Gen VII: Pokémon Sun and Moon (New info Post #5834)

There's always the possibility that the new forms will be included via an update of the oras and xy games on the store, and there is no pokemon z. After all, 6 months (assuming the z trailer comes at the start of jan) between announcement and release is a very short, and unrealistic time

I believe Pokémon Z has been finished quite some time ago already, so no need to worry there. After all Game Freak is a company, and its employees need something to do when they arrive at the office in the morning. They haven't been sitting idle playing tic-tac-toe since the release of ORAS, waiting for a new game to be announced so they can start making it. Rather, the start of "project Pokémon Z" was probably well before ORAS was even finished, with some key decisions being made while XY was still in development (deciding what features to withhold from XY so they could be used as selling points for Z, for instance). They're probably well into the seventh generation by now. It doesn't take two years to create a game that's 80 % copypasted content from XY.

Also, yay...? for Volcanion. Wonder what all that Japanese text says?

Looks like just announcing what type it is, and commenting that the typing seems contradictory.

They're probably well on their way working on Gen VII, maybe even on the early planning stages for Gen VIII.

Seems weird that they actually plan on releasing nearly all the event Pokemon before Z comes out. Makes me think there might be newer additions to the dex forme wise besides what we know. They waited til Platinum to release Darkrai & Shaymin. I thought they were gonna wait for Z to announce Volcanion, but maybe not.

Really wish they could help dispel the pessimism toward this game and give us something to keep us sated.

I am placing my money on movie details as well as a reveal (or at least a silhouette) of Volcanion, and minor Anime details (possibly about Zygarde). I would be very surprised if they announced Pokémon Z next issue of CoroCoro.
See what did I tell you people? Well I didn't get the anime details on Zygarde bit right but considering past December reveals, this was pretty easily telegraphed.

Now watch as an alternative forme for Volcanion (whether it be a Mega Evolution or something different) gets revealed or at least silhouetted next month.

But yeah I think Game Freak et al are deliberately delaying announcing Z until the new year on purpose so they can then eventually set a release date for Q4 next year to keep up the Japanese tradition of always releasing a new main series Pokémon Game within the last four months of the year (in Japan) because "Christmas" and not having the release date so far out from the reveal.

I kind of doubt they'd make it Q4. It'd be really unprecedented in that it'd come out way later than the movie (July), and it'd be two years since the last release. We've had long release dates before but I highly doubt they'd make a 2-year gab.

If you believe the theory about Z being delayed, you can sort of say they're buying time with the event 'mons. Volcanion was probably planned to be revealed in Z, like Diancie was in XY and Hoopa was in ORAS. Then, delays happened, but luckily Volcanion is compatible with XY and ORAS so the event could be done anyway.

A hitch in the theory is the existence of Floette-E, though. If they planned for one event every year, they have enough event 'mons for four years. Would that have implied two events for Z? Or was Z meant to be released so long after ORAS from the very beginning? Was the ORAS-Z interim meant to be a "test period" for Nintendo to see if spin-off games (of which we've had quite many) could carry the franchise? It'll be interesting to know the answer one day...

Volcanion has been officially revealed. Yay. After we've already known its typing, stats, and full movepool for months. I have to wonder, does Nintendo know that we know these things before they tell us?

They have to have people looking at the internet, right? And they did put it in XY and ORAS, despite the leak potential, so you wonder if it really was meant originally for Z.

I guess it is news to those fans who follow Nintendo's announcements closely, but who've never seen a Pokémon fan site.

Pretty much absolutely nobody, in other words.
All the children who have to ask their parent's permission before going online feel no love from Codraroll.
The thing with the event mons is kind of weird. They distributed Diancie using promotional material for ORAS, because her Mega isn't available in XY. Then, they finally released Hoopa, again with the intention of having it in ORAS and not XY.

It's totally confusing at this point, though. You can't really make an accurate guess as to how/when they're going to release Volcanion outside of Japan. There's still no information on the next games, and since both Diancie and Hoopa have been released with the intent of almost immediately unlocking their alternate forms once you got them, the only precedents they've set forth is that the event mons will be made available to tie in to a movie release and with being able to use their alt in mind.

Japan is gonna get him sometime in June/July, the rest of us might just possibly have to wait until December next year...

Oh Nintendo knows. I remember on time, before Arceus was officially revealed, someone asked a GF game director (not sure if it was Junichi Masuda or not) about Arceus but he pretended he didn't know what they were talking about. I think the message there that even if we know about the Event Pokemon before they're released, as far as official game stuff goes like tournaments, they don't exist. Heck that's why as of recent the Event Pokemon have been given new forme's/Mega Evolutions to keep some of the surprise factor.

Who says Floette-E is an Event Pokemon? Maybe they're planning to give the player Floette-E in XY2/Z. Or give it out as a special Pokemon like with the Pokeball Pattern Vivillon. If I recall Floette-E is no stronger than a Florges with just its stats slightly re-distributed and knowing Light of Ruin which is a Fairy-type recoil version of Psycho Boost.

Maybe the fact that so far you can't get it through normal gameplay because it's so special, like all event mons, could be evidence enough to convince someone to think that.

You couldn't get Mega Latios or Latias through normal gameplay either until ORAS was released and both of their Mega Stones you can get in-game.

And I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just pointing out that Floette-E is not like the Mythical Pokemon so it doesn't have to follow what is done with them.

Nintendo and game freak never intend people to actually know what's going on. These leak websites and hackers are doing things which they arent even suppossed to be doing!

That's because the mega Latis are in-game event mons. Kind of like how every non-mythical legendary Pokemon (and Deoxys) are available through an in-game event.

I get that you mean to say that Floette-E could possibly be an in-game event mon in the next games, since at this point she's kind of up in the air, but I don't really see how the Latis qualify that argument.

Because before ORAS came out we didn't know Latiasite and Latiosite were in-game events.

Plot twist: there will be no Pokémon Z, and XY/ORAS are just getting new Zygarde form patches.

That would suck.

It also wouldn't make any financial sense. Why would Game Freak add free/cheap content to an already-sold product, when the content could be used as a selling point for a new product at full price?
