[OVERVIEW]

Glastrier's immense Attack stat, backed up by a good STAB move and extremely useful coverage options, makes it capable of breaking through most foes. Its bulk is nothing to sneeze at either, and it can create extremely tanky Substitutes to protect itself from status and weaker hits from the likes of Vileplume and Vaporeon. Glastrier's two main problems are its poor defensive typing and very low Speed; these leave it vulnerable to the powerful STAB moves and coverage attacks of most other wallbreakers such as Sirfetch'd and Exploud, so its defensive utility is less than it appears on paper. Glastrier is also unable to make progress against certain answers such as Diamond Storm Diancie, Quagsire, and Arcanine without a lot of support. Worse yet, other stallbreakers like Salazzle and Growth Vileplume boast superior typings and Speed, so it is hard to justify Glastrier on teams given it offers little in comparison.

Glastrier should use Substitute on forced switches or in front of passive Pokemon; the given EV spread allows Glastrier to make beefy 101 HP Substitutes that Vaporeon's Scald won't break. The EV spread also allows it to outspeed Vaporeon and other uninvested walls such as Guzzlord and Vileplume. Close Combat is the overall best coverage move available, blasting through Steel-types like Copperajah and Escavalier and hitting Water-types like Vaporeon for good neutral damage.

Partners like Talonflame and Passimian easily draw in targets like Vaporeon and Mudsdale for Glastrier to safely set up versus; their status moves and Knock Off support, respectively, give Glastrier an easier time breaking through foes and performing a late-game sweep. Vaporeon is an excellent partner, protecting Glastrier from Fire-type attacks and passing Wishes to augment its stellar bulk. In return, Glastrier can take advantage of Pokemon that like to switch into Vaporeon like Vileplume. Glastrier is threatened by Fighting-types, so partners like Garbodor, Talonflame, and Xatu are appreciated; the latter two also provide entry hazard control.

Iron Defense + Body Press is another way to sweep and is better versus Mudsdale and Copperajah in exchange for being worse versus Sylveon and Vileplume. Glastrier can run a brutal Choice Band set to immediately pressure the opposition; however, such a set is very prone to getting forced out due to Glastrier's low Speed and common weaknesses as an Ice-type. Offensive sets can drop Substitute for an extra attack, making Glastrier very hard to wall, but losing Substitute makes Glastrier more vulnerable to status and revenge killers. Taunt can be used to deny the recovery and utility moves of Pokemon like Quagsire at the cost of setting up. Endure + Custap Berry can also be used over Substitute for a surprise KO versus revenge killers. High Horsepower provides coverage for Doublade, Salazzle, and Arcanine but is otherwise inferior to Close Combat.

**Rock-types**: Diancie is a huge concern for Glastrier given Diamond Storm breaks its Substitute and can increase Diancie's Defense. This attack can stop Glastrier sweeps while allowing Diancie itself to sweep with Body Press. Other Rock-types like Tyrantrum and Aerodactyl are threatening revenge killers with their STAB attacks.

**Physical Walls**: Not all walls succumb to Glastrier's boosted attacks; Unaware Quagsire especially stops all sweeps. Running into Haze Mantine, Arcanine, Doublade, or Weezing is bad news, too, given their typings and access to status moves.

**Fighting-types**: Wallbreakers like Sirfetch'd, Toxicroak, and Machamp are tough for Glastrier to deal with without a Substitute.

**Faster Wallbreakers**: Utilizing powerful STAB moves or super effective coverage, Pokemon like Goodra, Duraludon, Sylveon, and Exploud are all capable of putting decent amounts of pressure on Glastrier; the latter two even go through Substitute with their sound-based STAB attacks. Others like Salazzle and Starmie resist all of Glastrier's moves if it opts for Close Combat.

**Residual Damage and Status Ailments**: All entry hazards wear down Glastrier, making it harder to rely on its bulk to beat revenge killers. Similarly, being inflicted with status makes sweeping nigh impossible.

[OVERVIEW]

Glastrier's is a behemoth. Its immense Attack stat is backed up by good STABs and extremely useful boosting and coverage options capable of crashing through most opponents (First was fluff, "STABs" is misleading if its just Icicle Crash really, and mentioning Glas as a setup sweeper should be mandatory in the overview). Its bulk is nothing to sneeze at either, and it can create extremely tanky Substitutes to protect itself from status and weaker hits from Vaporeon and Vileplume. Glastrier's stat distribution and movepool makes it a diverse attacker capable of pressuring the opposition with either its Attack or Defense with Swords Dance or Iron Defense + Body Press, respectively. However, Glastrier still has a fair share of flaws. (Fluff) Glastrier has a poor defensive Ice typing and a very low Speed; these two factors leave Glastrier vulnerable to the powerful STABs attacks or coverage of most other wallbreakers like Sirfetch'd and Exploud, so its effective bulk is lower than it appears on paper. (Mention that it is countered by Diancie, Arcanine, and Unaware Quagsire, making it impossible to make progress against these walls if they're still around and healthy)

Glastrier should use Substitute on forced switches or in front of passive Pokemon; the given EV spread allows Glastrier to make beefy 101 HP Substitutes and outspeed uninvested Pokemon walls such as Vaporeon and Guzzlord. From behind a Substitute, Swords Dance is used to boost Glastrier's Attack to extremely threatening levels. (Fluff) Close Combat is the overall best coverage available, blasting through Steel-types like Copperajah and offering good neutral hits on Water-types like Vaporeon. High Horsepower is a less powerful option that can be used to hit Steel-types and offering more power against Fire-types like Arcanine without sustaining defensive drops.

While Substitute can help break through bulky Water-types like Vaporeon, Glastrier will still appreciate Pokemon that can tack damage on them beforehand, so partners like Celebi and Vileplume are welcome; these partners appreciate Glastrier's ability to break through Steel-types with Close Combat (This first point feels off; Sub Glas will outright beat Vap and Celebi + plume aren't likely to get chip damage vs Vap anyways because it'll just switch out. It would be more helpful to include something like: "teammates like Salazzle, Drapion, and Bronzong deter bulky Water-types like Unaware Quagsire and Roar Vaporeon with status and Knock Off, so it's more likely Glastrier can sweep late-game." These teammates are more likely to actually wear down these walls and help Glas with sweeping, whereas Grass-types only use the Water-types to make general progress against switch-ins) . Vaporeon is an excellent partner, protecting Glastrier from Fire attacks and passing Wishes to augment Glastrier's stellar bulk; in return, Glastrier will effectively start cracking through the opposition (Fluff; too general. What Vaporeon checks does Glastrier setup on or revenge kill?). Glastrier is threatened by Fighting-types, so partners like Garbodor, Talonflame, and Xatu are appreciated; the latter two are also effective hazard control for Glastrier, as it opts for Leftovers instead of Heavy-Duty Boots. While users of the move are rare, Healing Wish can give Glastrier a second wind to punch holes if it becomes too damaged to operate further. (Too niche. If anything, you can write "offensive support from Healing Wish Celebi and dual screens Xatu caters to Glastrier's immense bulk and supplements sweeping opportunities," and that will show the HO side of the teammates section.)

Glastrier should use Substitute to leverage its extreme bulk against uninvested attackers and on anticipated switches. Iron Defense further improves the durability of Substitute against opponents such as Mudsdale and Bronzong, and is the main boosting option for Body Press. Icicle Crash is a useful STAB move that can be used to hit certain targets that resist Body Press, such as Vileplume and Dragalge. Dark coverage moves can also be used to hit the Ghost-types that block Body Press; Throat Chop has the added utility of nulling Sylveon's Hyper Voice, while Crunch's occasional Defense drops help break through Jellicent more easily. (Remove the Crunch + Jellicent portions because Jelli is UR and Throat Chop is fine alone)

Because of their ability to run moves such as Taunt Unaware, Haze, or Roar, bulky Water-types like Jellicent, Qwilfish Quagsire, Mantine, and Vaporeon will all trouble Glastrier; partners like Rotom-C, Heliolisk, and Celebi are effective for taking them on. Ghost-types in general will dodge Body Press, so Dark-types like Guzzlord are appreciated to punish them (not wrong, but Glas destroys Golurk / Decid / Dhel with Icicle Crash and walls them all + SivGhost and minus specs Decid with Iron Defense. Thus, I don't think this point is worth including, especially in comparison to what else could be said; see below). Bulky Fairy-types like Sylveon won't be broken even with boosted Body Press, so offensive Steel-types like Copperajah are effective picks to take advantage of them. (Also include Heatproof Bronzong as it's a great partner to take on Salazzle and Exploud) (Try to include another point relative to teammates that tank its weaknesses, wear down walls that resist Body Press, or pivots into targets vulnerable to iron defense + sub walling)

Glastrier can run a brutal Choice Band set to immediately pressure the opposition; however, such a set is very prone to being forced out due to Glastrier's low speed and weaknesses as an Ice-type. Offensive sets can drop Substitute for an extra attack, making Glastrier very specific to wall; however, losing Substitute makes revenge options against Glastrier much more broad, and leaves Glastrier prone to Toxic, Will-O-Wisp, or Scald burns.

Icicle Spear can be used to poke through Focus Sash on the likes of Aerodactyl; otherwise, the move is generally less useful than Icicle Crash. Taunt can be used to deny the recovery or other moves of Pokemon like Vaporeon or Bronzong; however, Glastrier struggles to fit the move into an effective set.

Chople Berry can serve as an extra life against Fighting moves, helping Glastrier land a surprise KO against Fighting-types if Glastrier is healthy enough; Endure can be used with Custap Berry to a similar effect.

Checks and Counters
====

**Fighting-types**: While Glastrier's sheer bulk and the occasional Chople Berry can protect it from a OHKO, Fighting-types like Sirfetch'd and Machamp outspeed Glastrier and pressure it with their Fighting STAB attacks.

**Rock-types**: While Diancie needs significant Speed investment to consistently outrun Glastrier, and both Aerodactyl and Tyrantrum fear Glastrier's attacks, viable Rock-types are all capable of pressuring Glastrier with their STAB attacks and other moves. (Fast diancie is very common place. Rewrite this to include how Diancie often outspeeds and breaks Glastrier's Sub with Diamond Storm, which in turn can create Defense boosts to power up Body Press and force out Glas.

**Fire-types**: While they do have to watch out for High Horsepower, Fire-types like Arcanine and Salazzle can deal big damage with their Fire STAB attacks or annoy it with Will-o-Wisp and Toxic if Glastrier isn't behind Substitute.

**Bulky Water-types**: While Glastrier has avenues to potentially muscle past them, Water-types like Vaporeon, Jellicent, and others can thwart Glastrier's efforts with moves like Taunt or Haze. (See above, remove URs)

**Faster Wallbreakers**: Utilizing powerful STAB or super effective coverage, middling-Speed Pokemon like Goodra, Braviary, Sylveon, and Exploud are all capable of putting decent amounts of pressure on Glastrier; the latter two even go through Substitute with their sound-based STAB attacks.

QC 1/2! Remember that it is "STAB attacks" and not "STABs." Also watch for blanket fluff statements as we want each point to have specific substance to the mon. A couple points also could be a bit more directed to sweeping / setting up, but other than that good job!

Hoo boy, there was a lot to unpack in here. Meta's changed a lot since the time Jellicent and Qwilfish were ranked. I hope my writing's gotten better since then.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. Changing to Q/C 1/2. Let me know if I missed any corrections and I'll put them in.

Close Combat is the overall best coverage available, blasting through Steel-types like Copperajah and offering good neutral hits on Water-types like Vaporeon. (Again, note what the EV spread does down here just because we can't assume the reader will have learned that from the previous set.)

Because of Unaware, Haze, or Roar, bulky Water-types like Quagsire and Vaporeon (Vaporeon seldom runs Roar nowadays, and because this set has EVs to match better against it, I'm not a fan of its mention here.) will trouble Glastrier; partners like Rotom-C, Heliolisk, and Celebi are effective for taking them on. Bulky Fairy-types like Sylveon won't be broken even with boosted Body Press, so offensive Steel-types like Copperajah are effective picks to take advantage of them. Steel-types like Assault Vest Copperajah and Heatproof Bronzong will also wall attackers like Exploud and Sylveon that blast through Substitute; the latter also helps against Salazzle. Fighting-types like Sirfetch'd threaten Glastrier, so partners like Talonflame and Garbodor are appreciated. The former can also use Defog to support Glastrier, while the latter's Spikes will help Glastrier break through the likes of Quagsire. (Does Spikes actually help at all in the Quagsire matchup? I feel like the answer is no.)

(I'd also note Choice Band sets have even worse longevity issues because no passive Leftovers recovery. The offensive sets mention here is odd because you never address those anywhere else in the analysis, so I'd first introduce them by noting how you can run offensive EV spreads with three attacks and then transition to why those sets are less successful.)

(I'd probably just gut the Chople Berry mention entirely and keep it at the Custap Berry + Endure one.)

Checks and Counters
====

**Fighting-types**: While Glastrier's sheer bulk and the occasional Chople Berry can protect it from a OHKO, Fighting-types like Sirfetch'd and Machamp outspeed Glastrier and pressure it with their Fighting STAB attacks. (Machamp is pretty irrelevant, so maybe give mention to Toxicroak instead. I'd also mention Leek Sirfetch'd as especially annoying because it can just ignore the Defense boosts from iron Defense sets.)

**Rock-types**: While both Aerodactyl and Tyrantrum fear Glastrier's attacks, viable Rock-types are all capable of pressuring Glastrier with their STAB attacks and other moves. Diancie in particular usually outruns Glastrier and threatens it with Diamond Storm; any resultant Defense boosts just make things even worse for Glastrier. (Diancie should definitely be the first mention here because it's far more relevant than either Tyrantrum or Aerodactyl.)

**Fire-types**: While they do have to watch out for High Horsepower, Fire-types like Arcanine and Salazzle can deal big damage with their Fire STAB moves or annoy it with Will-o-Wisp and Toxic if Glastrier isn't behind Substitute.

**Bulky Water-types**: While Glastrier has avenues to potentially muscle past them, Water-types like Vaporeon and Unaware Quagsire will slow down or stop Glastrier.

I updated this with the check and recent meta trends in mind. We agreed to remove the Body Press set as well due to its lower viability and extreme similarity with the other setup set. Glastrier is ready for GP, and I'll be editing the OP for mari.

**Rock-types**: Diancie is a huge concern for Glastrier given Diamond Storm breaks its Substitute and can increases increase Diancie's Defense. This attack can stop Glastrier sweeps while allowing Diancie itself to sweep itself with Body Press (this word order is a tad more clear). Other Rock-types like Tyrantrum and Aerodactyl are threatening revenge killers with their STAB attacks.

**Physical Walls**: Not all walls succumb to Glastrier's boosted attacks; Unaware Quagsire especially stops all sweeps. Running into Haze Mantine, Arcanine, Doublade, or Weezing is bad news, (add comma) too, (add comma) given their typings and access to status moves.

Others like Salazzle and Starmie may even resist all of Glastrier's coverage moves if it opts for Close Combat.

**Residual Damage and Status Ailments**: All entry hazards wear down Glastrier, making it harder to rely on its bulk to beat revenge killers. Similarly, being inflicted with status makes sweeping nigh impossible.
