Senior Staff is ending this tournament, due to severe hosting irregularities in a money tour.
Excluding users from joining a tour is not inherently unreasonable (subforums might prevent people from joining tournaments if banned from their official discord, for example). However, in all cases where this happens the users should have a reasonable ability to know ahead of time, either from direct communication or, ideally, the exclusion being part of the signups OP, and staff approving the tournament should know ahead of time so it can be either ironed out or backed up by staff. Neither happened in this tournament.
Tournaments that plan to offer a cash prize should inform the staff who approve the tour ahead of time, so they can be aware of potential logistical issues (such as escrow in cases where it's necessary, helping with advertising, etc.), and also because adding stakes to a tour immediately increases how much attention it gets and how much scrutiny it's going to be under. If a prize is offered, then everything
must be above board - the site cannot tolerate mismanagement when hosting a prize tour. This did not happen.
Decisions made which change how a tour is generated and hosted should be communicated to involved users to prevent confusion. For example, if a tournament is going to exclude specific signups such that a round 1 bracket is being generated from a list rather than a link to the thread, this should be explained to the person generating the bracket and any cohosts, so that they do not accidentally include people who were not meant to be in the tour. Telling these users after the fact, not being fully clear with them about the extent of exclusions or the reasons behind them, and then blaming them publicly afterwards is absolutely incorrect. To be completely clear,
Clas is not responsible for what's happened in this tour and has not made any errors of their own as far as I have been able to find.
I apologize to the players who were participating in this tournament for cancelling it under you, but the forums will not continue a prize tournament that is being run like this.
