tusk is mainly a supporter but can definitely come out to do some big damage once in a while. Knock off is good to have a 2nd Pokemon to remove hazards. Heavy duty boots is chosen to not get worn down by hazards over a long game. great tusk does the usual and offensively threatens

,

,

,

, and many others. Tera steel helps against fairy and dragon moves in a pinch.

Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Future Sight
- Chilly Reception
- Sludge Bomb
- Ice Beam
Physdef

is the 1st half of the defensive core for this team, with physical defensive investment it is able to survive a 2hko from

most of the time (6% that ivy cudgel 2hkos). This is fantastic because we are very weak to

so having a switch-in that can ward it off once is super valuable. Physdef also helps live weaker earthquakes from non attack invested

and

to ko them with ice beam. This is the team's primary check to

so it is important to keep this healthy so it can be pivoted around. Other than that

does what it always does best, future sight and chilly out to enable our team's strong breakers. Tera Ice is specifically for sub protect

because in some matchups you need a bit of a sturdier long term answer to it. I didn't need a different tera on

anyways because I never really needed to use a different one.

Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
Choice specs

is the primary breaker of the team. Choice specs shadow ball and draco meteor is very spammable and

breaks apart many defensive cores by itself, especially with future sight support from

. It synergizes especially well with

because basically everything that

hates,

takes advantage of. u-turn from the two of them are very spammable and helps rack up hazard chip on mons to put them into range of their attacks. Infiltrator as the ability helps vs substitute pokemon like

preventing them from taking free advantage of passive

and

. Tera ghost is chosen to achieve higher shadow ball damage for late game sweeps.

Alomomola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 12 HP / 252 Def / 244 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Flip Turn
- Play Rough
- Ice Beam
- Mirror Coat/Scald
This is the 2nd half of this team's defensive core and I'm not gonna sugercoat it, this set is broken. This might be the most insane defensive pivot in ou, it checks every special attacker in the tier and pivots for free against every team that does not have

. Assault vest give

truly insane levels of bulk, letting it pivot in against practically every special attacker in the tier. Here is a list of every pokemon

can free pivot in on:

,

,

,

,

,

,

,

,

,

,

,

(if special),

,

,

, and to a limited extent even

. Getting what is essentially a free flip turn on all of these pokes is massive. It consistently is able to pivot in

and

multiple times a game for big damage and racks up tons of chip damage from

's hazards. The evs optimize

's bulk and min speed is run to get slow flip turns. Play rough allow's

to check some of the tier's scary dragon types like

and

. Ice beam is run specifically for

, as it will out-damage its healing from poison heal, allowing us to overwhelm it (note that without ice beam

will actually lose 1v1 to

.) The last move slot is up for debate. I used scald initially because the ability to fish for burns is nice. However with the recent unbanning of

I would highly recommend running mirror coat instead to threaten

with an ohko if it attempts to freeze dry you again after you switch in. Tera fairy is chosen to turn off the weakness to freeze dry while making play rough stronger. It is also used to gain an immunity to dragon moves which has saved me a few times.

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
Finally the mon of the hour,

fills a unique niche on this team as a dual hazard setter that could punish contact mons. Defense investment helps

accomplish this goal and 40 speed evs outspeeds modest

. Dragon tail is very useful for phazing and getting chip on various things most notably

, allowing the team to overwhelm it in the long term with stealth rocks up.

's hp is generally used as a resource on this team as a swiss army knife to deal with various threats. It cannot be overstated how much rocky helmet rough skin helps this team out its incredible. For example doing an extra 25% chip to Pokemon like

as they u-turn out while rocks are up can mean the difference between

being able to break through it. It also is great against pokemon like

and

punishing them hard for trying to punish

. This

was originally tera water but I changed it to tera steel to help out against DD

specifically to be able to phaze it out, but it should also help against fairy types in a pinch
Threats
He's back and he's scary but he's not unbeatable.

is able to tank 2 non choice specs freeze drys from

and threaten an ohko back with mirror coat. If

is sub then infiltrator

will easily force it out. If it tries to tera ground, then flip turn from

can break the substitute and allow for an easy revenge. If the opposing team is slow enough, it may be worth it to tera ice

to wall it forever while you pick apart their team. Dragon dance sets are a little scarier but this team still has options to revenge it like scarf

, play rough from

, and as a last resort tera steel

.
Probably the biggest threat to the team, even more so than

. It 2hkos every Pokemon on the team and stops

's flip turn antics. It is important to get and keep hazards up against this to limit the amount of times it can hit the field.

can always live one hit from full thankfully and trade damage on it. If

lacks knock off it is even able to switch in directly and avoid a 2hko most of the time. Limiting

short-term is all that this team needs, as eventually it will get worn down and the team's defensive core will likely become unbreakable for the opponent from there.
