Welcome to the tenth!!! iteration of the GSC Cup!

Tournament Rules:
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • Smogon Classic rules can be read here.
  • Standard GSC OU.
  • Best-of-three, single elimination.
  • Battles should take place on Pokemon Showdown!
  • Do not make baseless activity posts -- get in contact with your opponent and report missed times / scheduling issues only.
  • Replays will be required starting in Round 2 of the tournament.
Identity

About playing on alts: It is entirely allowed to play on an alt other than your own main forum name, though if your opponent wishes to confirm your identity, you must log on to your main alt to show them you are who you claim to be. This is to prevent people from pretending to be who they're not.

About playing on different servers: Tournament matches must be played on the Smogtours server. The Main PS! server is also acceptable if both parties agree to that. Other servers are not sanctioned by the TD team and playing in them might result in your game not counting. Protect yourself from that by playing in Smogtours, where we also have the power to recreate games that end due to DC's.

Scouting

On scouting opponents: Going through your opponents replays of tournament and ladder games is entirely allowed, as long as a game is public there is nothing preventing you from watching it. An exception to this is abusing powers granted to you by being staff on Smogon or PS! to gain access to information a normal user wouldn't have access to, which is strictly forbidden.

On leaking teams: Divulging private information about someone's planned team to their opponent is never allowed, and will be heavily sanctioned. Requesting that such information be divulged is also grounds for punishment. Keep your scouting to publicly available information and you'll be fine.

Timer Clause / Disconnections

On the Timer: The timer must stay on throughout the whole battle, not to be turned off even in the case of a player disconnecting as we now have a separate disconnection timer (more details here). The timer may not be turned off in any circumstance.

On Timeout losses: A player that loses by having all his time run out loses the game. This is only not the case if the player that received the timeout loss can be verified to have suffered a True Disconnection. Rematches in such cases are not allowed.

On True Disconnection: The TD team has a secret threshold of seconds that your timer must be at or above, from the moment you disconnect, for a timeout loss to be considered a True Disconnection. If your game is determined to be a True Disconnection if you played on Smogtours and contacted a TD before the room expired your game will be recreated up to the point the disconnect happened. It is the responsibility of the player that disconnected to get a TD into the room before it expires.
Battle Clauses:
  • Evasion Clause
  • OHKO Clause
  • Sleep Clause
  • Species Clause
  • Timed Battle
  • Freeze Clause
  • Sleep Trap Clause: Pokemon can't have (Sing/Sleep Powder/Hypnosis/Lovely Kiss/Spore) + (Mean Look/Spider Web) in the same moveset
  • Trap Pass Clause: Pokemon can't have (Mean Look/Spider Web) + Baton Pass in the same moveset

also i'd like to say something else. 3-way finals are the worst thing ever, they can drag out an already lengthy tour, this was quite exhausting for me (in accordance with 2 other tours i was playing for at the time). half of my annoyance about losing the series vs bihi was due to having to play this all over again. please, all hosts, i really respect the effort you put into organizing these events but please consider not using this model again or at least use some tiebreaking criteria so matches won't have to be repeated again and again

From Roapl predictions:
GSC OU: Siatam vs GLFGno7
It would be, in all honesty, pretty insane to not predict for siatam vs anyone who isn't a top 5 player or so. He's been showing his grind and takes in gsc ou work, and he seems to do well in high pressure scenarios such as finals.
With that said, GLFGno7 is no slouch either. He's been one of the "hes good but not a top player" guy for a while, but from what ive seen, hes getting there. Really interested to see how this one goes
And now, you're up there. Knew you had it in you from the times we've played. Congrats and hope you stick around for more!

Well if you had seen it when we played, that I had hardly picked up the tier seriously, you have a very good eye for spotting talent haha. Thanks for the kind words man, really. And hopefully we'll have some chance for a rematch:)

Id assume, its because your behavior towards bihi mainly and you getting lucky in g1. You had a few small lucky breaks g2 but thats the game.

Also i didnt see my buddy complain really.

That being said congratz.

MY behavior towards bihi? I didn't even address him (was just generally complaining about getting very haxed), he was ironic and even called me a "shameless mf". Dunno what you are talking about man and don't care tbh I don't even want to think about these series again

I admitted I got some lucky breaks in g1 but I don't think I did get anything significant in g2. My comment was just a matter of me wondering about what he meant, I didn't mean to be offensive or anything

Thanks for congratulating

I was rather referring to Game 1 and the first series, but mostly wanted to joke about skarm sweeping with enough Thunder misses.

Anyways agreeing that round robin finals suck, but I also do not have a better idea how to deal with uneven tours.

You've been impressive at GSC for at least 2 years now GLFGno7, so I'm not surprised at the slightest you won this one. It's safe to say that you have now established yourself as a top GSCer and I wanna see you stay there and do well in SPL. Until then, enjoy this one and please stop complaining during your matches!

full agreement, if a bracket will end in round robin we should just have more r1 byes so it won't be round robin

and congrats : )

Oh I see. Yeah I got some stuff that made my life easier in g1 for sure

Thanks very much my great national teammate, time for you next year;) Truth is I do complain a lot about hax but it's so hard for me to digest investing so much time and effort and having it go to waste due to factors I can't control. I know this is one of the main dimensions of pokemon but still I have a considerable difficulty to accept it:/
