I think Team Rocket were buying souvenirs when they realized they were late for their plane, and it looks like while running they dropped something: a Lunatone and Solrock trinket.
AND that's why Lunatone and Solrock aren't in Sun & Moon: Team Rocket dropped them.

Jokes aside, this was adorable to watch. So subtle and endearing that I just can't imagine a more perfect way to end Serena's story. XY&Z was indeed an incredible season imo.

Oh, so they did kiss. I saw the screenshots on Serebii and was wondering if the scene focusing on their feet after Serena ran up the escalator meant they kissed.
At least on Serena's side (which it has always been). Remember Ash is essentially asexual (at least that's how they made him) so he probably takes Serena's kiss as her way of saying goodbye (note he looks more confused than anything and wasn't blushing like everyone else was). Still, of the girls who showed interest in Ash she is tied with being "furthest" to do anything thanks to that kiss. Yes, "tied". Did you forget about Latias (and I'm pretty sure it was Latias as Bianca showed no interest in Ash)? :P Also I don't count Melody as she was mainly doing it out of duty and to annoy Misty (plus it wasn't on the lips).

And they part ways thinking about their times specifically with each other when they each are travelling back to another region (Hoenn in Serena's case, back to Kanto in Ash's case). Of course, this doesn't make the ship double-sided canon (not at all), but it's clear at this point that Serena was written to be a very close friend to Ash...someone particularly closer to him than his other companions.
Ash is not old enough to be essentially into romance yet, so he's far from into love or having romantic feelings. However, I think it's clear from what we've seen that he sees her as a very dear friend, and the two are essentially very, very close and share a very strong bond. So they have a very close friendship and it's clear both sides cherish their time together with each other, and always will. So in a way, they share a strong friendship that will last and stand out as a very special one to both sides. Ash has strong confidence in her as well. So the way this ended, they're definitely very dear friends.

I disagree. Melody & Bianca both kissed him on his cheek, whereas Serena probably kissed him on his lips; hence why it was off-screened and, albeit heavily implied, left up in the air what actually happened. Big difference right there, me thinks.
Some of the supposed Easter Eggs around it made me laugh when I realised. Serena's flight was Latias H71 where #71 in the Hoenn Pokedex is Mawile, which is based on a mouth. A rough translation could be taken as Latias...with the mouth.
My favourite one was Ash's flight was K91, which the 91st Pokemon the Kanto Pokedex is Cloyster which looks a bit like...well you know.

Whoa! They actually kissed, I mean lots of people are saying they didn't but it actually feels good to see them kiss, especially for Serena.
PS : Pikachu still stole the show. Sometimes it makes me wonder if pikachu is more sensitive to these stuff lol.

It is. Pikachu on several occasions shows is understands romance, at least better than Ash does.
Implying there could be anyone that cannot be more sensitive to that stuff than Ash.

Yeah, it's pretty annoying they made Ash that passive to all the romantic stuff. I mean I get the whole determination thing he has going on, but him liking a few girls in b/w only makes him relatable tbh. Even when Serena "kissed" him, he was like "Wtf", and after a while he was back to "Goodbye Serena".
Writers could have written the scene a tad bit funnier like Bonnie saying " Eww" or Clemont teasing him, considering this was his first "serious kiss".

Why would Bonnie say "ewww" considering she is upbeat and precocious, Clemont is bro tier he won't tease about it, if anything he was as shocked as dedenne.
Those two things will be more off character than fangames making Roxie a junkie. Consistency is better given that the kalos 4 where a big Happy family when compared to bickering original trio, mamá goose Misty and occasional gag Brock in johto, unfunny max decent Brock and OK at best May in Hoenn, bland as fuck Brock and screenhog Dawn in DP or wathever the hell they tried to pull in Unova , I give that Cilan did got some laughs out of me.
I loved the happy go no tease or bickering life of the kalos quartet.
It's sad to see the end of Xyz, as it probably will be known as the best installment in the series barring the original for some people. Serena, Clemont and Bonnie were great companions and overall it was fantastic from start to finish.
On a side note, I recently remembered how in the Diancie movie, the character with a Greninja and then the character with a Delphox ended up as a couple. Funny enough Ash and Serena have the same starters and look what happened ;) (Really glad they added a kiss in the final episode).
As for the future, Sun and Moon's gonna be weird (especially with the animation), BUT there should be at least 2 episodes we can look forward to, both of which revolving around the previous gen characters. In BW, we got an episode of Dawn getting her Quilava, and we got Brock (might've been his brother) facing a Nurse Joy with Latias. In XY, we had Iris battle Clair and then Cilan meet up with Brock. So I feel rather confident that we'll get to see Serena and Clemont and Bonnie at least 1 more time. Hopefully the animation doesn't ruin those episodes, but it'll be interesting when they do come around.
Finally, I think in the demo, they mentioned something about being 11 years old to start doing trials or something along those lines? That could mean that Ash might finally be 11 and that Serena broke his curse with that kiss :D

Yeah, meeting again with Serena would be interesting, I mean if they don't just forget they kissed last time. Actually the series it self was pretty good, only qualms I personally will have would be that neither braixen or chespin evolved fully, nor did bunnelby. I get the cute appeal of chespin but braixen should have evolved :/.

Rotomdex looks to have a speaking quirk saying "roto" at the end of each sentence, can't recall whether that's something they showed in the games or not.

No, I don't think so. But it could be an anime-only holdover of the "Pokemon-speak" since this is still a Rotom at its core. Just like how Meowth would use its name as a verbal tic sometimes despite being able to speak
