Golisopod @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Emergency Exit
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- Spikes
- Knock Off
- Leech Life

Golisopod claws its way into the Monotype metagame thanks to its abundance of useful traits for Water teams! Rainless Water teams often struggle to fit reliable Ground answers, but Golisopod fills that niche, serving as an important check to threats like Landorus-T and Excadrill. Its powerful First Impression makes it a menace to types like Dark, Psychic, and Electric, and is particularly useful for checking common threats to Water teams like Zarude and Alolan Raichu. Spikes and Knock Off help wear down the opposing team and capitalize on common switch-ins like Celesteela and Aegislash. Golisopod appreciates Teleport Slowking or Slowbro bringing it in safely. Swampert can fill a similar pivot role with Flip Turn while also addressing Golisopod's Electric weakness and aiding its wallbreaking with Stealth Rock. Volcanion and Urshifu-R can threaten and capitalize on the Steel-types that Golisopod often invites in.

this is a small nitpick but i want the first impression sentence to really talk about how it can be a menace to those types listed above. aside from that, looks great!
