[SET COMMENTS]
Wielding nigh-unparalleled Attack, immense bulk, great coverage, and Swords Dance, Glastrier is a solid physical wallbreaker in PU. STAB Icicle Crash is rare in PU and valuable for pressuring common bulky Ground- and Grass-types like Gastrodon, Gligar, and Wo-Chien, which other attackers like Paldean Tauros-F and Decidueye can struggle against. Close Combat nails Steel-types like Copperajah and Alolan Sandslash and is Glastrier's best tool against foes like Paldean Tauros-W, Milotic, and Rotom-H. High Horsepower 2HKOes both Galarian Slowbro and Bellibolt after some chip damage and also deals with Fire-types like Arcanine, Coalossal, and Delphox. Heavy-Duty Boots is the better item choice, especially on bulkier teams, allowing Glastrier to freely switch around and play at whatever pace is most comfortable for it. Glastrier can use Custap Berry on hyper offense teams to capitalize on its bulk and Stealth Rock weakness, turning the tables on an unsuspecting revenge killer like Salazzle before being KOed. However, Custap Berry requires careful maintenance of Glastrier's HP to come into play, making it less reliable than Heavy-Duty Boots. 124 Speed EVs let Glastrier move before Bellibolt and other walls such as Gastrodon and Mudsdale. Tera Poison flips Glastrier's bad matchup against Fighting-types like Flamigo and Heracross while also making it immune to Toxic from Bellibolt. However, it makes Glastrier weak to Ground-type moves, sacrificing its naturally good matchup against the likes of Gligar and Golurk. Tera Water offers Glastrier an all-around solid defensive typing that notably helps out versus Water-, Fire-, and Steel-types like Bruxish, Delphox, and Duraludon.
Glastrier's pitiful Speed, horrid defensive typing, and tendency to want to Terastallize mean that it generally has to be built around, with bulky offensive teams being the best at supporting it. That said, Glastrier can also serve as an early-game wallbreaker on certain hyper offensive teams, where its ability to shred roadblocks like Mudsdale matters more than its inherent flaws. Milotic is incredibly difficult for Glastrier to deal with, since it withstands even +2 Close Combat and can neuter Glastrier with either Haze or a Scald burn. Electric- and Grass-types like Toxtricity, Venusaur, and Brute Bonnet match up well against Milotic, with the latter two even being able to directly switch into it. These Pokemon appreciate Glastrier removing threats like Meloetta and Skuntank and gain opportunities to switch in after Choice item users, such as Flamigo and Decidueye, lock into a move to try and KO Glastrier. Tatsugiri is another option for punishing Milotic that removes entry hazards, which Glastrier benefits from if it loses its Heavy-Duty Boots or runs Custap Berry, and soft checks Fire-types like Salazzle. Pivots such as Bellibolt, Bombirdier, and Gligar are important teammates to have on bulky offense teams, allowing Glastrier to hit the field more safely and conserve as much HP as possible. While not required, Wish support from either Florges or Scream Tail helps to sustain Glastrier so it can constantly pressure defensive cores. Physical sweepers like Arcanine, Scrafty, and Choice Scarf Paldean Tauros-F have a much easier time finishing teams off with Glastrier overwhelming physical walls like Galarian Slowbro and Gligar.
