[OVERVIEW]

* One of the main allures of Gastrodon is its ability Storm Drain, which grants it an immunity to Water and acts as a critical Water-type move deterrent that benefits many of its potential teammates. This makes users of Muddy Water like Tapu Fini think twice before using the move, as they risk raising the Special Attack of Gastrodon while also negating non-spread Water-type attacks, such as those from Milotic and Araquanid.

* Storm Drain often helps against rain teams, as it redirects Water-type moves from teammates so that they can threaten the sweeper. Due to the prevalence of Ludicolo on rain teams, Gastrodon is more of a check than a counter most of the time.

* Gastrodon has a solid defensive typing that grants it resistances to a variety of types and an immunity to Electric-type moves, leaving only a 4x weakness to Grass. Gastrodon finds itself as a defensive glue on many teams due to the large number of Pokemon it checks, such as Incineroar, Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, Heatran, Nihilego, Zapdos, Mega Gengar, and Mega Manectric.

* Despite having great Health and Special Defense stats, the poor Defense of Gastrodon limits its tanking potential. It can be heavily damaged by strong physical attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Mawile, and Zen Headbutt Mega Metagross or OHKOed by some Z-Moves such as Tectonic Rage from Landorus-T or Excadrill.

* Gastrodon has low Speed and rarely will outspeed anything even with Tailwind up, though this makes it all the more valuable against Trick Room teams.

* Gastrodon faces competition when it comes to being a rain check from Ferrothorn, as Ferrothorn doesn’t have to worry about being OHKOed by Ludicolo and can threaten it or its teammates back with moves such as Power Whip. In addition Gastrodon faces competition from Tapu Fini for the bulky Water role on various teams, as Tapu Fini has access to many more moves such as Calm Mind and Heal Pulse and it has more bulk, Speed, and Special Attack.

[SET]

move 4: Protect / Recover

[SET COMMENTS]

* Earth Power provides an accurate STAB attack that allows Gastrodon to threaten Pokemon such as Tapu Koko, Incineroar, and Heatran.

* Ice Beam hits many Pokemon for super effective damage, such as Mega Salamence, Landorus, and Zapdos, and has strong neutral coverage alongside Earth Power.

* The option of Clear Smog allows Gastrodon to win the one-on-one versus Calm Mind Tapu Fini and allows it to clear away any threatening boosts on opposing Pokemon. This makes Gastrodon less susceptible to becoming setup bait. Recover can give reliable recovery outside of the Wiki Berry to allow Gastrodon to be a nuisance throughout the game. Scald provides a spammable STAB move that has a decent 30% chance to burn an opposing pokemon, though the other 2 moves in the set give the necessary coverage to not usually need this move outside of its burn chance.

* Protect grants Gastrodon the ability to allow its partners to deal with its checks while keeping itself safe.

* Wiki Berry improves Gastrodon's longevity and grants it a form of recovery should it not run Recover.

* The EVs on this set guarantee an OHKO on 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence with Ice Beam and prevents Gastrodon from being 2HKOed by a 252 Atk Adamant Landorus-T Earthquake, a 252 SpA Modest Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball and a 252 SpA Mega Gengar Shadow Ball

* 26 Speed IVs allow Gastrodon to underspeed Aegislash by one point to OHKO with Earth Power. Gastrodon can run a Quiet nature with 0 Speed IVs to be more threatening on Trick Room teams or against them.

* Gastrodon should be switched in on moves it rests or is immune to, especially predicted Water-type moves to use its Water deterring abilities to the fullest. Gastrodon can be kept on the field alongside Pokemon weak to Water-types attacks in order to discourage Water-type attackers from using attacks that could hit its teammate.

* Gastrodon enjoys Pokemon such as Incineroar and Landorus-T as teammates, as they can weaken physical threats with Intimidate and appreciate Gastrodon's ability to deter Water-types.

* Gastrodon is often run with Pokemon such as Mega Metagross and Tapu Lele, as both enjoy a rain check, a way to remove Steel-types like Heatran and Mega Metagross lacking Zen Headbutt, and Gastrodon checking metagame threats like Incineroar and Landorus-T.

* Gastrodon also appreciates Pokemon such as Incineroar, Charizard, and Zapdos with Heat Wave that can threaten Grass-types.

A lot of basic grammar and formatting that needs to be addressed here before I'll check the content:
  • Remove the triple line breaks.
  • Add a space after every asterisk.
  • Change the set to follow this format instead of the Showdown one:

I'll make the changes as soon as I get home from NYC this evening

Overview
  • This section needs an overhaul. The primary goal here is to establish Gastrodon's place in the metagame, which it doesn't accomplish.
  • The only reason people use Gastrodon is because of Storm Drain, so that's how the opening bullet point should sell it. Its defensive stats are pretty solid given its high HP, and concentrating on its weakness to Grass is only worthwhile in the context of how common they are.
  • Other things you want to talk about are:
    • Which Pokemon and archetypes does Gastrodon do well against and which threaten it?
      • The first catagory includes Landorus-T, rain teams, Trick Room etc... The second physical attackers, tech grass moves etc...
    • Which similar Pokemon does Gastrodon face competition for a team spot from?
      • Ferrothorn as a rain check, Tapu Fini as a bulky Water-type etc...
Set
  • Change the set to:
name: Bulky Attacker
move 1: Earth Power
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Clear Smog / Recover / Scald / Toxic
move 4: Protect / Recover
item: Wiki Berry
ability: Storm Drain

  • Gastrodon has a high HP stat in comparison to its defenses, so it's more efficient to distribute the stats evenly.
  • 26 Speed IVs are used to underspeed Aegislash by one point to OHKO its Blade-forme with Earth Power.
100+ SpA Gastrodon Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 172-204 (100.5 - 119.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 124 HP / 148 Def Gastrodon: 84-100 (41.5 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Set Comments
  • You can combine the bullet points concerning moves competing for the same moveslot (ie. Clear Smog, Recover, and Scald).
  • Mention Quiet + 0 Speed IVs as an option for full Trick Room teams wishing to outpace as many foes as possible.
  • Remove all of this, since it's more the sort of thing I'd expect to see in the Overview:
* Gastrodon finds itself as a defensive glue on many teams due to the large amount of pokemon it beats one on one.

* This makes it straightforward to play as it has the potential to threaten a myriad of threats with a combination of its typing, ability, bulk and movepool and provides difficulty for unprepared teams.

* Gastrodon can switch into many special threats such as Tapu Fini and Tapu Koko though should avoid switching in on physical threats such as Kartana and Mega Kangaskhan as it’ll struggle to absorb many hits if not be ohko’d outright.

* Gastrodon has atrocious speed are rarely will outspeed anything even with tailwind up, though this makes it all the more valuable against trick room teams
Will do a second check once the above has been implemented.

[Overview]
* One of the main allures of Gastrodon is it’s ability Storm Drain. This grants it an immunity to water Water (Capitalize) and allows for critical water type Water-type move redirection that benefits many of its potential team mates.

* Storm Drain often helps against rain teams as it redirects water type Water-type moves from teammates such that they can threaten the sweeper. Due to the prevalence of Ludicolo on rain teams Gastrodon is more of a check than a counter most of the time.

* Gastrodon has a solid defensive typing that grants resistances to a variety of types and an immunity to electric type Electric-type moves, leaving only a 4x weakness to grass Grass.

* Gastrodon finds itself as a defensive glue on many teams due to the large amount of pokemon it checks such as Incineroar, Mega Manectric, Tapu Koko, Heatran, Landorus, Nihilego, Zapdos, Tyranitar, Excadrill, etc. (Merge with previous bullet point)

* Gastrodon is blessed with a great Health stat along with good Special Defense and as a result can switch into many special threats such as Tapu Fini and Tapu Koko. (Remove. Getting too close to just listing stats and it's not really needed)

* Despite having great Health and Special Defense stats, the poor Physical Defense of Gastrodon limits its tanking potential and lets itself be ohko’d or heavily damaged by many physical attackers in the meta and as a result Gastrodon should avoid switching in on physical threats such as Kartana (Kangaskhan is a good example, but Kartana is not due to being a Grass-type. Replace with a strong attacker that hits it neutrally) and Mega Kangaskhan as it’ll struggle to absorb many hits if not be ohko’d outright.

* In addition Gastrodon has atrocious speed low Speed (Atrocious isn't entirely applicable given that, as you state, this has benefits under Trick Room) and rarely will outspeed anything even with tailwind Tailwind up, though this makes it all the more valuable against trick room Trick Room teams.

* The 4x grass weakness that Gastrodon has often been exploited by players as many run grass types on their team such as Tapu Bulu and Kartana. Some builders even will add grass type moves to pokemon it normally checks such as Z-Solar Beam Heatran. (I would reword this to talk about how the prevelance of these factors leave Gastrodon more threatened than you'd otherwise expect. Right now, It sounds like players are putting these things on teams specifically to counter Gastrodon, which is misleading)

* Gastrodon faces competition when it comes to being a rain check from Ferrothorn as Ferrothorn doesn’t have to worry about being ohko’d by Ludicolo and can threaten it or its teammates back with moves such as Power Whip or Toxic.

* In addition Gastrodon faces competition from Tapu Fini for the role as the bulky water on various teams as Tapu Fini has access to many more moves such as Calm Mind and Heal Pulse and it has more bulk, Speed and Special Attack. (Merge with the previous bullet point)

[Set Comments]

* Earth Power provides reliable stab that allows Gastrodon to threaten pokemon Pokemon such as Tapu Koko, Incineroar and Heatran

* Ice Beam hits many pokemon Pokemon for super effective damage such as Salamence-Mega, Landorus and Zapdos.

* The option of Clear Smog allows Gastrodon to win the 1v1 versus Calm Mind Tapu Fini and allows it to clear away any threatening boosts on opposing pokemon Pokemon. Scald provides another spammable stab, though it is more team reliant as the other 2 moves in the set give the necessary coverage as to not usually need this move. Toxic allows for gastrodon Gastrodon to win wars of attrition against various pokemon it cannot kill on its own without this move such as Cresselia, Porygon 2 and other Gastrodon. Recover can give reliable recovery outside of the Wiki Berry such to allow Gastrodon to be a nuisance throughout the game.

* Protect grants Gastrodon the ability to allow its partners to deal with it’s checks while keeping itself safe.

* Wiki Berry allows Gastrodon to recover off of hard hitting Z-Moves and have necessary health to take another possible hit.

* The EVs on this set guarantee that Gastrodon tanks necessary hits to retaliate in an ohko on various meta threats.

* 100+ SpA Gastrodon Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence: 172-204 (100.5 - 119.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
* 252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 124 HP / 148 Def Gastrodon: 84-100 (41.5 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
* 252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 124 HP / 132 SpD Gastrodon: 84-100 (41.5 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
* 252 SpA Mega Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 124 HP / 132 SpD Gastrodon: 84-100 (41.5 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
(You need to write these, not just copy and paste calcs. "The EVs and nature allow Gastrodon to OHKO ___, and survive ___...". Also, mention what the 26 Speed IVs accomplish)

* Gastrodon can run a Quiet nature with 0 Speed IVs such to be more threatening on Trick Room teams or against them.

(Need some examples of good teammates to pair with Gastrodon here. There's a list of the most popular on the Global Link or the Battle Spot Usage Stats site)

The most common Water-type is easily Tapu Fini, whose most common Water-type move is Muddy Water. Storm Drain does not redirect this. In my opinion, the primary use of Storm Drain is not to redirect Water-type attacks. Rather it is to deter the use of Water-type attacks. Should your opponent use Water-type attacks, you have a boosted Pokemon that both deals good damage and is difficult to KO. I see Gastrodon in a similar vein to Milotic and opposing Intimidate. This is what makes Gastrodon effective against teams with Tapu Fini, or other spread Water-type attacks. Gastrodon's main use is on teams which have multiple Pokemon weak to Water-type moves, in order to deter Water-type moves. As an extra bonus, against rain teams, Araquanid, or Suicune, the redirection effect is more apparent, letting Gastrodon not only deter Water-type attacks but redirect them.

Whilst its primary function is deterring Water-types, it also functions as a defensive glue by checks a wide variety of common Pokemon (a list you have mentioned in your Overview).

All the above should be reflected in your write-up @Luckyboy123. Feel free to change your write-up to reflect this.

More specific points:

- Remove Tyranitar and Excadrill as being checked from Overview
  • Excadrill OHKOes Gastrodon with Tectonic Rage, which is what it commonly runs. You also do not OHKO Excadrill in return. 252+ Atk Excadrill Tectonic Rage (185 BP) vs. 124 HP / 148 Def Gastrodon: 199-235 (98.5 - 116.3%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO.
  • Tyranitar is very shakely checked. Unless Tyranitar is Scarf, it is only 3HKOed. In return, 252 Atk+ Tyranitar, depending on the rolls, may 2HKO Gastrodon without procing the berry. It can also potentially only 4HKO with the berry, but that is assuming no boosts like a Z-move, Weakness Policy, or Mega DD. 252+ Atk Tyranitar Crunch vs. 120 HP / 148 Def Gastrodon: 87-103 (43.2 - 51.2%) -- 6.3% chance to 2HKO
- Remove the point of Ferrothorn using Toxic in Overview. I can't recall ever seeing Ferrothorn using Toxic.
- Remove Toxic as a slash in the moves. You can still mention it in AC, but I don't consider it as useful or common as the other moves.
- Need to mention when you talk about Clear Smog is that it prevents foes from using Gastrodon as set-up bait, since Gastrodon doesn't deal much damage when it isn't hitting super-effectively. You could combine that with your CM Fini point
- In Team options,
  • Mention Incineroar and Lando-T first. when you mention Intimidate in team options, mention it covers Gastrodon weaker defence stat. Furthermore you deter Water-type attacks for Incineroar and Lando-T
  • you should be specific with what Steel-types Gastrodon checks. Otherwise i'm just going to assume every common Steel-type, which includes Kartana who Gastrodon most definitely does not check
  • Zapdos needs Heat Wave to check Grass-types. Incineroar also deters Grass-types

[Overview]

* One of the main allures of Gastrodon is its ability Storm Drain. This grants it an immunity to Water and acts as a critical Water-type move deterrent that benefits many of its potential teammates. This makes users of Muddy Water like Tapu Fini think twice before using the move as they risk raising the special attack of Gastrodon, whilst also negating non-spread Water-type attacks such as those from Milotic and Araquanid. Figured we should mention the more common Water-type attacks somewhere - so far it's just Fini and rain.

* Storm Drain often helps against rain teams as it redirects Water-type moves from teammates such that they can threaten the sweeper. Due to the prevalence of Ludicolo on rain teams Gastrodon is more of a check than a counter most of the time.

* Gastrodon has a solid defensive typing that grants resistances to a variety of types and an immunity to Electric-type moves, leaving only a 4x weakness to Grass. Gastrodon finds itself as a defensive glue on many teams due to the large amount of pokemon it checks such as Incineroar, Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, Heatran, Nihilego, Zapdos, Mega Gengar, and Mega Manectric etc. I moved Lando-T more forward and Mega Manetric to the end to better reflect their usage, and removed etc. Also added Mega Gengar since it's fairly relevant.

* Despite having great Health and Special Defense stats, the poor Physical Defense of Gastrodon limits its tanking potential. It can be ohko’d or heavily damaged by strong many physical attackers in the meta such as Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Mawile, and Zen Headbutt Mega Metagross, or OHKOed by some Z-moves such as Tectonic Rage from Landorus-T or Excadrill. and as a result Gastrodon should avoid switching in on physical threats such as Mega Mawile and Mega Kangaskhan as it’ll struggle to absorb many hits if not be ohko’d outright.
You make Gastrodon sound like it's easier to OHKO than it is. It is very difficult to OHKO without a Z-move - even Adamant Mega Kang and Mega Mawile cannot OHKO. They do heavily damage it though. I removed the part about switching in, as that is more of a usage tip appropriate for AC than an Overview worthy line.

* Gastrodon has low Speed and rarely will outspeed anything even with Tailwind up, though this makes it all the more valuable against Trick Room teams.

* Grass types such as Tapu Bulu and Kartana and Pokemon with Grass-type coverage such as Mega Charizard Y with Solar Beam as the odd Z-Solar Beam Heatran can handily deal with Gastrodon due to its 4x weakness to grass. Playing around such threats with other teammates greatly extends the longevity of Gastrodon. Solar Beam Zard Y is much more common than Z-SB Heatran. The last line is also more suited as an AC usage tip than for Overview.

* Gastrodon faces competition when it comes to being a rain check from Ferrothorn as Ferrothorn doesn’t have to worry about being ohko’d by Ludicolo and can threaten it or its teammates back with moves such as Power Whip. In addition Gastrodon faces competition from Tapu Fini for the role as the bulky water on various teams as Tapu Fini has access to many more moves such as Calm Mind and Heal Pulse and it has more bulk, Speed and Special Attack.

[Set Comments]

* Earth Power provides accurate stab that allows Gastrodon to threaten Pokemon such as Tapu Koko, Incineroar and Heatran (I wouldn't call it reliable since many Pokemon are immunie to it)

* Ice Beam hits many Pokemon for super effective damage such as Salamence-Mega, Landorus and Zapdos, and has strong neutral coverage alongside Earth Power

* The option of Clear Smog allows Gastrodon to win the 1v1 versus Calm Mind Tapu Fini and allows it to clear away any threatening boosts on opposing Pokemon. This makes Gastrodon less susceptible to becoming set up bait. Scald provides another spammable stab, though it is more team reliant as the other 2 moves in the set give the necessary coverage as to not usually need this move. Not sure why Scald is more team reliant. Toxic is also a possible option as it allows for gastrodon to win wars of attrition against various Pokemon it cannot kill on its own without this move such as Cresselia, Porygon 2 and other Gastrodon.

This line needs to be redone - Wiki Berry is not the item of choice because of Z-moves. In reality you should either be switching Gastrodon into Z-moves that it is immune to, or out of moves that would do so much damage that your Berry would proc. Many of the common ones do OHKO Gastrodon to.

* The EV’s on this set guarantee an OHKO on 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence with Ice Beam and prevents Gastrodon from being to be 2hko’d by a 252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake, a 252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball and a 252 SpA Mega Gengar Shadow Ball

* 26 speed IVs allow Gastrodon to underspeed Aegislash-Blade by one point to ohko with Earth Power.

* Gastrodon can run a Quiet nature with 0 Speed IVs such to be more threatening on Trick Room teams or against them.

Should add a line or lines about Usage tips - switching Gastrodon in on its immunities or resisted hits, especially when you predict your opponent will use a Water-type attack, trying to keep it on the field to deter Water-type attacks, whilst switching it out of predicted Grass-type attacks or strong neutral hits such as Z-moves that may heavily damage or OHKO it. Some of that stuff I removed from Overview could go here.

* Gastrodon enjoys Pokemon such as Incineroar and Landorus-T as teammates as they can weaken physical threats with Intimidate, who in turn appreciate Gastrodon's ability to deter Water-types. Gastrodon is often run with Pokemon such as Mega-Metagross and Tapu Lele as both enjoy a rain check, a way to remove Steel-types like Heatran and Mega-Metagross lacking Zen Headbutt, and Gastrodon checking metagame threats like Incineroar and Landorus-T. In addition Gastrodon also appreciates Pokemon that can threaten Grass types such as Incineroar, Charizard and Zapdos with Heat Wave.
After this, I'll take another look, then will likely get another QC member to have another look before considering a QC approval.

Minor points

* Gastrodon should be switched in on immunities and resistances, especially predicted Water-Type moves such to use it's Water deterring abilities to the fullest.

* Gastrodon should switch out against Grass-Type moves and hard hitting neutral attacks such as Z-moves that may heavily damage or OHKO it. This will greatly extend the life of your Gastrodon throughout a game
Add something in between these two points that Gastrodon can be kept on the field in front of Water-type attackers alongside Pokemon weak to Water-types attacks in order to discourage Water-type attacks that could hit your teammate. You should then combine all three points together than to form a "Usage tips" point.

Carbonific can you give this analysis another read? I feel it could benefit from another read before it gets 2/2.

* Earth Power provides accurate stab STAB that allows Gastrodon to threaten Pokemon such as Tapu Koko, Incineroar and Heatran.

* Ice Beam hits many Pokemon for super effective damage such as Salamence-Mega Mega Salamence, Landorus and Zapdos, and has strong neutral coverage alongside Earth Power

* The option of Clear Smog allows Gastrodon to win the 1v1 versus Calm Mind Tapu Fini and allows it to clear away any threatening boosts on opposing Pokemon. This makes Gastrodon less susceptible to becoming set up bait. Scald provides another spammable stab, though the other 2 moves in the set give the necessary coverage as to not usually need this move. Toxic is also a possible option as it allows for gastrodon to win wars of attrition against various Pokemon it cannot kill on its own without this move such as Cresselia, Porygon 2 and other Gastrodon. (Toxic has been taken off the set) Recover can give reliable recovery outside of the Wiki Berry such to allow Gastrodon to be a nuisance throughout the game.

* Protect grants Gastrodon the ability to allow its partners to deal with it’s checks while keeping itself safe.

* Wiki Berry allows Gastrodon to be more of a nuisance on the field as it improves Gastrodon's longevity and grants Gastrodon to have a form of recovery should it not run Recover.

* The EV’s on this set guarantee an OHKO on 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Salamence with Ice Beam and prevents Gastrodon from being to be 2hko’d 2HKOed by a 252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake, a 252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball and a 252 SpA Mega Gengar Shadow Ball

* 26 speed IVs allow Gastrodon to underspeed Aegislash-Blade by one point to ohko with Earth Power.

* Gastrodon can run a Quiet nature with 0 Speed IVs such to be more threatening on Trick Room teams or against them. (Merge with the previous point. They're both talking about Speed manipulation)

* Gastrodon should be switched in on immunities and resistances, especially predicted Water-type moves such to use it's Water deterring abilities to the fullest. Gastrodon can be kept on the field in front of Water-type attackers alongside Pokemon weak to Water-types attacks in order to discourage Water-type attacks that could hit your teammate. Gastrodon should switch out against Grass-Type moves and hard hitting neutral attacks such as Z-moves that may heavily damage or OHKO it. This will greatly extend the life of your Gastrodon throughout a game. (First part is obvious, second part isn't always true; sometimes you can mitigate the attack, and sometimes sacrificing Pokemon is fine to get a free switch)

* Gastrodon enjoys Pokemon such as Incineroar and Landorus-T as teammates as they can weaken physical threats with Intimidate, who in turn appreciate Gastrodon's ability to deter Water-types. (Start here on a new bullet point) Gastrodon is often run with Pokemon such as Mega-Metagross and Tapu Lele as both enjoy a rain check, a way to remove Steel-types like Heatran and Mega-Metagross lacking Zen Headbutt, and Gastrodon checking metagame threats like Incineroar and Landorus-T. In addition (And again. New point) Gastrodon also appreciates Pokemon that can threaten Grass types such as Incineroar, Charizard and Zapdos with Heat Wave.

[OVERVIEW]

* One of the main allures of Gastrodon is its ability Storm Drain, (AC) which . This grants it an immunity to Water and acts as a critical Water-type move deterrent that benefits many of its potential teammates. This makes users of Muddy Water like Tapu Fini think twice before using the move, (AC) as they risk raising the Special Attack of Gastrodon, (RC) whilst while also negating non-spread Water-type attacks, (AC) such as those from Milotic and Araquanid.

* Storm Drain often helps against rain teams, (AC) as it redirects Water-type moves from teammates such so that they can threaten the sweeper. Due to the prevalence of Ludicolo on rain teams, (AC) Gastrodon is more of a check than a counter most of the time.

* Gastrodon has a solid defensive typing that grants it resistances to a variety of types and an immunity to Electric-type moves, leaving only a 4x weakness to Grass. Gastrodon finds itself as a defensive glue on many teams due to the large amount number of Pokemon it checks, (AC) such as Incineroar, Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, Heatran, Nihilego, Zapdos, Mega Gengar, and Mega Manectric.

* Despite having great Health and Special Defense stats, the poor Physical Defense of Gastrodon limits its tanking potential. It can be heavily damaged by strong physical attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Mawile, and Zen Headbutt Mega Metagross, (RC) or OHKOed by some Z-Moves such as Tectonic Rage from Landorus-T or Excadrill.

* Gastrodon has low Speed and rarely will outspeed anything even with Tailwind up, though this makes it all the more valuable against Trick Room teams.

* Gastrodon faces competition when it comes to being a rain check from Ferrothorn, (AC) as Ferrothorn doesn’t have to worry about being ohko’d OHKOed by Ludicolo and can threaten it or its teammates back with moves such as Power Whip. In addition Gastrodon faces competition from Tapu Fini for the bulky Water role as the bulky water on various teams, (AC) as Tapu Fini has access to many more moves such as Calm Mind and Heal Pulse and it has more bulk, Speed, (AC) and Special Attack.
