Thank you to everyone who signed up! Due to both the quantity and quality of the signups, I'm pleased to announce I will increase the player cap to 24. Seeds 9-24 will face off for the 1st round, while the top 8 seeds get a bye.
The seeding was mostly done by me but I had some people look over it, which was much appreciated.

1. Nalorium

Nalorium is a player that should need no introduction. He won 2 GSCPLs as a manager with an additional 2nd place under his belt, but his feats as a player are even more impressive. He made GSC Cup IX semis defeating BD, vani and Conflict, placed 9th in GSC Invitational III and put up a strong performance in a stacked ROAPL pool this year. He expressed desire to play GSC in SPL last year but got slotted into BW due to his succes here. A strong performance here could be what he needs to find himself starting in his generation of choice this time.

2. Iguana

Iguana is one of the most passionate GSC lovers on this site. Similar to Nalorium, he went positive in the stacked ROAPL GSC pool scoring wins over several of the players seeded directly below him. He was selected for the GSC Invitational due to his impressive play-ins performance and managed to place 17th as a big underdog. This could be Iguana's chance to prove that GSC is more than just a coinflip.

3. melancholy0

melancholy0 is next up, in no small part thanks to his great run winning the Gold Bracket play-ins for the GSC Invitational over Onraider and Iguana twice. While he 0-2d the main event, his play-ins run also included a win over eventual main bracket champion hyogafodex. melancholy0 also performed admirably in ROAPL vs a strong schedule, and made it to the quarterfinals of the GSC Global Championship. Having performed well in a qualifying setting before, this tournament could be a big breakout.

4. Onraider

Onraider only started playing GSC very recently, but has immediately put himself on the map as a top circuit threat. Between a very impressive 3-3 in ROAPL, a deep Winter Seasonal run and a Semifinals appearance in GSC Global Championship, he has amounted a laundry list of wins including top names like gorgie, MrSoup, Thor and melancholy0. After taking a bit of a break in the latter half of the year, he's back to make a final SPL bid.

5. Thor

Thor is the first player on this list to not have played in the most recent GSC Invitational. Despite that, his success in the generation spans several years, and has recently ramped up significantly. His 5-2 run in GSCPL IV saw him take down Kenix while he scored another SPL level win over vani in ROAPL. His strongest performance was in this year's GSC Global Championship where he made a run to the finals defeating players like melancholy0 and underlying as well as taking two sets off of eventual winner MrSoup. This tournament could be a big opportunity for Thor to show that he's not to be overlooked anymore.

6. OmBrArch

OmBrArch broke out last year with a run to the Semifinals of GSC Majors, which save him sweeping a pool that included Zokuru and defeat Siatam in the knockout stage. Since then, he made it to round 5 of GSC Cup and is currently 2-1 in CCL with wins over Kenix and Jester, two SPL veterans. After struggling a bit in the last GSCPL and ROAPL, this could be the chance OmBrArch needs to put his name on the map.

7. Underlying

Underlying only joined the site less than a year ago but has established himself as a top threat in GSC immediately. While he missed top cut in GSC Swiss, he defeated SPL mainstays Siatam and vani during his run, and his round 3 GSC Cup exit was at the hands of finalist BIHI. The main performance that's getting him seeded here however is his run to the Semifinals of GSC Global Championship where he defeated a rogue's gallery of top talent including GLFGno7, Fakes, vani and Onraider. This could be his chance to prove that his success this year has been more than beginners luck.

8. Alice Kazumi

The final top seed will be Alice Kazumi. While she made it to the quarterfinals of the GSC Global Championship and is currently on track for a circuit playoffs appearance, most of her success has been off-site. In the GSC Invitational play-ins she placed 5th in the Gold Bracket defeating Egor, and in her current CCL run she has defeated BD. Additionally, her run in the most recent PPL saw her achieve an impressive 7-1 record.

9. Egor

While Egor's placement as the 9th seed has him miss out on a round 1 bye, he should by no means be underestimated compared to the rest of the pack. Lack of success in individual tournaments holds him back from a higher placement, but both his most recent GSCPL and ROAPL saw him going 4-1, with wins over the likes of Siatam, Nalorium, hellpowna and Century Express in there. Despite being a player of this caliber, Egor often tends to go under the radar due to not having as much individual results. This tournament could be the performance he needs to show that he can hang with the best.

10. cherryb0ng

Despite being less active in recent times, cherryb0ng is another GSC Community mainstay. Hosting the GSC Invitational and making dozens of high quality GSC OU videos, the gen 2 enthusiast is also no slouch on the battlefield. His 5-2 run last GSCPL saw him taking down Jester, but his 0-2 performance in the most recent invitational left much to be desired and his reduced activity means he lacks in other individual results to make up for it. A nice performance in this event could put him right back in the game.

11. TyCarter

TyCarter had a nice run in classic this year, being in playoffs contention until close to the end. A big part of this was his strong GSC Cup run, where despite only making it to round 5 he took down Eeveeto, Cristal and crucify. While he is not as established in GSC as players above him, his strong fundamentals paired with clear interest and aptitude for the tier could make him a dark horse for a deep run.

12. Raahel

Rounding out the top half is Raahel, another player who has been in the game for a while. His 4-1 run last GSCPL including two wins in playoffs was instrumental to his team winning the tournament. His lack of success in individual tournaments holds him back from a higher seed, but he is an established name in the GSC scene.

13. Elian

Elian has had some success in this years GSC Circuit, placing 3rd in the Winter Seasonal and reaching the quarterfinals of the Global Championship, but lost round 1 of GSC Cup and went 1-3 in Swiss. A good run here could prove that his place at the top of the circuit leaderboard is more than just a fluke.

14. Mashing

Mashing subbed into GSC for the latter half of her ROAPL season and broke even, scoring wins over top talent in OmBrArch and hellpowna. In addition to this, she is an established newer gens player with strong fundamentals.

15. aminita

aminita FKA UHX made quarterfinals of the GSC Cup this year. While their run lacked standout wins on top GSC Mains, taking down players like Void and Charmflash and performing on the big stage is still extremely solid. If they can prove their run wasn't just a fluke, aminitate could become a threat in GSC sooner rather than later.

16. Knight who says "Ni"

Knight who says "Ni" is another player whose best result is found off-site, rather than on Smogon. He took down Onraider, OmBrArch and Alice Kazumi to place 4th in the Gold Bracket of the GSC Invitational play-ins, all of whom are top seeds for this tournament. If he can repeat his performance there, he could make a very deep dark horse run.

17. NoName6293

ORAS wunderkind NoName has recently broke out onto the Smogon scene with circuit farming performances the likes of which haven't been seen in years. More recently he also started playing GSC, and is currently in top 8 of GSC Swiss with a win over vani in the knockout stage. While he should be a lock for SPL in ORAS, seeing him perform in GSC here will nonetheless be interesting.

18. Leftwingbo

While LWB lacks achievements on Smogon, he has won three GSC Opens on PP, the most out of anyone. If he can translate his offsite success to a deep run here, he might be a name to look out for.

19. gastlies

gastlies is a very solid RBY player that recently has been trying to establish herself as a GSC player as well. For the USA vs the World event she managed to defeat hellpowna, and is currently in the top cut of the GSC Swiss. If her success in RBY translates over to GSC she'll do very well here.

20. NotVeryCake

While Cake is not as established in GSC as she is in her home gen of RBY, she beat Sceptross in play-ins for GSC Invitational and most recently top cut GSC Swiss. Cake is quite talented at RBY, so if she puts the same amount of effort into GSC, she could very well end up a strong contender here.

21. SENTURIES

SENTURIES is a newer player that hasn't played in any tournaments yet, but hit 1500 on the GSC ladder and played some very solid games while doing so. Only signing up last month, SENTURIES has a lot to prove, and this tournament is the perfect place for that.

22. chub

chub is the 3rd RBY player on this list, and while the most accomplished in RBY out of the few of them he has the least feats in GSC. He lacks success individual tournaments and went negative in GSCPL, but did manage to defeat Siatam. Nonetheless, his strong fundamentals should give him a fighting chance here.

23. violet river

Similar to NoName, river will most likely be starting in a different tier this SPL, as she's one of the most promising upstarts in ADV OU with a top 8 performance in ADV Invitational. Despite that, she has shown interest in GSC OU for quite some time and has played it a significant amount with top players.

24. tylerkehne

Finishing up the roster is tylerkehne, another newer player who top cut Swiss. Going 5-1 in the swiss stage, he defeated hellpowna and qualified as the 5th seed. After joining the site less than a year ago he has already shown some promise.

To everybody that didn't get in, I appreciate your signup regardless and hope to see you try again next year! There were some very hard cuts to make as there is plenty of influx of new talent, and I'm very proud of how far GSC as a community has come in recent years.

Without further ado, here are the pairings!

10. cherryb0ng vs 23. violet river

I honestly think the top 8 should just be chosen for SPL. But this definitely makes it more exciting.

It's been a wonderful experience to clash heads with so much talent this year. I had a high opinion of my own play and I can proudly say that there are so many players I had the opportunity of facing off with that it's great to see where my level actually stands... Right in the middle. This leaves me a lot of room for improvement no doubt.

I'm very much impressed with a lot of people here and no matter the outcome, all the best to you.
