Heliolisk @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hyper Voice
- Thunderbolt
- Surf / Grass Knot

A powerful Volt Switch, excellent coverage to punish Ground-types, two immunities that allow it to check several common Water-types, and enough Speed to outrun most of the metagame and pivot on threats such as Charizard and Braviary make Heliolisk a top threat in PU at the moment. Where other Volt Switch users like Jolteon have extremely poor coverage, Heliolisk can nail Grass- and Ground-types with a strong secondary STAB attack in Hyper Voice and excellent coverage options in Surf and Grass Knot. Heavy-Duty Boots gives it ample opportunities to switch in although other items such as Choice Specs are common and strong enough to be worth looking out for. PU has plenty of powerful U-turn users that can form a good VoltTurn core with Heliolisk, making it easy to pair with pivots like Passimian and Mesprit. Heliolisk is also excellent at bringing in strong wallbreakers, particularly those that appreciate its ability to check Water-types like Magmortar and Sneasel. Its weakness is its Speed, which is quite good but in such a fast metagame still leaves Heliolisk lacking versus several other top threats such as Archeops, Ribombee, and Whimsicott.

A powerful Volt Switch, excellent coverage to punish Ground-types, two immunities that allow it to check several common Water-types, and enough Speed to outrun most of the metagame (give some examples imo) make Heliolisk a top threat in PU at the moment. Where other Volt Switch users like Jolteon have extremely poor coverage, Heliolisk can nail Grass- and Ground-types with a strong secondary STAB in Hyper Voice and excellent coverage options in Surf and Grass Knot. PU has plenty of powerful U-Turn users that can form a good VoltTurn core with Heliolisk, making it easy to pair with pivots like Passimian and Mesprit and wallbreakers like Toxicroak and Magmortar. Heavy-Duty Boots also give it ample switch-in opportunities although other items such as Choice Specs are common and strong enough to be worth looking out for. Heliolisk's terrible bulk prevents it from switching directly into most non-Water types but the ability to switch into Vaporeon and Jellicent with almost no risk still gives Heliolisk more opportunity than comparably frail Pokemon. (u kinda mention this earlier on, i'd expand on the wallbreakers point here instead. virizion's a good partner as well, fighting-types in general are. also mention mons tht appreciate it taking on water-types) It's only other notable weakness is its Speed, which is quite good but leaves it lacking versus several other top threats such as Archeops and Whimsicott.
