Basic information:

Hello, & Welcome to the Hispanic Grand Slam!
We will be hosting a huge multitier daily tournament & trivias, featuring many fresh Sword & Shield formats, but also some classic iconic old gens tiers! This event will be hosted in the Español Room, so its recommended that you have at least a basic understanding & speaking of the spanish language to compete properly; but if Pokémon has proven something through all the years it is that Pokémon is a Global Language, so dont be afraid to test your skill!

Classificatory Dinamics:

This explains how you will get points to make it to playoffs:

• Tournaments: A daily tournament will be created in a different format for a whole month, starting March 1st finishing on March 30. There will be 30 tournaments in total, all hosted in Español Room. Tournaments will take place everyday at 16 PM (GMT -4). It's not necessary to sign up. Based on the amount of players, a different number of points will be given:
  
  
  Points based on the user amount

  Less than 64 users: 6 points for the winner, 4 finalist, 2 semi-finalist and 1 quarter-finalists.
  More than 64 users: 8 winner, 6 finalist, 4 semi-finalist and 2 quarter-finalists.
  
  
• Trivias: Every 3 days a trivia (questions aboud Pokémon in general) will be hosted (10 trivias during the whole event). A correct answer will give 1 point in the classification. Trivias will be held in Eventos room (Español sub room) at 5PM (GMT-4).

The scoreboard can be checked anytime in a post below in this thread, that will be updated asap after every tournament & trivia. On March 31st we will announce the list of the 16 champions classified for the Play Offs stage, explained below.

Play-Offs Dynamic

The Bo5 (Best of 5) Single Elimination stage begins, you will face the best of the best from the event here. The 16 top classified players will choose two tiers each one, the fifth tier will be [Gen 8] OU. The available tiers for picking in this stage are posted above in the tiers section. Each round will have a week deadline. Replays are NEEDED and must be shared in the thread to keep record of the battle. The operation of the event is similar to other Smogon Tournaments.

The winner of the event will get a namecolor, disabled nickname or a Custom Avatar that can be used in SmogTours & the Official Pokémon Showdown Simulator. They will also receive Room Prize Winner in Español & Eventos room, and a badge in our forum.

I think it is very unfair to give 10 points in a single trivia, I mean, someone wins the tour and win 7-8 points but someone answers the 10 questions of the trivia wins 10 points, that is quite unfair, a better option would be to give 1 point to the person who answers the most correct answers in the trivia, another option could be to limit a person from participating in all trivias, for example, "Adelso1450 won in yesterday's trivia, he will not be able to participate in the next"

so they would not take away the classification of someone who did not play trivia due to lack of knowledge, since if that person was playing tours and having good results and hes out for playoffs because "Vicente Cardenas" responded to the trivia every day it would be something annoying for the person who played tournaments :(

It is an observation that I hope take into account, have a good night!

That isn't fair at all imo. Why does this trivia thing give you more points than winning tournaments? I think that you need to create 2 playoffs: Tournament playoffs and Trivia playoffs. What if I reach playoffs thanks to the trivias and I don't really play any more tiers than BW OU and NatDex? I wont win the tournament because I don't have the skill to do it. But I have enough knowledge to win many trivias, and looks like you don't care about it. I feel like you are trying to connect 2 different things together

We appreciate your suggestion but after discussing it between the hosts, we think that trivias are a fundamental piece of the event and that they should have a great importance in the classification and not be just an extra. However I also have to say that the trivias will not be easy at all, making it very difficult for a user to get 5 correct answers or more in each trivia, so I doubt that it becomes a problem or that a person classifies only by winning trivias.
