Welcome back to Smogon Grand Slam! The UU, RU, NU, PU, Ubers, and LC Opens will begin shortly, commencing the competition for the coveted turquoise Trophy (
) and a lifetime of mainer jokes. Furthermore, the winner will be able to pick either a custom avatar or the ability to claim an inactive PS! username, courtesy of Zarel.

The format starts with the regular season, which consists of six separate tournaments: The UU Open, The RU Open, The NU Open, The PU Open, The Ubers Open and the LC Open. You can join all six if you wish, but your top three performances only will be counted towards playoffs! This is because we have added a sixth open and adopted the best finish limit of three for this edition (NEW -- YES, BRAND NEW AND SHINY. VERY COOL!!!). The point system for the opens is the same as the one used in Smogon Tour, Smogon Classic and previous years of Smogon Grand Slam (see this for further explanation). When all the Opens have been finished, the sixteen players with the most points will qualify for playoffs, where the battlers will duke it out in a single elimination bracket until there is one Grand Slam XI champion.

Signups for each Open will be posted after the first round of the previous Open is completed. Here is the list of the six Opens and the dates each signups will be posted:
  • The UU Open - Hosted by Lilburr - March 14th
  • The RU Open - Hosted by Finchinator - March 14th
  • The NU Open - Hosted by Kris - March 21st
  • The PU Open - Hosted by chlo - March 28th
  • The Ubers Open - Hosted by SparksBlade - April 4th
  • The LC Open - Hosted by Merritt - April 4th
If a tier shift happens to occur during a round, it will not be taken into account until the following round. Be sure to join the Smogon Tournaments Discord server if you have any questions or wish to ask a host about a decision. More information on the tournament, standings spreadsheet, and any other logistics will be edited here and posted about in the near future -- stay tuned!

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS THREAD WITH "IN", POST IN THE TOURNAMENT THREADS WHEN THEY GO UP TO JOIN THE TOUR AND INSTEAD RESPOND TO THIS POST WITH YOUR FAVORITE DOG GIFS!

Good luck and have fun!

After receiving a massive donation, we have some money prizes for the upcoming Grand Slam. I want to thank temp for his generosity!!! He is giving us another reason to be very excited for these upcoming tournaments and we should all be appreciative.

Each of the six opens will come alongside a $200 total prize; $150 goes to the winner and $50 goes to the runner-up.

The playoffs come alongside a $800 total prize; $400 goes to the winner, $200 goes to the runner-up, and $100 goes to each semifinalist.

This year's Grand Slam Standings sheet can be found here: http://spo.ink/grandslamxi

I am the primary editor with Perry graciously assisting me, so contact me if there are any issues!
  • Please keep in mind that I will only add new rounds once the previous round's extension period is over or if all extension matches have been decided! This is to help with processing, especially with LC's Open being split into multiple threads in its early rounds.
  • Wins and losses are also automated so there is at most an hour delay between a name being bolded on an OP and it being recorded onto the sheet.
  • Standings take into account BFL 3 so it only totals each player's 3 best performances. The win percentage is unaffected as it still takes into account all 6 Opens. Red numbers mean they were eliminated from the specific Open while dashes mean the player did not participate.
Lastly, a reminder that if you get a name change during the tournament and you need your scores merged under your new name, it is your responsibility to contact me.

Gl to all who's competing!
