BH Game Reviews - Week 1
Stolen Identity vs
Rei
vs
Stolen Identity's team looks pretty standard, though knowing SI the Etern is probably unorthodox. FC looks to be Audino, Steelceus is a wildcard as with Flutter Mane.
Rei's team is I believe the same 6 as a team from WC, and even without that knowledge considering the matchup it can be inferred it is some sort of hyper offense, especially with some defining mons like Yveltal (VD Power Trip), Blissey Lunala Giratina (Final Gambit), and even Dialga-O (PrankBond).
Immediately we find that Diao is Prank with Mental Herb, but it runs into Bounce Blissey (?). SI pivots on the Giratina into Flutter Mane, but this turns out to be a misplay as it immediately is blown up by Final Gambit (Flutter Mane can be useful to control Yveltal potentially). Lunala tries to parting shot (also scarf), presumably expecting a switch to Blissey, but Steelceus reveals its own Amulet Simple VD set. Prank Bond Diao forces Steelceus out, with Etern posing a potential problem due to higher HP than Lunala; it gets tricked the Scarf, which poses a potential problem later on. Steelceus comes in and tries to setup, but Lunala inexplicably goes for a Glare instead of immediate Final Gambit, ending up not being punished due to full para. Blissey gambits into the Kyogre, and from here the Yveltal can basically win if it gets in on not Etern. Some dancing around happens and Yveltal hard switches out the first time to scout, which turns out to be a misplay as it was the only chance it had to setup while at high health before Etern is in. Etern claims on Fairyceus (revealing it is Unaware), Yveltal takes a Cage while setting up but lands the game changing crit KOing Etern, and winning the game as neither of SIs mons have attacks.
I think that SI had the better mu here as he did seem to have the counterplay necessary for the kind of HO cheese loaded, though not immediately knowing the sets is a problem. He did however make some critical mistakes, mainly letting Etern be tricked and keeping two 0 attacks mons until the end. Rei's side is mainly the slight misplays with Lunala and the incorrect positioning around the Etern at the end.
Treeko928 vs
NightEdge
vs
Treeko brings a rather defensive team on inspection, with main progress makers Scept and Ghostceus. It is likely Scales Melo improofing Scept, FC/Regen between Steela and Swampert, and a flex Ghostceus ability, could be MG or a second FC.
NightEdge also loads a solo breaker team with Gren, also Ghostceus secondary wincon. FC looks to be forced on Audino, Scales seems to be passed for AV Dia-O. Giratina is usually Prank but Hallward often praises RegenVest, so it is possible here to supplement Dia-O in the absence of Scales.
Super early on NightEdge's Ghostceus reveals Take Heart Mortal Spin, but is completely walled by Cloak Meloetta. Treeko's Ghostceus reveals Torch Spin, suggesting MG. Then Sceptile is phazed in by Audino (Whirlwind is uh interesting) and sends it to hell with Gigaton Hammer. Here Scept starts posing as a massive threat, as NightEdge has no mon that outspeeds it and it can start clicking moves for free once AVs get knocked. T19 Treeko brings Imposter hard on Ghostceus to Take Heart away the paralysis, while NightEdge brings in Imp and gets up TSpikes, which is crucial as Treeko's removal is not reliable against the AV Giratina. This TSpike prevents Treeko from being able to switch in Meloetta, and Swampert also gets poisoned by the Ghostceus. Gren reveals SF but cannot do much to AV Pert. Then, inconceivably Treeko lets Scept take a Knock from Impostered Pert, completely crippling it especially considering the lack of recovery, meaning Dragon Energy can no longer reasonably threaten both Dragons. However we immediately see a throw back from NightEdge, bringing Gren in on Scept (later claiming expecting Modest Scept?) and dying. We then see a long sequence of neither side making much progress with some Ghostceus vs Ghostceus/Imp interactions coming down to potential speed ties but Treeko bailing out. More turns pass before Treeko claims DiaO with the ever threatening Ghostceus, but loses the game deciding speed tie. Without Ghostceus Treeko no longer can make progress while NightEdge has Imposter and Infernal Giratina.
I think the matchup was more or less even. Treeko's Sceptile is a massive threat but requires a lot of setup and careful play to make work, while NightEdge's Gren doesn't have a highly sturdy answer either. Both sides made notable costly misplays and the game was ultimately going to be decided Ghostceus speed ties one way or another.
lemonstre1 vs
RoFnA
vs
lemonstre brings a Luke structure, with likely Miraidon improofing it and Ghostceus as secondary FC. This suggests Mage is SpD with a wildcard Etern. The SpD might feel a bit shaky so need to see what Etern is, esp if Mage is Fire-immune.
RoFnA did not in fact load rain, but brings a team highly similar to below Ivar's team. It looks from improofing and stuff that Swampert is FC and Fairyceus is Scales, though that means Etern is likely not standard SSA as that would not be improofed well.
Early on Luke hits Steela with Electro Drift, but it lives due to AV. Rofna brings in Etern, which reveals Take Heart Thunder Cage (same set as SI). This set ends up 6-0ing as Magearna lacks setup control and the Etern is Plate Judgment.
I mean matchup was obviously very good for Rofna lol. I think lemonstre's team is just lacking any SpD, especially with the sole pseudo-SpD in PSea Mage lacking moves like Topsy. This is also worsened by a lack of good speed control, Miraidon is kind of fast but it evidently did not have a Dragon STAB. I do see the idea with PSea covering Dragons like Etern and Scept while Unaware Etern (unless it was Scales?!) covering setup Arcs, but it can be risky as shown from this game.
Fish Gaming vs
Ivar57
vs
Fish loads a really offensive balance on inspection with 3 breakers with a defensive core likely being Regen Diao, Scales Groundceus, and FC Audino. This means the Scept cannot be HJK variants for Diao to improof, and the Gren is either Band or SF no Combat Torque. Due to the presence of Gren and Zam, there also needs some removal somewhere, and it seems to be forced on Groundceus.
Ivar loads a rather standard looking potential superman structure with the fabled EternScept core, which might have Gambit on Etern to pave way for Scept. Defensively looks to be Scales Melo FC Fairyceus and Regen Steela.
Early on Zam coverage is revealed, but it cannot meaningfully threaten Melo. Groundceus also reveals EQ suggesting the awful Tidy Up set, which looks bricked into the Steela. Diao's AV gets knocked, meaning Scept now can threaten to just click buttons. Ivar's Imp does get paralyzed, though it might not be significant as his defensive core seems to be able to handle the triple threat. We then enter a highly interesting double switching sequence, until Fish breaks it by bringing in Zam as Ivar doubled into Steela, which stays in either as a read or because Blue Flare usually doesnt OHKO AV, and gets nice chip on Zam. Melo's slow pivot then brings in Scept, which with no switch-ins left forces a kill. Malignant Etern then poisons Groundceus, which with no Take Heart is basically rendered useless. From here Ivar basically wins, as Take Heart Fairyceus now just wins. Gren does reveal SF which could've potentially done something but was later mentioned to be lacking Bolt Strike (??) so Celesteela checks.
Matchup was pretty dominating for Ivar, but not really due to incredible teambuilding or anything. Fish's team just wasn't very inspiring, the defensive core is very shaky especially with a suspicious Groundceus set (amulet sounds cool until it gets forced out by every Knock), and the offensive mons do not feel very synergetic. As a result Ivar didn't really need to do anything to just increase his advantage into a win.
teamo vs
TTTech
vs
teamo's team looks like a fairly standard balance with Gardevoir as its main breaker, likely improofed by Scales Groundceus. The FC could be Yveltal/Zacian, while POgre could be a RegenVest or some setup role. Chansey is obv Imp here.
TTTech brought a very TTTech like team with exclusively TTTech mons. Groudon is for sure some setup set, and so is Arceus-Fairy. Muk only really can run RegenVest, and Giratina is also almost certainly Prankster. Celesteela could feasibly be anything considering Groudon Fairyceus can form the FurScales core, with Regen Muk already and what is likely FC Fairyceus it could be something like WBB.
Extremely early on we find TTTech disadvantaged with non-AV Steela trapped by Groundceus and then fully eliminated by an unfortunate crit. Groudon reveals Shackle basically confirming setup, and the next noteworthy thing is teamo letting their non-TH Groundceus be poisoned by Muk, which is fair considering they lacked a good switch-in but will pose problems later on. After several turns of positioning TTTech's Fairyceus sets up to +2 and attempts to push for the kill against the first time switched-in POgre, but it reveals to be the Unaware Shackle set, trapping and eliminating the Fairyceus, but no more offensive progress due to Prank Tina. With some more positioning Zacian reveals a suspicious Pixi set. After a risky turn of leaving Imp in on Muk teamo finally is able to bring in Gardevoir, which trades most of its health to secure the kill on Imposter after losing the tie. Then however teamo chooses to sack the Gardevoir, a play I'm not a big fan of considering the reliable switch-in to Muk in the back and the somewhat reliability of their removal. Then immediately after POgre is sacked inconceivably when there is a whole Cloak Imp in the back, which was still not swapped in against the Groudon (if Don doesn't get enough boosts for crit range it can be indefinitely stalled by Imp Sap esp with Yvel as a guaranteed backup. The Groudon situation worsens when Imp gets itself knocked, rendering it useless as a Groudon check. Nothing happens for a bit until Ygod gets traded by DBond, making Groudon even more threatening, however if Groundceus is in it can stall it out effectively. The last noteworthy turn was T88, where teamo elects to riskily Mortal with Groundceus, putting it in range of +1 Blades, but TTTech does not get the high roll he needs. From here the game is basically secured.
The matchup was highly in favour of teamo considering the reliable setup counterplay he has while Gardevoir has an easy time breaking against a SpD core of Scales Groudon and AV Muk. TTTech doesn't really have any easy wincon with Groudon strugging against Yveltal and Imp, while Fairyceus has to deal with Kyogre. The most plausible winpath for TTTech would be to attempt to wear down Kyogre long term through Cage chip, with a Knock being also very helpful. Playwise I would say the main inaccuracies from TTTech would be playing too aggressively with Fairyceus, though this likely is influenced by the untimely crit T3; for teamo's side there are some inaccurate executions in the later game for a clean win, but overall they were able to secure the advantage from the matchup. Noteworthy is the good prep, packing several excellent set choices, though this is minorly undermined by an awful Zacian set.
big tony 2014 vs
Hiusi guy
vs
big tony loads a stall featuring an unorthodox pick in Darkceus (later found that the team is built by Onyx), it is uncertain what the specific sets are, though it is likely to have at least 1 Imp user and Darkceus is likely FC as the Gren check. Giratina is also likely Prank as anything else is unviable.
Hiusi guy's team looks like very standard, with Luke as main breaker improofed by FC Miraidon, Scales user as Audino, a secondary FC in Ghostceus to patch holes left by Mirai, and Regen Dia-O.
Early on multiple sets are revealed, "Sevag Regen set" Steelix, Regen Bliss, and Prank Tina confirmed. On Hiusi guy's side we have Luke confirmed as Band and Mirai reveals what looks to be the Torch Cage Mortal set, which can be quite strong in this matchup. T19 big tony lets Giratina get poisoned, a confusing play when it cannot deal with the Mirai anyways meaning Blissey would have to also get poisoned, meaning its now going to get worn down rather fast and be a much worse Lucario scout. T31 Darkceus drops to rocks range from Luc, meaning once Hiusi guy can remove the Spike big tony won't be able to reset. However, in this process Lucario takes significant damage from Spikes and Helmet, as Dialga pseudo-reveals no Knock as otherwise it would've Knocked Darkceus. T48 Dialga sets up a Doom Desire and pivoting into Lucario, practically guaranteeing a kill with Close Combat, though Lucario takes another round of Spikes damage, Darkceus is sacked as big tony can't reliably keep rocks off anyways. With Darkceus out Ghostceus looks promising but dies immediately to Spooky Plate Imp. Then Hiusi guy lets Imposter get trapped and eliminated by the Steelix who now has a much easier time without Audino being able to TP into Ghostceus. However, Miraidon still has a chance to win, but expends too much Torch Song PP on Giratina, leaving it unable to break through. After Lucario gets burned by Beak Blast Celesteela the game is sealed, though continues on for quite a while.
Matchup somewhat favours big tony's stall, mainly due to Lucario being choice-locked with a reasonably good midground in Giratina, and also because Hiusi's team lacks durability from multiple Boots users or, crucially, a Magic Guard user. Hiusi guy would likely need to be able to setup Doom Desire repeatedly and position for Lucario to click Close Combats. There were several misplays from both sides throughout the game. The main one for big tony is letting Giratina be poisoned early on, while it would likely had to take the poison later on, the early poison led to it being unable to midground Luke reliably; then later on in a commanding position not recognizing that Imposter was completely free to full pp stall on Dialga-O and Audino with Lucario burned. For Hiusi guy he maybe could've played Lucario slightly more conservatively early on with Spikes, though he was able to get major progress so it was respectable; the major inaccuracies were letting Imposter get trapped against the revealed Steelix set and not accounting for Plate Imp, despite big tony kind of openly revealing when he hard switched into Imp against the Ghostceus on T39 and T41.
Quantum Tesseract vs
pannu
vs
QT loads Arcless with what is potentially a superman structure with many Magic Guards. It is not certain if it is FC Steela Scales Aud or FC Aud AV Steela.
pannu brings an interesting pick in Ferrothorn, with the Ho-Oh pick it seems probable that it is not some fire-immune and instead relying on Ho-Oh to offensively improof, such as Regen. Zama is FC suggesting Ho-Oh as Scales. Ghostceus is a wildcard, potentially MG and the likes.
Early on Ghostceus reveals Magic Bounce and Celesteela luckily dodged a burn, also revealing its not RegenVest likely FC. Ferro reveals RegenVest, which can generate a bit of momentum here. QT also reveals they are Cloak Imp Blissey and non-Imp Chansey. Ghostceus reveals Rapid Spin as well, making it a significant problem for QT by walling Steela and removing hazards relatively uncontested considering non-Evio Imp. T14 pannu interestingly does not reverse court change, instead having imp eat a ruination and bringing Ghostceus to remove. Later Imp's evio also gets knocked, which starts making Aero become a highly dangerous threat in the back considering it has the rare SE STAB against Zama. Chomp finally comes in revealing SoR and sends FC Steela to hell with V-create, posing a huge threat as it lacks any remote switch-ins and Aero also now has to deal with Imposter ties without its Improof. Scept comes in to rk but is walled by Ho-Oh, which catches the Aero switch-in, basically ending QT's chances of winning. Pannu makes some dubious plays to not win in the most direct way, but Imp is able to KO Aero and game is over.
Matchup was pretty favoured towards pannu, who has an unwallable threat while being able to mostly cover QT's threats. Aerodactyl does pose a threat if it is able to get going, especially when pannu got Imp knocked and chipped, but being on the backfoot QT had to make aggressive plays which ended up getting punished. Pannu probably could've executed cleaner after identifying that Chomp claims every time it is able to get in, but overall played fine.
willdbeast vs
augustakira
vs
will brings a very wack looking offense ft. Pika, which might be a team from WC. It looks like its some setup Hoopa-U set, some setup Ghostceus, likely a setup Ho-Oh improofed by Miraidon, and idk how the Etern or Mirai are improofed.
Akira's team looks quite offensive, with a FurScales core between Fightceus and Meloetta, offensive picks in Gren Flutter and likely Etern, and a Blissey, unable to tell if its Imp.
As it turns out, will loaded the wrong team. Bliss turns out to be Imp and Ghostceus reveals FC mono-Judg Taunt, meaning its completely walled by Melo. Akira plays it safe though and scouts for Dark Judg, and after some positioning Flutter gets its Flame Orb procced and halves Beads Mirai. Mirai reveals LO, implying its probably not Denergy, but Melo walls it. Akira gains momentum bringing in Gren to claim Ghostceus. Will's Etern then also reveals Beads, chunking the Flutter, then making the read and catching Akira's Etern with DEnergy (might also be trying to catch Imp). Gren comes in, barely misses out on the RK, though will clicked Dragon Energy dealing 1%. Pika now comes in (potentially why Will kept Gren alive), as it is able to take a hit from Gren and 2HKOs even the FC Fightceus as long as its not Helmet. Flutter is sacked and Fightceus comes in forcing out Pika. Ho-Oh reveals MG and gets Knocked but is able to Para Fightceus, and then also Melo. Akira makes a predict bringing in Gren on a Flare Blitz, forcing will to sack Hoopa. Pika comes in again though and claims Melo, and then the position basically goes back to Ho-Oh vs Fightceus. Imp is now paraed, and Akira gets another predict with Gren on Ho-Oh's SD. Ho-Oh is now sacked, and Pika comes in, lives a Surging, KOs Gren and halves Fightceus. Half health Miraidon enters, heals to full with Sap but is poisoned. It is able to KO Fightceus but is at low health. Imp comes in, but ends up full paraed as Clanging Scales seems to be a 2HKO (91.8%), and will gets the roll to win.
An overall very fast-paced and close game. Its hard to judge the matchup when both sides had top threats, though the biggest threat ended up being Gren and its Impostered self. Both players made generally good plays and reads with the ending coming down to a full para on an Imp that is unfortunately not Evio (one of the few moments I can think of that is actually an Evio diff). Though, one critical game deciding misplay Akira had at the end was Torqueing the Miraidon instead of Knocking, which would've gave the Imp an extra turn to not get full paraed.
SammyCe123 vs
BugGoBrrrrrr
vs
Sammy loads a fairly standard looking balance, with breaker Chomp, an unknown Etern, likely FC Fightceus and Scales Zac and some Mage set to help cover Etern mus maybe.
Wheaty loads an offensive core of Blaze + Korai, the former almost certainly Band while latter could be band or some mg set. Slowbro is likely Regen (FC is fraud), leaving FC Yveltal and Scales Groundceus. Whether Bliss is Imp or not cannot be determined on preview, though non-Imp sets can easily be improofed by both Fightings.
T1 Slowbro set is revealed with Bulwark, which is pretty bad for Sammy's main wincon Chomp esp combined with the likely FC Yvel. Blissey reveals to not be Imp and Wheaty brings in Blaze revealing Moldy, which could be a big threat as it can OHKO Arceus. Eternatus is able to pivot in though, and lands a Scarf on Blissey. Then Koraidon also reveals to be Moldy (Band), U-turning on the Fightceus scout. Slowbro is poisoned, which poses a problem when it lacks recovery, and then Wheaty also Knocks into a Bulwark and gets Yveltal burned. Mage reveals PShot suggesting Prank which can be very handy against Korai. Sammy imposters Groundceus, takes a burn, but then is able to just sit there for eternity as Wheaty lacks an improof esp with Bro poisoned. Finally Yvel is brought in to threaten Knock, and both sides double out. Etern gets big damage on Blaze with DEnergy and eats a Headlong (1/16 to OHKO); crucially the damage from Denergy puts Blaze in range of 1 hazard + helmet. More Imp Groundceus stalling happen and Sammy gets some Regen recovery on Etern. Mage takes a Nuzzle which can impact the safe PShots later on. Chomp finally comes in but is forced out by the faster FC Yvel. After more pivoting Blaze comes in Mage, not risking the para Sammy makes the correct read with Fightceus and helmet damage KOs Blaze. Wheaty makes some reads to somewhat sapblock the Fightceus, though it is still able to get a bit of recovery off. More pivoting happens until Wheaty sacks Slowbro to Chomp, but manages to claim back with Koraidon. The game ends when Yvel takes a Moonblast, some can argue maybe it was a bit early but it is extremely difficult for wheaty to make progress and with Yveltal crippled a myriad of threats can clean.
Matchup was relatively even, as Sammy had to slowly try to whittle down the hard Chomp answers while both of Wheaty's band breakers can pose big threats though needing right predicts. Sammy did make some good calls with picks like Scarf Regen Etern, Prank Mage, and a Zacian in the back for speed control. Overall Sammy played the long positioning game better with some accurate reads, though I can't say Wheaty made any actual misplays (except for the Slowbro sack being slightly confusing since Yvel was healthy enough, though it is recovering less than its taking I think the timing of Slowbro sack could've been delayed). Also Groundceus being not improofed is a severe problem.
I have limited knowledge of gen 8 so I will try my best for my reviews. Tea Guzzler's reviews might be more comprehensive.
damflame 3 vs
hayedenn
vs
damflame's team looks fairly standard with likely PH Gigas, Pixi Xern, Imposter, and some defensive core between Zyg Melm and Zamac, potentially with FC Zyg SpD Steel and the last Steel being Prank or PSea.
hayedenn's team also looks fairly standard with likely PH Gigas + Pixi Xern, some offensive Etern, and a FurScales/AV core between Zyg and Zamac, Ho-Oh probably is some set to help alleviate Xern pressure, like Bounce or Desoland.
Early on we have sets revealed from both sides. hayedenn's Gigas reveals Nuzzle Spikes, which is very strong in this matchup as it is able to Para the RegenVest Melm and consistently pressure Spikes with no opposing Bounce. Etern gets an opportunity and reveals from damage against Melm as Specs Maw. Then comes an extremely long pivoting and positioning sequence where it is basically revealed that damflame cannot make good progress with Gigas walled by Zyg and Xern by Ho-Oh while hayedenn can try to make marginal progress consistently through Gigas and Xern. Imposter gets paraed on T85, and the first mon finally falls on T91. Etern on T124 fires off repeated Dragon Energys with Xern down to claim a second kill, and the rest of the game is just hayedenn positioning for Etern to enter again.
Matchup was definitely in favour of hayedenn, as they actually have reliable ways to force progress mainly with Spikes Gigas and a breaker in Specs Etern in the back to capitalize on minor improvements through Knock Off and Spikes. damflame meanwhile has very little methods to make progress even with Imposter for drawn out games, and overall I'm not a huge fan of the team. Playwise idt there is much to commentate on, both sides executed what they could do pretty well.
Tea Guzzler vs
quojova
vs
Tea's team looks standard, with likely another PH Gigas Pixi Xern core with a offensive Etern and probably FC Zyg Scales Zamac Imp.
quojova's team also uses the big 4, but with novel picks in Spectrier and Darm-Z, the former completely unknown role while the latter acts as a check to Xern variants, in particular having built-in sapblock.
Early game starts with some positioning and Tea's Gigas revealing non-PH (AV from Volt Switch damage), a rather unique choice, especially with Xerneas also revealing no PH, meaning Tea is zero PH team. Tea's Xern reveals V-create but is walled by the Darm (later revealed as Regen), then quo's Xern reveals from calc +SpA Plate, potentially a big threat with Tea lacking a sturdy resist. Multiple turns later Spectrier enters and reveals a support Spikes set. Something noteworthy happens when both Zygs trap each other, with Tea's ending up winning out due to a speed-tie, but is also left at critically low HP. T56 turned out to be a critical turn when Darm misses a Magma Storm on the Zama-C that would've dealt significant damage to pave way later on. The 14% Zyg from earlier later had just enough health to take a Spikes and claim quo's Xern. From here quojova is put into a tough position, with Zamac later trapped and eliminated by the opposing Zamac. He is however able to get up max layers of Spikes and maintain it, and Regigigas gets an opportunity to setup, but unfortunately falls short of KOing the Zamac with V-create, and the speed drop (due to being DD) means Zama can fast heal against it. Finally T77 Tea's Imp barely hangs on to remove all Spikes and Etern is able to clean.
Overall I want to say this was a rather even matchup, Tea's offensive threats are somewhat blanked but Zyg and Gigas both are quite difficult to switch into consistently. quojova has promising chances with Spike pressure from Spectrier and XernGigas, though significant preparation is needed to soften Gigas and Zamac. The resulting game became kind of dependent on several rng instances. Noteworthy is a post game mention of Shift Gear Regigigas for quojova would've won the game by outpacing Zamac after a V-c.
Nihilslave vs
MAMP
vs
Nihilslave surprisingly does not have Zama-C on their team. The defensive core seems to consist of primarily Tina and Ho-Oh.
MAMP's team consists of a Groudon and Lunala, both not unusual sights but haven't been brought by any other player. One of the two looks to be FC.
Groudon reveals to be prank, but is completely stone walled by the revealed Volt Absorb Ho-Oh. Nihil's Gigas gets the Orb proc, and T3 MAMP hard switches their Gigas in, only to be Nuzzled, practically rendering it useless in the medium-long run (as it is indeed PH). Spikes are traded, and then Spins are traded between Xern and Imp, which also reveals that the Xern is walled by Ho-Oh. MAMP's Etern reveals Scales and is able to land a nice trick on Ho-Oh, removing crucial boots and giving it black sludge. MAMP's Zama-C reveals Bounce, effectively preventing Nihil from getting up spikes easily. Nihil takes more significant chip on Imposter to remove the Spike, but is able to Para Lunala with Giratina. Some pivoting happens until Nihil brings in Etern on Gigas, which is full paraed. Etern claims the Gigas with DEnergy, and then Xern immediately after as MAMP expects Choice lock. After some more turns MAMP tries to go for Sludge Bombs against Gigas but gets Paraed and forfeits as they do not really have any wincons.
Matchup was somewhat favouring Nihilslave with the Volt Absorb Ho-Oh capable of walling Xern and Groudon, combined with Etern being able to put pressure esp with Gigas paraing Zama-C. MAMP's last move on Gigas is unrevealed though and it could've posed a threat had the T3 misplay not happened.
anaconja vs
SuperSkylake
vs
anaconja's team looks rather offensive, as it doesn't look like it has a sturdy enough defensive core, leading to potentially some offensive Yveltal set (most likely Triage) improofing Gengar, and probably some Final Gambit ideas on Zygarde. There is also an Arceus, which could be a surprise especially coming from anaconja.
Skylake's team also looks to be offensive. Sets are not immediately obvious, though a lack of general speed control suggests Scarf somewhere or Triage Yveltal.
T1 we see RegenVest Dialga being tricked a Scarf, an important detail later on, and this also confirms anaconja bringing some hyper offensive structure with Zyg basically guaranteeing to have Final Gambit. Arceus reveals to be Dark with Tail Glow, but is forced out by PH MMX, which burns the NDM and gets up Spikes (Knock Off also suggests NDM is likely Ultranecrozium Z shenanigans). Yveltal comes in, takes the burn, and reveals Triage KOing MMX. It also reveals Dark Judgment to likely be improofed by DQM MGar, and with Sap it poses a huge threat to Skylake's team with Dialga choice-locked to not be able to Spectral into Core. After a long switching procedure and sacking Yveltal Skylake finally manages to trick Scarf onto Yveltal and force it out, with Zyg blowing up Metagross with Gambit. Then TG Darkceus cleans.
Matchup definitely favours anaconja, who has too many offensive threats for Skylake to handle. Skylake's team kind of lacks a sturdy enough defensive backbone, while also not having enough speed control from the likes of fast mons and Prank (Yveltal might've been Triage) which leads to a lot of pressure on the Dialga and Metagross, especially since TTar MMX PDon all might not have speed boosting.
Onyx Onix 7 vs
jasprose
vs
Onyx brings a surprisingly standard structure, though with a double blob. Considering the usum metagame, it is plausible that it is FC Chansey, esp with the MMY that can be improofed by it (SF).
jasprose brings a reasonably offensive team with Diancie Gengar and Regigigas. Celesteela is almost guaranteed to be fire-immune to improof the Diancie, and Dialga is probably RegenVest.
Blissey is Imposter, and Onyx gets in PDon which is able to set up Spikes in front of the basically confirmed FF Steela. Steela tries to get up rocks but is bounced by Tina. After accomplishing nothing jasprose brings Gigas on a Spectral to get the Orb procced, and is also able to get some chip on PDon, likely expecting Giratina to try to block Spin. Diancie comes in but is walled by FC Chansey while revealing non-Specs, likely plate. jasprose finally is able to remove the hazards while Onyx procs Xern's Orb. Gigas appears to be a Knock variant that is walled by Giratina, and after more pivoting jasprose brings in Imposter against PDon. As it turns out, Giratina is a very tight improof, and after it takes a Blades and is in range of another, Onyx tries to predict by bringing what is presumably Sap Xern to force out the Imposter, but it instantly dies to V-create (which did more to Giratina too). With Giratina weakened, Regigigas starts applying pressure, and after Onyx didn't go for V-create PDon is sacked, Giratina tries to come in to heal up but is surprised by Spectral on the Gigas too. From this point the game is basically over as jasprose has enough tools to keep MMY in check. Onyx does pick up a nice KO against Regigigas using Metal Burst, but without Eviolite Diancie or Imposter now win.
Matchup seems roughly even. I think the issue that occurred to Onyx is they didn't have enough pivoting/momentum to play actively to utilize MMY which has a pretty good matchup by threatening 1/2HKOs across jasprose's team, and Xerneas also didn't get to see any play. Groudon's improof was also kind of shaky as seen through the game. jasprose played pretty well by retaining good momentum throughout, though the team feels a bit fragile esp with fastest mon 130, as Diancie still needs sizeable chip to pick off targets like MMY with Espeed.
XxLazzerpenguinxX vs
cityscapes
vs
Sevag brings a pretty bulky team with mono-progress maker MMY, likely SF or MG. Audino is likely PH, Registeel appears to be Fire-immune to check stuff like Xern, and its hard to tell the other sets.
City surprisingly recycles the known
RMT The Crusher, featuring Shed, RegenVest Kyogre, Bounce Mage, Prank Tina, Scarf Imp, and SF MMY. Imp looked to be swapped to Chansey so it is unknown whether she changed the item.
Sevag reveals double PH with Audino and Giratina, but the Bounce Magearna looks to be crushing in this matchup stonewalling Audino and Giratina. MMY reveals MG, and after some incredible sequence between Audino and Mage, city's Giratina eventually reveals Wisp, suggesting that she made some minor edits to the original team. Sevag is able to get some chip on Imposter (revealed to be Evio), while city gets her MMY in with a double. It chunks Audino but Aud is able to get up a useful spike. Sevag then misses a crucial Wisp on Imposter and takes a slow Core, meaning Giratina is very low. MMY is brought in but is unable to KO Imp and gets burned, meaning it cannot 2HKO the Kyogre, then loses the speed tie against Imposter and is koed. From here Sevag basically cannot win, and after a few turns city gets SF MMY in and cleans.
Matchup was pretty poor for Sevag, mainly the Bounce Mage that walls Aud, Tina, and Yveltal, and also doesn't have the best check to SF MMY esp with hazards up. I don't think there were any misplays on both sides, though city leaving Imp in front of Giratina was somewhat risky, as with a burned Imp there was potential that MG MMY would be able to sweep. Missing burn and then losing speed tie was pretty rough for sevag.
