Greetings everyone. Today I will present you a Goat team built by me and by the Goat ram which let me successfully topped the ladder (after numerous breakdowns caused by hax but whatever). The team is a peculiar sticky webs team featuring waterium z dewpider because yes, it is a nuke and i'm gonna explain why, using various calcs.
The team:
Dewpider @ Waterium Z
Ability: Water Bubble
Level: 5
EVs: 52 HP / 196 Atk / 180 Def / 20 SpD / 60 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sticky Web
- Liquidation
- Leech Life
- Icy Wind
Ok so we wanted to use a set that could effectively kill staryu so we thought z dew was pretty decent at doing that (we calculated with z giga drain as well, but it only lured Staryu), then we remained surprised and satisfied after calculating the damage of a waterium boosted Liquidation. Here's a list of calcs:
The set is a variation of the standard one, with Z > Evio, max atk Adamant because we dont really need speed investement, Leech Life as a stab and recovery, and the fourth move can be changed between Magic Coat, Mirror Coat and Icy Wind. STAB Liquidation is very useful for dropping defense in order to not waste the Z.
Pawniard @ Eviolite
Ability: Defiant
Level: 5
EVs: 156 Atk / 36 Def / 116 SpD / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Brick Break
After coming up with this goat set, we decided to add a Defog abuser and Vullaby check in Pawniard. Standard EVs with Jolly > Ada, and Brick Break >SR, as we are going to add another setter soon. Pawn also checks most stuff that threatens Dewp, such as Rocks and Flyings, as well as helping vs Fairies, while Dewp helps checking Fightings. People didn't expect a Z move so they would get baited so that Pawn could sweep later in the game. Having Brick Break helps a bunch vs other Pawns and in breaking Veils, but Stalk is a viable choice for dealing with Foongus.
Mudbray @ Eviolite
Ability: Stamina
Level: 5
EVs: 116 HP / 196 Atk / 36 Def / 76 SpD / 76 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Heavy Slam
- Rock Slide
Then we wanted something to deal with offensive Volturn so we decided to add an offensive SR setting Mudbray to help with that and with checking Flyings, Fightings and Alolan-Grimer, as well as pressuring Staryu,Vullaby,Pawniard and Ponyta.
Vullaby @ Eviolite
Ability: Weak Armor
Level: 5
EVs: 116 HP / 240 SpA / 116 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA
- Nasty Plot
- Air Slash
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Grass]
We needed a Ground answer and we of course chose to add the king of Flying types, Vullaby, who also checked Grass types such as Snivy and Foongus, also checked by Pawniard. We needed a special sweeper so we opted for a NP set with HP Grass for Onix and other Water types, which can hurt if Pawn has fainted. We went with Evio > BJ for bulk purposes and to help vs Gastly and Abra.
Abra @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
Level: 5
EVs: 240 SpA / 200 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 1 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD / 30 Spe
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Substitute
Next we needed something fast that could abuse Sticky Webs and hit for a ton of damage, so we went with the classic LO Abra with HP Fighting.
Timburr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
Level: 5
EVs: 116 Atk / 156 Def / 236 SpD
Careful Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off
- Bulk Up
At last we needed a bulky physical sweeper that could help vs Mag, Steel types in general, had a priority, Knock Off, helped vs Shell Smashers, Bunnelby and Ice types and didnt make Vulla come in for free. Bulk Up Timburr is probably the only mon to fit all of these requirements perfectly, so we added him, with of course Guts > IF, as we needed a burn absorber.
In conclusion:
It's solid in general, but I found it difficult to pivot around non-BJ Dewpider, because it's harder to set up Webs but it's a pretty easy team to win with if used properly. I don't think it has weaknesses, probably only vs Mag + Staryu. It's a secure win vs other Sticky Web teams. I'm gonna link some replays and the screenshot of me topping.
