Explanation:
Here's how the Uber's stats are distributed to each team mate.

You will be able to recognize from team preview how your opponent is gifting their stats, based upon the position of their Uber.

Here's an example:
1659120670428.png

In this case, Kyogre is my Uber Pokemon and is occupying slot 2. So, because Ferrothorn is in slot 1, it will have its HP stat replaced with Kyogre's base HP of 100. Kyogre is in slot 2, so nothing receives its Atk stat. Since Clefable is in slot 3, it gets Kyogre's Def of 90. Tapu Koko in slot 4 gets Kyogre's SpA of 150. Landorus-T in slot 5 gets Kyogre's 140 SpD, and lastly, Urshifu-R in slot 6 gets Kyogres's 90 Spe. Where you place your 'God' Pokemon is extremely important in developing strong teams, so do not take this important aspect lightly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens when the God has a forme change?
The stats of the god prior to form change are what are used to gift to the other teammates. For example, Galarian Darmanitan-Z's teammates will receive the regular forme's stats and Aegislash's teammates will receive the Shield forme's stats. In addition, the Crowned formes of Zacian and Zamazenta will donate the Hero formes' stats.

What about the Gods themselves? Do they gain any stats?
No, they don't. Since they're "gifting" to themselves, their stats remain unchanged.

Won't Shedinja be broken?
Nope. Shedinja's HP is hardcoded to 1. Hazards are your friends.

What if a teammate has a forme change?
The stats will remain constant through out. For example, if Aegislash receives 100 Def then it will have 100 Def in both Shield and Blade forme.

When will X get banned?
There are certainly broken threats that may appear beyond our initial banlist thanks to the coming of a new generation, however, we don't want to ban anything outright before this has been played more. Topics on the banlist may be re-suspected but only if relevant arguments are brought up throughout discussion calling for such an action to occur. Things will be both VERY bulky and VERY strong in this meta, so you must prepare accordingly. When the time comes we can look at God bans and teammate bans, but again, please defer discussion about what needs to go until we can test it.

What if I don't have an Uber on my team?
The Pokemon in the first slot (HP slot) acts as the God Pokemon. Although this strategy isn't necessarily the most effective option, it can most certainly work to some extent thanks to Pokemon with incredibly high stats.

Is this playable anywhere?
Yes! This is playable on the main Pokemon Showdown server.

How do Zacian-C and Zamazenta-C work as Gods?
Zacian-C and Zamazenta-C are battle-only formes, similar to Zygarde-C, so they distribute the stats of their out-of-battle formes.

If you have other questions, PM Kris and I can update the FAQ.

If anyone has a suggestion on how to improve these or new ideas for other standards, please share.

Godly Gift Viability Rankings
Viability Ranking Just for Gods

Remember that this is the Viability Ranking for Gods, NOT Followers.

The ranking is based on:
  1. How good the stats are that the God Pokemon gives. This affects your team synergy and capabilities.
  2. How well the God Pokemon performs by itself in general.
Point #1 is more valuable than #2, though #2 is still a pretty big factor when deciding upon a God Pokemon's ranking.

Also since the number of potential gods is not high, there will be no subranks like A+ or A-. There will be only S, A, B, C, D, and Ubers that you shouldn't use as ranks. Each rank is listed alphabetically.

*Note: Stats to not donate are ordered in decreasing viability.

Quick Thoughts: We have some new gods in Melmetal and Zamazenta/Zacian (Have the same stats). Melm donating its amazing hp, attack and defense. And then Zama/Zacian have pretty good stats all around.
With things like Dragapult and Dracovish candidates for gifting I can see a lot of sp.def fairies and water absorb users rising to popularity.
Edit: Forgot Eternatus

Eviolite users will Thrive! I am looking at you Thick Fat Munchlax, Dusclops, and Rhydon!

HP recipients: AV Toxapex / Eviolite Gossifluer with Regenerator is another option
(Eldegoss’ SpD is only mildly higher than Eviolite Gossifluer, but its Def is much lower than Eviolite Gossifluer).
I feel like Wartortle would be a much better tanky spinner, but Gossifleur has Regenerator.

These are all ass. Almost all of Toxapex's utility comes from its status moves. Haze, Toxic, Toxic spikes, Recover, Baneful Bunker. Eldegoss needs alot more than HP to be good. Rest of the suggestions seem like waste of time (Wartortle????????)

Since I played it last generation, I can attest that Munchlax, Dusclops and Rhydon did have a strong viability, and have grown further relevant due to the Dexit limiting many of their checks.

Dusclops with high HP is certainly nothing to scoff at, due to its high 130 base Defenses. Giving Rhydon higher SpD compliments it’s tanky nature, and it’s 130 Atk is far from passive.

I acknowledged Toxapex as a seem to be able to captitalize on Regenerator. But I agree, AV was the wrong choice of item, I meant to focus on Gossifleur, but saw Toxapex’s Regenerator and lumped them together.

Correction: Eldegoss was never my suggestion, I acknowledged it’s weaker than Gossifleur, so people wouldn’t ask why not use its evolution.

A Pokemon with Aromatherapy, Rapid Spin, Sleep Powder, etc. can be a helpful support to a team, while being able to freely heal on its switch can enable its fourth move to be something other than Synthesis. This is a Pokemon that can serve a supportive role, and I don’t feel just saying it is trash helps explain why you think so. Eviolite puts its Defenses to respectable levels, and a HP boost helps it do what it does without compromising bulk.

I don’t plan to use Wartortle, nor did I suggest it, but I didn’t want to knock the person who did, so I said it was awesome, as shown by my asking what recovery it had, since I don’t find myself tempted to use it and thus didn’t know.

If you check the Gen 7 thread you will see how Munchlax, Rhydon, and Dusclops were all highly regarded and ranked. They are not trash.

Dusclops was known for Haze, and W-o-W, and could also block Rapid Spin, while Munchlax was known for phazing thru Whirlwind, and provided a Fire/Ice resistance thru Thick Fat without the weaknesses Fire and Water have. It also paired nicely with Ghosts so they can cover eachothers weaknesses. Rhydon was able to take advantage of Sandstream weather for the SpD, and could stack that with Eviolite and a potential god lending SpD as a stat; while it had many weaknesses, oftentimes it’s typing afforded it useful switching into Fire, Flying, Rock, and Electric hits to support its team. Giving it a Flying-Type teammate like Celesteela provided it with good synergy, and another Pokemon not impacted by Sandstream chip. Further it’s STAB could force out those types, it wasn’t just a wall with no presence.
Everything other than Rhydon had C- viability. Thats the opposite of "strong viability" if I ever knew one. Even Rhydon was B-, which is just above mediocre.

Gossiffleur is still an absolute joke. Sleep Powder is cool ig but its fodder for anything else, since its not that fat, instantly crippled by Knock Off, and just straight up vcannot touch threats like Corviknight, Eternalus or NecrozmaDM. You are better off running Ferrothorn if you are that desperate for a bulky Grass type.

Ferrothorn lacks all 3 of those moves I mentioned, (Aromatherapy, Rapid Spin, and Sleep Powder) which is why I considered the Defensive supporting Glossiffleur, since it offers different team support.

Ferrothorn offers Spikes, which is more offensive support, but lacks any reliable recovery, so it’s moves and ability serve a different function.

If anything Ferrothorn cannot really touch Corviknight or Necrozma, while Glossiffleur can put them both to Sleep, affording it turns to Rapid Spin, and Aromatherapy on their switch, and heal off damage via Regenerator even if something else comes in to force it out.

Eviolite makes Glossiffleur’s Defenses basically 115 base each, (240 w/ nature X 1.5 = 360, like 361 with nature off of Base 115 Def/SpD) and gets to keep it’s resistance to Ground, and neutrality to Fighting, very common coverage options on offensive Pokemon. Ferrothorn’s base SpD is literally 116, so it’s hardly bulkier on that front.

And while I agree that Ferrothorn is more often a first consideration, Gossifleur does offer tools that Ferrothorn lacks, still, I don’t really find them comparable because you would want different roles when considering one over the other. I am not VRing it, as the metagame is too new and we cannot even play it on a main server, but it’s a Regenerator who, is expected to come in, alleviate the team of hazards/status, etc. and switch out, healing in the process.
As for the VR for Rhydon, Munchlax, and Dusclops, they were literally among the bulkiest Pokemon in the metagame, even rivaling Fur Coat Pokemon.

Due to Dexit, Kanto Slowbro is no longer competing with Munchlax, as a Defense slot Ice/Fire resist, and as Munchlax doesn’t rely on the HP slot, using it for Defense means that your team can let a Non-Uber occupy it so you can literally pick more options for your God.

A lot of the metagame relevance is different due to Dexit, and going over how they functioned then will not be as crucial now, still, I don’t think Dusclops with a HP boost will be a Ghost considered Trash, as even without Eviolite, 130 mixed defenses off just 2 type weaknesses is pretty durable.
Hey G-Luke - I think it’s appropriate if we handle this thru PM if you want to continue (I know my profile is private but I could PM you). I don’t want to derail the thread from its onset with back and forth. Or we could both just drop it, which I feel is best.

The thread deserves additional topics, so let’s move to those, or perhaps other topics Chessking345 and additional people want to address. As this thread is brand new, it would be helpful to determine what will be the expected things to prepare for.

For example: Important speed tiers, and defensive/offensive cores (2-4 Pokemon that compliment each other).

Any thoughts?
You’re arguing that a (insignificantly) bulkier Eldegoss, an NU pick, is good because it has Rapid Spin (any ghost comes in on this and even then you’re not beating any hazard setters with whatever Grass move you run), Sleep Powder (in this context you’re virtually just running this mon to sleep one thing and then become setup fodder for the rest of the match) and Aromatherapy (better users exist). And if you eat a Knock Off, rip. And even if you do wall stuff how are you forcing it out after sleep clause? It has no offensive presence, Excadrill or whatever can just spam Iron Head or SD.

TLDR: The mindset of “this has different moves and therefore has a valid niche” isn’t exactly applicable to something as garbage as gossifleur. There’s better things to use a sleep move once and then become an active detriment to your team

Hey there everyone. I have some Pokemon (specifically gift receivers) that I think can be threatening, and a possible gimmick, too. (Image/gif quality may vary)
Ninjask.gif
This may seem like a super odd pick, but Ninjask is the fastest user of Final Gambit in the game. If you put it in the 1st slot of an Eternatus team, the only mons it won't kill are Wobbuffet, Wailord, Snorlax, and ghost types. Also, since it can get Infiltrator, it can Final Gambit any Pokemon that used Substitute. It might be a viable strat or just a gimmick, who knows? Side note, this can also work for Dugtrio, as stated above. Dugtrio is slower, but has Arena Trap, making it so switching is impossible.

Dracovish.gif
This is probably common knowledge, but Dracovish looks like a threat in this metagame. It can either feed off of slower opponents if you put it in your 2nd slot, or outspeed almost everything if you put it in your 6th slot. On a team with Kyurem-Black or Necrozma-Dusk-Mane as its uber, this thing can hit like a truck, or if you use Mewtwo, Eternatus, Zacian, or Zamazenta as your uber, it's faster than a jet.

EDIT: Did a calc and 157 base atk jolly max atk dracovish with a choice band can 2HKO Toxapex with 140 base hp and max hp and max def with a +def nature
crawdaunt.png
I may be jumping the gun here, but this thing looks like a monster with a better speed tier. It loves to have a good speed tier, good attack stat, and two STABs with Adaptability, along with Knock Off for removing items and Aqua Jet for priority.

Jirachi.gif
Togekiss.gif

I hate my life for even mentioning these two... Anyways, yeah, Jirachi and Togekiss both appreciate a speed boost to improve on their flinchhax game. Not much else to say.

seismitoad.png
One of Seismitoad's base 75 defenses can increase by a lot by putting it in your 3rd or 5th slots. Like in OU, Seismitoad can scare off offensive Water-types, such as Dracovish.

Some of these Pokemon may not be super viable, but I wanted to mention all of them.

Seismitoad is much better suited for the 4th slot with Swift Swim.

With the DLC dropping there have been a lot of changes to this meta.
First of all Kris will be joining the council to help make tiering decisions and VR changes.

:dracovish:
Dracovish has been banned by OU to Ubers, so it is no longer classified as a receiver and is instead a potential (albeit really bad) god.

:dugtrio::chansey::blissey:
Arena Trap, Chansey, and Blissey have been quickbanned.
Arena Trap has been considered uncompetitive with Dugtrio and Diglett being able to inherit HP for Final Gambit to eliminate most threats easily, or inherit Atk to fire off stronger Earthquakes. Trapinch is another possibility by inheriting speed to trap faster threats.
Chansey and Blissey are still incredible defensive walls by inheriting Def and can become nigh unbreakable. Their new tech in Teleport also allow them to be used on faster teams as a defensive pivot against basically anything.

:toxapex:
Toxapex is still on the watchlist for being an incredibly splashable wall that can be hard to punish, especially with Arena Trap being banned.

From DLC we also received a lot of new options for receivers, such as Urshifu, Slowbro, Slowking, Tangrowth, Scizor, Magnezone, and more! These new mons will be placed in a temporary "New Rank" while we decide on their placements.

With the potential of toxapex in this tier and with good support to deal with some counter, this meta could turn into stall supremacy no?
