If you’re in the market for a Rapid Spin user with type advantage against most Stealth Rock users and the longevity to Spin multiple times per match, then Gossifleur is the spinner for you! Being a pure Grass-type makes dealing with troublesome rockers like Onix and Mudbray, strong Water-type threats like Corphish, and strong sand threats like Drilbur a cinch for Gossifleur, and its great defensive stats and access to Regenerator means it will likely have multiple chances per match to come in and Spin away entry hazards. When you’re not removing hazards, use Giga Drain to remove those pesky Rock- and Ground-types, Sleep Powder to incapacitate incoming threats, and Synthesis to keep that HP healthy. Keep in mind, however, that Rapid Spin is Gossifleur’s most important role.
Gossifleur provides great support to Pokemon that are weak to hazards. This includes powerful Flying-types like Vullaby and Drifloon that are weak to Stealth Rock and fast attackers like Diglett and Galarian Ponyta that are crippled by Sticky Web. Additionally, because it is such a weak move, using Rapid Spin will often provide your opponent with a free switch into a Pokémon that threatens Gossifleur, such as Cutiefly, Vullaby, or even worse, the Rapid Spin-blocking Drifloon. For this reason, other strong defensive pivots like Onix, Mareanie, Munchlax are great teammates for Gossifleur. Mareanie deserves particular attention in this regard due to its own access to Regenerator and its ability to beat one of Gossifleur’s greatest threats, the sleep-immune Cutiefly.
