Have you ever bought a CD with the parental advisory label against your parents' will?

I've got a fun topic tonight. Parental music censorship. Some parents are as strict as hell about not letting their kids buy albums with parental advisory labels because of that one Wobbuffet named Tipper Gore who started the PMRC which labeled good songs like "Trashed" by Black Sabbath as if they were devil music. Then parents became super strict on everything their kids listen to just like that. My parents didn't let up even slightly about it until I turned sixteen. And by today, they even admitted to me they wanted to shelter me away from the very same metal music I love, when I was a kid.

And yes, for the record I have bought an album with the parental advisory label against my parents' will. It is Reign in Blood by Slayer. I purchased it with the help of a friend and sneaked it into my iTunes library in the middle of the night. They still wouldn't let me buy Black Sabbath let alone Slayer when I purchased a bunch of forbidden CDs I wanted recently.

Back when I was eight years old, my dad took away my good old blue iPod like the one in the picture below and when he returned it, 78 of the 81 songs were missing from it. He claimed it was all inappropriate for one reason or another when most of it was actually fairly innocent with a few PG-13 outliers.

wait do digital outlets not have to do the parental advisory thing like... at all? I've never thought about that before... I know a lot of songs have to like put an (Explicit) tag on them. is that even the same thing?

I always thought it's the same thing. Spotify and apple music have an option to censor songs too, and sometimes there'd be two versions of the same song, one censored and one uncensored. it's stupid

As for me i also never bought any albums. used to pirate all my music until i subscribed to spotify years ago, and never looked back
