Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Substitute

Gyarados Intimidates the competition! Gyarados has always been an excellent option on Flying teams as a dangerous sweeper, capable of taking off at a moment's notice. Waterfall and Stone Edge completely cover the Fire matchup while providing Gyarados with useful tools to take on opposing Flying and Ice teams, notably threatening Mantine. This set forgoes additional coverage for Substitute, allowing Gyarados to set up with ease, punishing more passive types like Normal. Because of this, Gyarados appreciates teammates that can make up for it not running coverage like Earthquake and Power Whip. Landorus-T stands out as an excellent option to deal with Poison teams while wearing down the opposition with Stealth Rock. Similarly, Zapdos and Thundurus-T help Gyarados take on Toxapex, an otherwise insurmountable challenge for it. Corviknight is an almost-required teammate for its ability to safely get Gyarados in with U-turn and remove Stealth Rock with Defog; Corviknight, in turn, appreciates Gyarados demolishing Fire. Gyarados struggles mightily against bulkier types that can deal with its coverage like Grass and Steel; Galarian Zapdos cures these issues, breaking through bulky foes like Amoonguss and Ferrothorn and weakening the rest of the field for a potential Gyarados sweep.
