move 2: Thunderbolt
move 3: Trick
move 4: Energy Ball / Dark Pulse
item: Choice Specs
ability: Shadow Tag
nature: Modest
evs: 132 HP / 252 SpA / 124 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Gothitelle can be an absolute nightmare for defensive cores to deal with, as its ability Shadow Tag prevents common defensive Pokemon such as Eternatus, Skarmory, Quagsire, and Blissey from switching out. Thanks to the power Choice Specs provides, Gothitelle can then proceed to KO or do significant damage to these walls or cripple them by using Trick. Psychic is your all-purpose attack, notably getting at least a 2HKO on any Eternatus lacking a Payapa Berry, while Thunderbolt does massive damage to Skarmory and Corviknight. Energy Ball is a useful coverage option for Quagsire, as it can become problematic for Gothitelle if it Dynamaxes; meanwhile, Dark Pulse can be useful against Psychic-types such as Mewtwo, Lunala, and Necrozma-DM. The EVs maximize power and bulk with enough Speed investment to outspeed uninvested Mandibuzz.
Gothitelle is very flexible and fits into any offensive team structure, paving the way for powerful sweepers such as Zacian-C, Necrozma-DM, and Excadrill. However, Gothitelle itself provides very little defensive utility, so it requires teammates that offer a lot of role compression. Due to this lack of defensive utility, Gothitelle tends to struggle against hyper offense teams; Choice Scarf Pokemon and revenge killers help to ease this problem. Gothitelle is also vulnerable to Pokemon that have a Shed Shell equipped, as a significant loss of momentum can happen if you mistakenly try to trap them. Thus, teammates that can provide entry hazard support, such as Skarmory and Toxic Spikes Eternatus, synergize very well with Gothitelle, to punish their switches. For example, a Quagsire that choses to forgo Heavy-Duty Boots in favor of Shed Shell will now be 2HKOed by Adamant Zacian-C after Spikes damage. Additionally, Gothitelle can trap common entry hazards removers such as Corviknight, Mandibuzz, and Eternatus. Finally, while Eternatus looks like an easy target, even an uninvested Eternatus can be a threat to Gothitelle if Gothitelle switches in on a Dynamax Cannon; Pokemon such as Corviknight, Mandibuzz, and Rotom-W are helpful teammates, as U-turn and Volt Switch let Gothitelle switch in much more easily.

[SET COMMENTS]
This set trades the immediate power of Choice Specs to become more bulky and gain the ability to PP stall. Additionally, this set has the potential to sweep through teams unprepared for it, especially teams lacking a Dark-type. Trick lets Gothitelle give a Pokemon of your choosing a Choice Scarf, which is usually more crippling than a tricked Choice Specs. Taunt is a solid option as well, as it frees up Gothitelle's item slot and stops most defensive Pokemon in their tracks. However, this will make Gothitelle worse when playing against more offensively oriented teams. Should you opt for PP stalling, both moves can significantly reduce the time it takes to KO the opposing Pokemon. Rest lets Gothitelle heal, remove status, and PP stall thanks to Rest's sleep turns. Cosmic Power makes Gothitelle very hard to take out and works very well with Stored Power, which reaches a whopping 260 Base Power when fully boosted.
Compared to the Choice Specs set, this set most notably has a better matchup against Necrozma-DM; as a result, Zacian-C and Kyurem-B make good partners. Dark-types are very troublesome for this set to deal with, as they are immune to Stored Power and can potentially stop a game-ending sweep. Because of this, Choice Band Urshifu-S and Choice Band Marshadow make good partners for being able to lure Mandibuzz and 2HKO it with Close Combat. In return, Gothitelle can trap Eternatus and set up on it. As it is heavily reliant on Trick, this set has a more difficult time with Shed Shell Pokemon than the Choice Specs set; Pokemon with Knock Off like Necrozma-DM can help ease this problem.
