Tomohawk, Cyclohm, Mollux? ...what Tomohawk, Cyclohm, and Mollux?

Beats up a bunch of defensive checks to this Arghonaut set so it can set up. EVs look really wonky, but there's are a few reasons: 52 Spe lets Landorus-T escape 0 Spe CM Naviathan, 248 HP / 28 SpD lets Landorus-T live an HP Ice from Tapu Koko from full, 44 Atk guarantees the OHKO on defensive Tomohawk with Supersonic Skystrike, and the rest is dumped into Defense with an Impish nature to maximize its physical bulk. Also sets up rocks so that Arghonaut can wear down the opposing team more. Landorus-T also lures in Syclant, which Arghonaut loves to set up against. The core has trouble against certain Water-types like Tapu Fini, Rotom-W, etc. but that can be fixed with a Mega Venusaur or something.

Let me preface this by saying that I feel this is a poorly designed set. Aside from the issue of Bulk Up Argho being worse than Recover Argho (and we really ought to allow them together now, a la Belly Jet Azumarill), the coverage of Waterfall/Drain Punch is painfully bad in CAP. This set is using max Attack instead of SpD, as would be more customary for Bulk Up sets, because it intends to hit things hard from the get-go. However, this is impossible because of the *sheer number* of Pokemon that hard counter this set due to the lack of coverage. To give you an idea:

Waterfall against 0 HP/4 Def Tapu Koko: 51.6 - 61.2%
Koko's Life Orb Thunderbolt against Argho: 111.8 - 132.6%

Waterfall against offensive Tomohawk: 39.6 - 47%
Hurricane from offensive Tomohawk: 113 - 133.8%

Waterfall against defensive Tomohawk: 26.3 - 31.1%
Air Slash from defensive Tomohawk: 43.9 - 52.1%

Waterfall against defensive Pyroak: 20.3 - 23.9%
Giga Drain from defensive Pyroak: 37.6 - 44.9%

+1 Knock Off vs SpD Mollux: 45.9 - 54% The second +1 Knock Off does only 30.7 - 36.2%, so Mollux can spam Recover while using Lava Plume to fish for a Burn. Mollux will win this most of the time.

Waterfall against defensive Tapu Fini: 20.1 - 23.6%
Moonblast from defensive Tapu Fini: 47.8 - 56.5%

Waterfall against 40 HP/0 Def Tapu Bulu: 28.8 - 34.3%
Wood Hammer from Tapu Bulu: 162.8 - 191.7%

Drain Punch against 248 HP/212+ Def Cyclohm 28.1 - 33.6%
Discharge from Cyclohm: 45.4 - 54.1%

Knock Off against 248 HP/0 Def Mega Venusaur: 21.7 - 25.8%
Giga Drain from 0 SpA Mega Venusaur: 46.3 - 55%

Drain Punch against LO Krilowatt: 35.1 - 41.4%
Life Orb Thunderbolt from Krilowatt: 68.3 - 80.9%

Many of these matchups would go significantly better with a moveset of

--Waterfall/Drain Punch
--Gunk Shot/Thunder Punch
--Earthquake
--Bulk Up

Gunk Shot would completely eliminate the Tapus and to a lesser extent Pyroak as counters, which would help a ton for this set's viability. Earthquake would help a lot against Mollux and Krilowatt and a little against Cyclohm (it's impractical to speed creep Cyclohm, which could very well be speed creeping things like Tapu Fini and Tomohawk).

That being said, the best partner for Arghonaut, as listed here, is unquestionably Heatran. It hard checks or outright counters a bunch of Pokemon on Argho's counter list, and lures and destroys others.

Heatran @ Grassium Z
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Solar Beam

Heatran resists Air Slash, though its odds of threatening defensive Tomohawk out are unfortunate, since Magma Storm does 47.3 - 56% (a 25.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery) and Tomohawk to spam Roost to fish for misses. It's still a good pivot against defensive Tomohawk.

Heatran 4x resists Grass and threatens out Bulu (unless it switches in on Superpower), Mega Venusaur (without Earthquake), etc.

Heatran lures bulky Waters, most notably Tapu Fini, trapping with Magma Storm and destroying it with Bloom Doom.

For Recover Arghonaut, Pyroak is arguably a better partner. But for Bulk Up Arghonaut, Heatran is practically mandatory.

The nice point about Arghonaut is that it either has Recover if not BU or Drain Punch if BU (granted it appreciate both DP, BU, and Recover on the same set, but at this point that's how it is), so I'd run Drain Punch somewhere on there. 0 SpA doesn't really do much except make the importable a line longer.

In addition to everything reachzero mentioned in his post, if you take Arghonaut's coverage into account (fighting/poison/ground), having something that can destroy Skarmory and bait Landorus-T really helps give Arghonaut an actual shot at sweeping. The other two submissions lean towards being just generically good Pokemon rather than something that pairs really well with Arghonaut.

For Week 7 we'll be partnering...

Choice Scarf Kitsunoh! Being able to outspeed and throw off a quick U-Turn has been helpful in almost every tier played. Steel / Ghost STABs allow it to hit with nice coverage while potentially gaining flinches or Defense drops. However, 80 / 85 / 80 bulk isn't the greatest and leads it to get worn down by resisted attacks. One of my favorite CAP Mons, let's see if y'all can partner it!

Kitsunoh @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 0 SpA
- Iron Head
- Shadow Strike
- U-turn
- Trick

Submitting Ends Monday 10 PM EST (GMT -5)

Aurumoth @ Firium Z
Ability: Illusion
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Psychic
- Overheat

Any Illusion Aurumoth loves to have a free switch in, whether that comes from a U-Turn on a switch-in, or even a switch into a fainted mon. Kitsunoh can provide both of these things. Just have Kitsunoh switch into either a mon that he can easily force a switch with, and U-Turn against it, or have him die to a Pokemon that is very strong or very weak to whoever Aurumoth is Illusioned as. An example being throwing Kit in against a Landorus while Auru is disguised as a Crucibelle. Kit goes down to Earthquake, and in comes a desperate Crucibelle who hopes its Wood Hammer or Head Smash can OHKO Lando. Oddly enough, Lando goes first, popping off another 4x super effective EQ, only to see it be resisted. Suddenly, an Auru is Quiver Dancing in your face, and almost instantly turns into a meat grinder for you to sacrifice your team to, one-by-one. And it's all thanks to Kitsunoh's late-game sac.
Kitsunoh also clears out, or at least heavily damages, some of the things that can counter QD'd Auru. Timid Scarf Tapu Lele, who outspeeds all +1 Aurumoths, doesn't outspeed Scarf Kitsunoh, but thinks it does ('cause what doesn't scarf Lele outspeed??) and dies to either Meteor Mash or Shadow Strike. Krilowatt takes about 75% from 2 Shadow Strikes before it can KO back with 2 Earth Powers, weakening it enough so that Auru can break past it.
Aurumoth also helps Kitsunoh, as well, breaking down the physical walls it can hardly touch, such as Tomohawk, Skarmory, or Ferrothorn, and giving Kit the gaping holes in the opposing team it needs to do its job to perfection.

Some numbahs:

252 Atk Kitsunoh Meteor Mash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 318-374 (113.1 - 133%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Kitsunoh Shadow Strike vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 284-336 (101 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Kitsunoh Shadow Strike vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Krilowatt: 144-171 (32.4 - 38.5%) -- 98.5% chance to 3HKO

252 SpA Life Orb Krilowatt Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kitsunoh: 229-270 (76 - 89.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Life Orb Krilowatt Surf vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Aurumoth: 212-251 (58.7 - 69.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+1 252 SpA Aurumoth Psychic vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Krilowatt: 262-310 (59 - 69.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Weakened by Kit, Auru can come in and easily set up and kill.

252 SpA Aurumoth Psychic vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Tomohawk: 330-390 (79.7 - 94.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
But usually, don't set up until after Tomo's dead. 'Cause Haze exists.

252 SpA Aurumoth Inferno Overdrive (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 526-620 (157.4 - 185.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Aurumoth Inferno Overdrive (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 152 SpD Ferrothorn: 612-720 (173.8 - 204.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
RIP

Stratagem @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
-Paleo Wave
-Earth Power
-Energy Ball
-Fire Blast

Stratagem offers for Kitsunoh a great immunity to Ground Type moves, and a surefire way to take them on with Energy Ball. Stratagem also helps out against Pokemon such as Syclant, Ferrothorn, Celesteela, and Cawmadore, along with others. In return, Kitsunoh can switch into Fighting-type moves for it, and can beat up stuff like Kerfluffle. TrickScarf tactics are also very helpful, as it can severly cripple special walls for Stratagem.

Tapu Koko @ Life Orb
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 29 HP
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Volt Switch
- U-turn
Pairing a super fast momentum grabber with another super fast momentum grabber is pretty intuitive. Even with Kitsunoh's high potential for Shadow Strike drops, it still needs something to deal with physically defensive mons like Skarmory, Toxapex, Cyclohm, and Tomohawk (among others), so pairing it with a Volt Switch user is immensely helpful. Electric / Fairy STAB + a high Speed tier makes Tapu Koko an excellent choice. The set is STABs + VoltTurn, pretty simple. U-turn ensures Tapu Koko can escape duggy. This Tapu Koko set can't really touch Chansey, and Kitsunoh is conveniently immune to everything Chansey runs thanks to its Ghost / Steel typing and Limber. So yup, here's your fast VoltTurn core.
252 SpA Life Orb Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory in Electric Terrain: 616-728 (184.4 - 217.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 24 SpD Toxapex in Electric Terrain: 338-400 (111.1 - 131.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Tapu Koko Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Cyclohm: 369-437 (87.8 - 104%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Life Orb Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Tomohawk in Electric Terrain: 554-655 (133.8 - 158.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Kerfluffle @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Aura Sphere / Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Parting Shot
So, first of all, Kit struggles with a couple of mons such as Colo, Cyclohm and Tomo, all of which it draws in (especially the latter two I guess). All of the above are also prime opportunities for Kit to U-Turn to Kerfluffle for it to blast off one of its powerful Moonblasts. Alternatively, these also provide an opportunity for Kerf to click Parting Shot on a predicted switch and keep the VoltTurn chain going.

On the other hand, Kerf draws in bulky Psychic- and Fairy-types, all of which can be taken advantage of with Kit's STABs. Kit's Steel typing also allows it to pivot into Kerf's Flying and Poison weaknesses in a pinch, perhaps less so for the latter since Poison is usually seen on stuff like Mollux and Plasmanta which threaten Kit with their other STABs. Speaking of Mollux and Plasmanta, Kit's Steel STAB frees up one of Kerf's moveslots and lets it run HP Ground over Sludge Wave for it to chunk those 4x weaks.
