Haunter @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Pain Split
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave

Substitute + Pain Split Haunter is the stuff of nightmares for balance and stall teams alike because of its unique set of resistances and frighteningly powerful coverage. Haunter takes advantage of prominent defensive staples such as specially defensive Venusaur, Mega Audino, Type: Null, and Pyukumuku in order to get up Substitute and wreak havoc. It can also quite easily threaten out Pokemon such as Slowbro, Medicham, Jellicent, Passimian, Xatu, and Aromatisse with its STAB combination and create additional opportunities to get up a free Substitute. Haunter can even circumvent counters such as Sneasel, Incineroar, and Guzzlord by getting behind a Substitute before they switch in and hammering them with Sludge Wave. Pain Split lets Haunter beat Type: Null one-on-one, alleviate Life Orb recoil, and take advantage of its low HP stat to drain the health of switch-ins like Steelix and Vaporeon. Thus, Haunter carves itself a niche as one of the spookiest stallbreakers in NU.

Subsplit Haunter is the stuff of nightmares for balance and stall teams alike because of it's unique set of resistances and frighteningly powerful coverage. Haunter takes advantage of prominent defensive staples such as Vileplume, Pyukumuku, Type: Null, and Mega Audino small but list them in order of viability, aka audino null then plume pyuku in order to get up a Substitute and wreak havoc. It can also quite easily threaten out Pokemon such as Slowbro, Jellicent, Xatu, and Aromatisse which creates even more Substitute opportunities and puts immense strain on defensive teams to respond. Haunter can even circumvent counters such as Sneasel by getting behind a Substitute before it switches in and promptly OHKOing it with Sludge Wave. Pain Split lets Haunter beat Type: Null 1v1 while also alleviating Life Orb recoil and taking advantage of its low HP stat to drain the health of switch-ins like Steelix and Vaporeon. Thus, Haunter takes advantage of current bulky metagame and carves itself a niche as one of the spookiest stallbreakers in NU.

you could maybe make a point about the ghost typing and how valueable it is in this meta, gettung subs up vs scarf fighters like pass and revening / checking stuff like croak and medi

also might wana mention venu as it subs up 100% of the time unless theyre knock (not common)

maybe some sort of point talking about how the combo of sub + sludge wave allows it to get past its tradiotional checks like roar or guzz but it's prob not a neccessity
good work, 1/1

Subsplit Substitute + Pain Split Haunter is the stuff of nightmares for balance and stall teams alike because of it's its unique set of resistances and frighteningly powerful coverage. Haunter takes advantage of prominent defensive staples such as SpD specially defensive Venusaur, Mega Audino, Type: Null, and Pyukumuku in order to get up a Substitute and wreak havoc. It can also quite easily threaten out Pokemon such as Slowbro, Medicham, Jellicent, Passimian, Xatu, and Aromatisse with it's dual its STAB combination and create additional opportunities to get up a free Substitute. Haunter can even circumvent counters such as Sneasel, Incineroar, and Guzzlord by getting behind a Substitute before they switch in and hammering them with Sludge Wave. Pain Split lets Haunter beat Type: Null 1v1 while also alleviating one-on-one,(AC) alleviate Life Orb recoil,(AC) and taking take advantage of its low HP stat to drain the health of switch-ins like Steelix and Vaporeon. Thus, Haunter takes advantage of current bulky metagame and (this was said in the second sentence) carves itself a niche as one of the spookiest stallbreakers in NU.
