[SET COMMENTS]

Gengar's strong utility movepool allows it to potentially take on a longer term approach, spreading a variety of status options to wear down checks such as Gastrodon and Tyranitar and using Hex for strong damage without item-based downsides. Gengar's movepool when running Hex sets is fairly flexible based on its team. It can spread status very well with Will-O-Wisp + Sludge Bomb, but Toxic Spikes can also let it help wear down its own future switch-ins, like Gastrodon, or Pokemon such as Scream Tail and Wo-Chien as they switch into its teammates. Focus Blast can be a good option to avoid letting Tyranitar switch in freely, while Substitute lets Gengar punish switches it forces against Pokemon like Wo-Chien to provide free turns and protect itself from revenge killers. Will-O-Wisp should preferably not be dropped to run a combination of these other moves, as it is fantastic for crippling Tinkaton and Tyranitar and can ensure an immediate status against Heavy-Duty Boots Gastrodon too. Tera Ghost lets Gengar significantly power up its Hex to pressure Pokemon like Gastrodon even more while removing its Ground weakness, but Gengar is often not a priority Terastallization user.

This set fits best on bulkier teams that like to take their time wearing down the opposing team. Quagsire is an excellent teammate for this set, as it can threaten Tyranitar and Grafaiai while also spreading Toxic and entry hazards in order to wear down other Pokemon, such as Gastrodon and TInkaton. Teammates such as Wo-Chien and Cyclizar that can remove Heavy-Duty Boots from foes like Gastrodon, Wo-Chien, and Sandy Shocks are highly appreciated if Gengar is running Toxic Spikes. Wo-Chien can also help check Pokemon such as Greninja and Sandy Shocks for Gengar, while Cyclizar can help keep entry hazards off Gengar's side without removing its Toxic Spikes and give it switch-in opportunities against Decideueye and Slither Wing with U-turn. Gengar also appreciates defensive support against Pokemon such as Noivern, Scizor, and Talonflame, so teammates like Gastrodon and Talonflame are valuable. Offensive teammates, such as Pawmot and Tyranitar, appreciate Gengar's Toxic Spikes support to pressure checks like Hippowdon. Espeon can help check Gastrodon and deny it from setting Spikes against Gengar; it can also wear down Tinkaton, and it appreciates Toxic Spikes to prevent Pokemon like Scream Tail from checking it. Tinkaton can check Noivern, provide Stealth Rock, and use Knock Off to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from Gastrodon and Slowbro. Sandy Shocks can provide Spikes to help pressure switch-ins like Tinkaton, and it can offer entry points against Decideueye and Wo-Chien with Volt Switch. In return, it appreciates Gengar pressuring Gastrodon.

Gengar has a ton of sheer power that can be threatening to many teams. think id probably reword to mention how its being given that extra power through status and hex + flexibility in switching moves for specification, bc as is it sounds like filler This set takes advantage of that power in order to cripple opposing Pokemon in order to break them easier, or hinder their attacks. Hex doubles in power when a Pokemon has a status condition making it a lot stronger of an option over Shadow Ball when met with the right conditions. filler + dex info Spreading status can be easily achieved through Sludge Bomb/Toxic Spikes/Will-O-Wisp separate these with commas and "and" instead which can help Gengar push through bulkier teams a lot easier. Toxic Spikes and Will-O-Wisp are interchangeable in the last slot as both achieve positive results for Gengar. Toxic Spikes spreads has the chance to spread more status throughout a team, but can be soaked up by Poison-types and be ignored by Flying-types there arent really many relevant base poison types besides gengar; this kinda makes the move sound more negative than it is. where as Will-O-Wisp is excellent for Tinkaton and Bisharp switch-ins, but can be less effective against bulkier Pokemon. mention the pokemon that both are able to cripple; gastro and ttar are good examples Focus Blast is Gengar's go to coverage move in order to threaten Bisharp and Grafaiai from switching in, but can be replaced with Substitute for an easier time sweeping or setting up status conditions, but it should only be ran with Will-O-Wisp to not be left completely helpless against Bisharp.

+ add in mentions of tera ghost and fairy; tera ghost gives you significantly more power and fairy gives you a sucker punch resistance

This set is best fit on more bulkier teams that like to take their time wearing down the opponent. Quagsire is an excellent teammate for this set as it can threaten Bisharp and Grafaiai while also spreading Toxic and entry hazards in order to ware down other Pokemon like? tinkaton works here imo as well. Knock Off is also an important supportive move to have for this set, as less Pokemon with heavy-duty boots capitalize allows Toxic Spikes to spread more. Wo-Chien is a great team option as it can Knock Off opposing Pokemon while also being able to take Dark-type and Ground-type moves instead of listing type chart stuff, mention the specific pokemon you lose to or are threatened out by that wo chien helps with. i would also shift the focus on wo chien from knock support to beating those same mons, because its knock targets arent really affected by tspikes that would threaten Gengar. Gengar can also be threatened by faster Pokemon like Weavile, Noivern, or Bullet Punch Scizor, making partners like Bisharp think id mention tyranitar instead, its a lot better vs noiv especially if spdef and Talonflame good options in order to take their attacks while also stopping the rare defogger with Defiant and Taunt respectively.

+ mention tinkaton in the knock section instead of wo-chien, helps a lot vs boots gastro, slowking, etc
+ mention pivots like tsareena and shocks giving it free entry against grasses and letting it set up tspikes for free; shocks also appreciates gastro being worn down

Gengar's strong utility movepool allows it to potentially take on a longer term approach, (AC) through spreading a variety of status options to wear down checks such as Gastrodon and Tyranitar and utilise using Hex for strong damage without item-based (AH) downsides. Gengar's movepool when running Hex sets is fairly flexible based on its team. Focus Blast can be a good option when Gengar's team doesn't appreciate giving Tyranitar plenty of switch-ins to avoid letting Tyranitar switch in freely (I imagine?), while Substitute lets Gengar punish switches it forces against Pokemon like Wo-Chien to provide free turns and protect itself from revenge killers. Will-O-Wisp should preferably not be dropped to run a combination of these other moves, as it is fantastic for crippling Tinkaton and Tyranitar and can ensure an immediate status against Heavy-Duty Boots Gastrodon too.
