[GHOST] Leader Zarator vs Challenger Geodude6

VSShauntal.png

"The tiny but strong Pokémon looked up at its Trainer and saw the seeds of doubt taking root as together they faced their toughest opponent yet. The Pokémon sounded a soft cry of reassurance, and the battle began...". That was part of a novel I wrote. I absolutely love writing about the close bonds between the Trainers who come here and the Pokémon they train. Could I use you and your Pokémon as a subject?

Arena: The Forlorn Graveyard
Restrictions: None

People have stopped burying people in this abandoned graveyard for centuries, but there is still an eerie aura all over the place. The grass looks more grey than green (despite this not affecting Grass-type moves at all), and most Pokemon and people avoid the place instinctively. Some trainers however still visit this place to strengthen the link with their Pokemon, especially Ghost-type ones. A still lake formed in a fissure in the ground, however the dark water makes it impossible to see what lies in its depths

The odd aura of this graveyard has several effects in battle:
  • Focus Blast has 100% accuracy, and the base power of Aura Sphere and Hidden Power is raised by (2). It is very easy to focus oneself's soul in this place.
  • Will-O-Wisp has 100% accuracy. There are always wisps floating around to provide decent enough fodder for this wicked spell.
  • Pain Split has its base energy cost reduced by (2), and all draining attacks are empowered as if the Pokemon were holding Big Root, but without incurring the extra energy cost (this effect doesn't stack with Big Root itself). Life energies are easier to drain and consume in this place.
  • All Pokemon's max HP are reduced to 90. The aura of sorrow which permeates this place withers the strength and the resolve of all the Pokemon battling in its surroundings - even Ghost-types.
  • There are some leftover scrap parts, scattered around the arena. Rotom can tap into them, raising its Special Attack and Special Defense by 1 rank as long as it stays in its original form (without any appliance).

The Gym Leader Zarator, is tasteful, consistent and is an honorable Leader. He runs the Raid Zone almost single-handedly and loves to thrill his audience. The master of ghosts, whose way with music and words have made quite an impact in the Community [!! Scarrry !!]. The proud owner of 30 maxed pokemon, the second most in all of ASB (Only behind our beloved Fairy Gym Leader), which is one of the reasons why people fear his Arsenal of Ghosts. He has brought a varied team today to test the challenger's will; Grumbar the Golurk, Jergal the Dusknoir and Cyric the Gengar all have the potential to snatch him a victory today. However; Despite his powerful Generals of war by his side, he should not take the challenger lightly. Who has improved a great deal since their last encounter. And, would have to tread cautiously against this sneaky wielder of the Dark types, to defend his honor, to defend his pride, and to show him once again the meaning of 'true fear'.

Our challenger today, the apparating Dark Gym Leader, has been winning quite a few challenges recently, and has improved himself considerably. He thinks of himself as a person suffering from Autism. Which everyone else in the community, think of as, total BS! Personally I feel that, there is something wrong with him. But it is definitely not Autism :p
He has brought with him today, two of the most feared pokemon from his Gym. Hanako, The dreaded Skill Frog / Ninja; And Dan the female Drapion. He has also trusted in his old mate, Furialgon the Braviary to bring home a victory for him. But all said and done, it would be how the players battle with these powerful and potentially dangerous mons that will decide today's battle.

Gym Leader Shauntal sends out Ibrandul (Sableye M)!
Ibrandul has Prankster!
Ibrandul holds Everstone!

Knock Off - Thunder Punch - Ice Punch
If Braviary uses a damaging evasive move, replace your respective action with Counter and push your actions back.
If Braviary uses Substitute and you don't have a Substitute up, replace your respective action with Snatch and push your actions back.

Geodude6, this is your first and last warning to choose an ability while sending out. This is a One Ability battle, and please make a note of the fact that an ability would be RNG'd henceforth if you do not specify an ability.

I assume zarator's orders were made with the assumption of Sheer Force being the ability since that's kind of Braviary's whole shtick (though please correct me if I'm wrong)

  • Will-O-Wisp has 100% accuracy. There are always wisps floating around to provide decent enough fodder for this wicked spell.

Round 1: The Plan Fails!
Geodude tried to get one of the five pokemon in Zarator's bench to come out, and thus to be able to get a favourable match up, However his plan failed!

The Gym Leader's plan of Knocking off Furialgon's Life Orb was stopped by a protect and the Challenger's plan of getting a favorable match up was spoiled by hax. With the challenger ordering first the next round, will he be switching his pokemon out to continue his plan? Or order first against a Sableye?

  • Focus Blast has 100% accuracy, and the base power of Aura Sphere and Hidden Power is raised by (2). It is very easy to focus one-self's soul in this place.

Round 2: How to handle Skill Frog with Skill:
Zarator makes Ibrandul survive the round, knock off the challenger's precious item and split the pain between them. Making Ibrandul ready for more action next round!

So this time the Gym Leader gets rid of the Challenger's Precious Item and makes sure that his pokemon is at a decent health to face the next round. Although ordering first against a Skill Frog is tough, I am sure that the Gym Leader has a few plans up his sleeve.

Gale Wing Srock: did you account for Pain Split's reduced energy cost because of arena, last round?

"This could be a crucial turning point"

Will-O-Wisp - Pain Split - Pain Split

If Greninja uses U-turn on A1 or A2, replace your respective action with Protect (the first time) or Fake Out (the second time), and push your actions back.
If Greninja uses a damaging evasive move, replace your respective action with Recover (the first time) or Counter (any further time), and push your actions back.

*I think so Zarator, although if I have missed something out. Let me know if you would like a reorder.

Round 4: Enter the Hero!
Cyric descends down from the ceiling and crushes the Ninja with the power of his Focused Soul.

As Ibrandul falls, it starts to rain outside the Gym and the protagonist slowly decsends down the Arena. Cyric sees his buddy on the floor as he descends; and observes Gym Leader Shauntal's saddened face, as she draws out Ibrandul's pokeball to give him a well deserved rest.

Cyric turns his attention on Hanako and vows to blast her out of the Arena floor. Cyric creates a deception to confuse the Ninja and to play with her mind. He then, focuses all his soul's energy into a Ball and fires it at the Ninja; who was trying to send a pulse of dark energy towards Cyric. Cyric took the dark energy like a boss, turned around and sent a powerful blast towards the ninja who stood no chance against the might of the Hero and flew towards the arena wall in full force; where she was swatted against the wall, like a crushed amphibian in a highway, and fell back flat on the ground.

Thunderbolt - Thunder - Thunderbolt
If Braviary uses a damaging evasive move and you're slower, replace your respective action with Thunder and push your actions back.
If Braviary uses Tailwind, replace your respective action with Snatch and push your actions back. Do not play this substitution more than once.
